Ah, I have one of those 😉

Pretty good! You're 90% there! I see in the solo you're taking the harmony guitar line. Nice. Is that because you only have one guitarist? One thing, in the verse it should be the C# to B both times rather than the higher E down to C# on the 2nd line.... but that just may be your personal interpretation/originality Keep it up!

Why? He DID play bass on a good 80+% of tracks. Sometimes he was happy for the person who'd written the song to play the bassline on the recording as they had come up with a cool line. I'd say that shows a good bit of unselfishness and doing what is best/most efficient for the track recording....

Paul Stanley actually played bass on that on the studio recording, though Gene obviously plays it live....

Yup

Yep, he was very tasteful. I'm a big fan (as if you didn't know ). Here are a few of my faves from the 70's:

Great fun bassline. Here's a quick youtube vid I uploaded a while back, may help? As with anything it's about playing it over and over again and building up speed. Good luck!

Got some great old Schaller pins/locks from Rich. Easy, smooth transaction and fast delivery. Recommended!

(Another) New Spector Day! Arrived on Friday.... finally after a 9 month wait (partly due to Brexshit).... Spector Euro Classic 4 in solid red! Gorgeous colour and plays beautifully. Sound great through my Class D with headphones but haven't had a chance to play it at volume through a rig yet..

Nice! Welcome home

His usual recording/gigging gear at that time was Kramer Spector NS2 -> Gallien Krueger 800RB driven hard -> McAuley 2x15 cab. Most of his tone was from digging in hard on the bass and driving the GK.

Mine from Thomann has just arrived. Only played it through headphones so far.... but it sounds awesome! Love it.... particularly for a bit of grind with 'authority'

An accomplished bassist friend & I blind a/b'd a Super Twin against my Genz Benz Neox 2x12 with identical bass & amp set up and we were both surprised to find that we both agreed that the Genz sounded better and punchier. Saved me a lot of money in what I thought might be a potential rig upgrade.

I had an all maple Melody Grabber MANY years ago. Had a unique feel and sound..... wish I hadn't parted with it
-
But maybe Amy Crackhouse might have been better? I'll get me coat....
-
Dingwall and Darkglass.... You too can sound just like every other metal bassist!
