Arrived on Friday.... finally after a 9 month wait (partly due to Brexshit).... Spector Euro Classic 4 in solid red! Gorgeous colour and plays beautifully. Sound great through my Class D with headphones but haven't had a chance to play it at volume through a rig yet... 😉

Nice! Welcome home

His usual recording/gigging gear at that time was Kramer Spector NS2 -> Gallien Krueger 800RB driven hard -> McAuley 2x15 cab. Most of his tone was from digging in hard on the bass and driving the GK.

Mine from Thomann has just arrived. Only played it through headphones so far.... but it sounds awesome! Love it.... particularly for a bit of grind with 'authority'

An accomplished bassist friend & I blind a/b'd a Super Twin against my Genz Benz Neox 2x12 with identical bass & amp set up and we were both surprised to find that we both agreed that the Genz sounded better and punchier. Saved me a lot of money in what I thought might be a potential rig upgrade.

I had an all maple Melody Grabber MANY years ago. Had a unique feel and sound..... wish I hadn't parted with it
-
But maybe Amy Crackhouse might have been better? I'll get me coat....
-
Dingwall and Darkglass.... You too can sound just like every other metal bassist!

My faves from the early days of tributes in the UK were: The Six Pastilles - Sex Pistols tribute The Small Fa(e)ces - Small Faces tribute who were often described as "a little bit *profanity filter*")

They don't exist anymore but my two fave names from the early days of tributes were: The Six Pastilles - Sex Pistols tribute The Small Fa(e)ces - Small Faces tribute who were often described as "a little bit sh*t"

Are you a Lebowski? Creedence or Eagles?

I like both for different reasons.... but I'd take Tom Johnston-era Doobie Brothers (with their mix of country, r'n'b and southern rock) over both of them. Almost like a melding of the two.... -

Believe me, it is ALL live. I've been up close with them live and at fan meets and there is no trickery involved. They are all amazing singers...... -
I once owned a 3 pickup black Gibson Les Paul Custom that was owned, played and toured by Ace Frehley of KISS in 1979/1980. It was signed on the back and came in its original case that was signed too. I LOVED owning it as it had scorched pick up rings on it (taken from his smoking guitar) and many pics of him using it 'live'. I felt a link to a special place/time in rock history and was honoured to own it. Of course, a huge offer from a big collector made moving it on a no-brainer, but I'm glad I got to enjoy it for a while and fell privileged to have done so. I currently own a one-off custom red firecrackle' Kramer Spector NS2' that formerly belonged to Barry Dunaway of Yngwie Malmsteen's band and was used live on Yngwie's 1989 'Trial By Fire' tour and subsequent 'Live in Leningrad' CD/DVD. I had been at the London Astoria concert of the Trial By Fire tour and had been blown away by the looks and sound of the bass but I NEVER dreamt that I would own it! When I saw it come up for sale at a US guitar shop some 20 years later at a reasonable price I felt that it was fate that I should have it. Having got to now Barry in recent years I have discovered that he hugely regrets moving it on for cashflow reasons in the years after Malmsteen.... and should I ever need to sell it he would like 1st dibs. Oh, and just remembered, I also own a black Kramer Spector NS2A that was owned/heavily toured by Mark Plunkett with the band Little Angels in the late 80's/early 90's. I bought it directly from him many years ago....

Tbh, I viewed the video and wasn't convinced there was a problem with his replacement either.... And I'm not just saying that as a 'fanboy'....

Sorted! Cheers

If when one of you guys get your VT 500 you decide you don't like it, please PM me! I'm gutted I missed this offer and would be happy to pay the just over £200 it costs for the amp, VAT and import charges.
