Have to say that, as much as I occasionally enjoy the DG sound, I too am getting bored of the generic metal distortion tone that everyone seems to get from their products. A cool sound, in and of itself, but (I don't want to sound like an old fogey) it really is getting to the point of 'it all sounds the same'.... Emperors new clothes and all that..... I expect they'll bring out a £600 ltd edition 'engraved' version too....

They were the prototypes for the Rudy Sarzo sig model. The right is a mock up done to change the weird lower horn...

Anyone in the Surrey/S Berks area got a bass shipping box going spare? I have a guitard one (too small) and a massive external one (too big). I have a bass in a case I need to put in it so box needs to be approx 127cm long by 43cm wide by 15cm deep. I'm in Guildford/Woking area but I can collect within 20 miles. Thanks!

The first two statements..... nah. The Spector? Yeah, stunning....

With an impending house move hopefully coming early in the New Year I, unfortunately, need to move a few bits on. Here is a gorgeous and highly rated late 80's Korean made thru-neck Kramer Spector NS2A in the rare ‘teal (blue/green) stain colour. I have majorly upgraded this bass, replacing the passive Spector pickups with a full active EMG set, the K-Haz preamp with a custom SNC US-Haz copy preamp (almost identical to the full US Hazlab), the black hardware with gold (heavy duty bridge, Schaller tuners and Schaller strap pins), US-style knobs and US-style crown fret marker decals. The body and thru neck are maple with a rosewood fingerboard. These original Kramer-Spector import basses (from many years before the Euro lines) have a fantastic reputation with this top of the range NS2A model often being rated as 90% the quality of the legendary full US NS2 models, with a thru-neck maple construction & similar neck profile, but for a fraction of the price - the main differences being the Spector branded passive pickups, a cheaper preamp, non-gold hardware, Rosewood rather than Pau Ferro board and 3A rather than 5A grade maple bodies! As I have said – I have gone some way to upgrading this instrument to more like the full-on US NS2 model. Being all maple (rather than a maple, walnut, alder sandwich), with an NS2 style neck profile and armed with a custom US-Haz copy pre this bass is a lot closer to the legendary US Kramer NS2 model than the more recent Euro LX models (which will cost you up to double my price)! Many well known 80's/90's rock bassists (Kip Winger, Eddie Jackson, etc) actually used these, with the EMG pickup upgrade, on recordings and 'live'! The SNC-Haz pre controls are vol (p), vol (j), bass (cut/boost) and treble (cut boost). The sound is typical spector - tight & growling - and sure to cut through any mix! See top of this page for more info on these great basses: https://2cw1d79cq4b2tsxk239w4ix1-wpengine.netdna-ssl.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/Archived_Korean.jpg I would rate the condition as 8.5+/10 with some light surface scratches, a dew minor surface dings on the edges & nail-wear marks above the P & J pickups. Not bad for 30+ year old bass....and it plays beautifully with a nice low action and smooth, comfortable feel! Weight is only approx 3.8kgs. Price-wise, I'm looking for a VERY reasonable*SOLD* by cash on collection, Paypal (you pay all fees) or direct a/c transfer. NO trades thanks. Pickup from Guildford area or I can meet within 30 miles for petrol money. I will also courier at buyers cost (approx. £50) Please see my feedback thread (ignore the broken link in my signature below – please do a search instead!) for assurance of a clean and honest transaction.

I think it was the bit where harsh words were offered, but really it was a cover up of your loving feelings..... you know, like teasing the girl at school you actually fancy....

Wouldn't it be "Bare Assed Eh"? 😉

He actually has a Euro signature model made in the Czech Republic. It is a through-neck model and is made to extremely high standards. The US shop is basically a custom shop....

Just got one of these for under £30 (mint/used) and they're only £40 new right now! https://www.tcelectronic.com/product.html?modelCode=P0DDN Adds just the right amount of gain for a lightly overdriven bass grind with a natural feeling compression. The mid boost is great for punching through in a mix and presents some lovely harmonic overtones. I'm late to the party on this as it's been out a few years.... but better late than never. This maybe one of those 'always on' pedals!

Craig bought my Hartke bass. Great guy, easy transaction. Thanks!

I played a few large theatre shows with mine before lockdown and it sounded huge! GK's are naturally bright sounding so it's worth taming that a little.... Add the drive channel with a subtle boost and you'll be cutting through the band with ease! Love mine :)

Rio Isolated Bass Track - is it John Taylor?
cetera replied to spectoremg's topic in General Discussion
It's allowed, be it right or wrong. The OP's opinion is also allowed, be it right or wrong. I haven't defended it - I am defending his right to have it. My issue is that you have joined an established forum where lots of people know each other personally or through regular interaction on the forum and treat each other with respect. There is much ribbing and goading but only with those who we know well through such interaction. Coming straight in on your very first post and 'having a go' at someone - then doing the same thing you accused them of, however, just isn't a great way to start. I wish you well and hope you can contribute more positively in future. -

We'll all be sure to check in with you before posting in future in case you become offended. Thanks. You'll find plenty of love for JT and Duran on these pages. As for your Oasis comment.... well you've just fallen into your own trap -

No. He was posting his opinion/question in that he thought it was plectrum and that it was unlikely to have been played with fingers. Unless you're John Taylor's Mum I'm unsure why you became so offended? Nice editing of your original post btw. What was that you were saying about being condescending comments? -

Way to go with your first ever post on this forum.... straight into insults. Whether the original poster was right or wrong this is clearly no way to respond. You might want to check your attitude..... -

Your best (and worst!) bass gear purchases of 2020?
cetera replied to Al Krow's topic in General Discussion
The best?!? These two beauties: Mega-rare Hamer Impact (from 1991 and only 200 ever made), imported from the USA. So comfortable to play, killer looks and a gorgeous sound! Fender FSR 70's sunburst P bass with blocks from this very forum. Such classic looks and tone. S/H Fender Rumble 100 Bass Combo. Fantastic tones for home practice/small gigs! And I got it for the price of a Rumble 25 Also, the TC Electronic Spark Booster pedal - a lovely subtle booster that adds a perfect amount of grind/grit to your signal, with some tasty harmonic overtones.... and all for just £40!! The worst? Nothing really.... I'm very careful with my purchases and do my research/due diligence in advance...
