Spoke to someone at Interparcel and they are VERY confused.... especially as I am able to book directly on UPS site. They are going to look into it and let me know... As an aside, they said that they also find TNT very reliable. Never used them myself. Any opinions on them or Tufnells?

I almost always send my guitars by UPS (via Interparcel) but today I have logged on at Interparcel with a standard bass in shipping box to send across country and it is NOT returning any UPS quotes/results... Anyone else know any thing about this?

I'm more concerned about people telling me that they want to "funk me up"! -
Cheers chap! I'm simply running through an old Boss CE2 Chorus pedal into my Fender Rumble 100 practice combo (set flat!). Yes, I do have.... er.... one or two t-shirts I've accumulated over the years! lol!

This guy..... Kip Winger.... such a huge talent! Fantastic bassist, songwriter, professional ballet dancer, classical composer, Broadway musical writer and an amazing rock vocalist. Here he shows just what his soulful voice is capable of..... Give him a listen and appreciate the talent... -
As Gene Simmons always says..... "the critics who had it in for us in the beginning are now asking 'Would you like fries with that?' "

A big potential purchase has come up and sadly I need to move on a couple of basses to help pay for it. *SOLD* Need to move this on....! So, as a result, and using the last in/first out rule.... here is my gorgeous Archer KS3 Kasim Sulton Signature Bass. Not a lot of these around.... but a lovely feeling/playing instrument - lightweight with classic offset Jazz meets Spector/Tune/Bass Collection style looks.... More pics available on request. Here's the official blurb: For over 30 years bassist/singer-songwriter Kasim Sulton has worked with artists as diverse as Todd Rundgren, Blue Öyster Cult, The New Cars, Meat Loaf, Joan Jett, Utopia, Celine Dion, Bon Jovi and Hall & Oates. He also played in the musical "Movin' Out on Broadway", Mike Portnoy's "Blue Matter Custard" and has his own increasingly successful solo career. The new Kasim Sulton Signature K S3 Archer Bass is a visually stunning and truly unique sounding instrument, equipped with a P-Bass/J-Bass pickup configuration and a bridge design built to Kasim's own specifications. This newly updated model features updated precision bridge adjustments, which provide a newly improved fretboard action for ease of playability on the road and in the studio. Overall, the K S3 Bass provides a rich, full-bodied tone and sustain. If you want great performance, undeniable style and affordability, look no further than the new v3 Kasim Sulton Signature Bass from Archer. "This latest version is the result of a continuing effort to improve the look, feel and technical aspects of my bass. This “Version 3” K Bass represent the positive changes I continue to make during my road tours and studio work. I feel this proactive approach helps to make this instrument what is has evolved into today since its inception of the original model produced 9 years ago. Whether I'm playing with Todd Rundgren, Meat Loaf, Blue Öyster Cult or solo, I rely on my K Bass for the performance I'm looking for in a road and studio-tested quality instrument." - Kasim Sulton Specifications: Body: Ash Translucent Polyurethane (Black) Finish Neck: Top Grade Canadian Hard Maple Neck: Set Neck Fingerboard: Rosewood Scale: 34” 24 Frets Adjustable Truss Rod 'Kasim Sulton' inlaid signature at 12th fret “K” inlay on headstock Width at Nut: 40mm Custom K Sulton Bridge String Spacing at Bridge: 20mm String-Through Body Bridge Design Electronics & Hardware Pickups: Custom “PSL” system pickups 2 volume, 2 tone controls The bass is in fantastic (almost mint) condition and comes in a custom shaped semi-solid guitar case (zip broken but can be easily rectified). A big potential purchase has come up and sadly I need to move on a couple of basses to help pay for it So, as a result, here is my lovely Hartke XK4 active bass. I always wanted one of these as I had played one in a shop approx 15 years ago and had been blown away by the massive (almost Status/Modulus graphite-sounding) active tone, striking black/chrome and brushed aluminium looks... and easily playable neck that felt like it was short-medium scale! It didn't disappoint and I've hugely enjoyed owning and playing it. Indeed, soundwise, it's been a fave of many musicians I've ever played with as it cuts through with authority and ease. Here's the original sales blurb from Hartke: Designed to Larry Hartke's specifications and featuring high quality components throughout, the XK-4 represents a more accessibly priced option for professional bassists. This precision instrument features a Poplar body coupled to a Vaccaro double T-Bar aluminum component neck system with a rock maple neck shell that provides a familiar feel and easy playability. This unique neck system consists of a lightweight aluminum aircraft extrusion welded to an aluminum triple-plated chrome headstock. It not only ensures maximum resistance to atmospheric conditions and string tension, it provides exceptionally long sustain and tuning stability over the long run. A Rosewood fretboard with ultra fat action neck finish and Nickel-Silver frets further enhance playability while the XK-4's Zero-fret design provides flawless open string response. To best capture its extraordinary sustain, tone and presence, the XK-4 is equipped with high performance passive pickups and active electronics. Other features include dual volume controls; concentric bass/treble tone controls; a chrome bridge and tuning machines and a brushed aluminum finish pickguard. Like the XL-4, there is a lifetime guarantee on the neck assembly. Poplar body 34" scale length Vaccaro double T-Bar aluminium neck Chrome-plated headstock Rock maple neck shell Rosewood fretboard Nickel silver frets Zero fret for flawless open string response P-J passive pickups with active electronics Dual volume controls Concentric Active Bass/Treble controls Heavy Duty 'Hartke branded' Chrome bridge Gotoh Chrome tuners Easy access 9-volt battery compartment Brushed aluminium finish pickguard Sadly, less than 1000 of these were ever made when Vaccaro suddenly went out of business and production ceased in around 2002. Condition is excellent (especially for a 18 year old bass!) with just a couple of very light surface dings on the body edge. More pics available on request. These are high quality instruments and were priced at around $1000 / £800 new when they came out. I therefore feel I'm offering a bargain at just £SOLD! Happy to courier at your cost (prob around £50 for 24hr UPS via Interparcel). Payment by cash on collection (from Guildford/Woking area), Paypal (you pay all fees) or direct bank transfer. Please see my extensive positive feedback thread for assurance of a clean, honest transaction.

Still my fave soul singer ever..... and much missed. The irreplaceable Sam Cooke... -
Mmmmmmm..... Oops.... I've just crashed the yoghurt truck...!

Yep, this..... I wish Spector would get their finger out and make the Spectorbird shape available as a Euro option!! Also, I'd like them to make a twin J pickup version available of their Euro LX or Classic model.... Apart from these I'm always on the look out for another Hamer Impact bass 😉
-
Score!!! It actually looks like a Euro35LX - 35" scale, so ideal for downtuning (or even restringing B E A D with great string tension). Nice!

Advertise for what YOU want. If you want a balding bloke with a huge beard in his 60's then you obviously want that for a reason. Bands are products and who is anyone else to tell you YOUR product. -
How do you decide whether you like a certain song, band, genre.....?

If it has a vocal.... can they sing? If they can't or their voice grates (to me) it's game over. If it is purely instrumental..... does it stir something in me? Do I get the feeling that the artist/writer has put effort into it/the arrangement/structure? Do I feel a connection on some level (soul, tingling, excitement, emotion, energy)? I don't want much.... just talent, effort and an intangible connection...... -

His vocal stylings were amazing.... the 'Beach Boys' style harmonies he did.... and the jingle stuff he did on the radio back in the day were quite something. A huge talent sorely missed. Sorry for your loss but what wonderful memories, to have known him... -

The Alan Parsons Project have had some amazing guest vocalists. This is my fave track with the beautiful tones of the late Chris Rainbow: And of course, who could forget the emotive Colin Blunstone on the haunting 'Old & Wise': -

I've always been a huge fan of male tenor voices. Steve Perry (Journey) is really THE "be all and end all" in emotive, soulful rock voices for me. Noone comes close. Here he is 'live' back in 1981: Here he is, at his soulful, smoothest: My other fave is Peter Cetera, here with the equally fab Amy Grant in the mid 80's: ....and back with Chicago (in the studio) in the mid 70's: -

Ah yes, they're interchangeable elbow/shoulder spikes.... for when the guitarist/lead singer has REALLY been p*ss*ng you off and you want to bang into him on stage... They were hugely necessary in my experience.

Got one of these - great for the money! I'm upgrading the pickup to a Gzr as the stock are low output. Expecting to hear a vast improvement!
