  1. The fantastic and unique 'Toy Matinee' album with songs written by the late, great Kevin Gilbert (RIP) & Patrick Leonard and some of the most wonderful bass playing ever, courtesy of Guy Pratt:
  2. Funny, I know plenty of pro players on this forum. Not that your statement has anything to do with the thread anyway... You may want to look at your communication skills (and your overuse of the 'comma')?
  3. Ask his Mum. She paid for it..... You can ask her when she brings a cuppa in....
  4. Love my Epi Vintage Pro.... it's not going anywhere :)
  5. It is. PM'd.
  6. Cheers! Just picked up a 5 space pedalboard with soft case & power supply for £35!
  7. Close, but no cigar..... wrong band. Broken Wings was by Mr Mister - singing bassist was the fantastic Richard Page. Peter Cetera was never in Mr Mister, he was a solo artist after some 20+ years singing/playing bass in Chicago.
  8. It's a clip from Wayne's World and Tia Carrere always reminds me of my girlfriend of the time who was half Balinese and looked VERY similar. Mmmmmm........ Marc Ferrari - Keel were part of a group of LA bands (including Black & Blue, Ratt etc) who I was into in the mid 80's. I'd recognise him anywhere. The fact that he's a prolific library music writer I know through my work at PRS.
  9. The 'girl' is actress Tia Carrere The guitarist on the right is Marc Ferrari (guitarist of 'Keel' and now a prolific library music writer)
  10. Actually he barely ever played bass on his solo stuff. He used Pino etc... However he sang and played some mean bass in his original Chicago tenure (from CTA to Chi 16) Others: David Paton (Pilot) Jason Scheff and Jeff Coffey (later Chicago) Gene Simmons (KISS) Kip Winger (Winger) Jack Blades (Night Ranger/Damn Yankees) Joe Puerta (Ambrosia)
  11. A couple of years ago at Wembley Arena - REO Speedwagon blew Status Quo, without Parfitt (RIP), off the stage...
  12. Once you find YOUR tone, sound, etc etc then that's all that matters. It will make you feel happy, play better and rejoice in the connection you feel through your instrument of choice and amplification. I made my bass connection early on when I discovered Spector basses. They work for ME and to my ears sound, look and feel superb. My amp connection took much longer. I played Vox, then Trace, then Ampeg, then TC (with dabblings into Mesa/Peavey/SWR etc) but finally, after 30 years, found my 'sound' using GK (preferably 80's/90's 400RB & 8000RB heads but the new Legacy range do it for me too) and 12" speakers. That's MY experience, they make me feel a positive musical connection and I wouldn't expect anyone else to feel exactly the same. If it's a decent bassline with groove then people will dance... regardless of whether it's through an old Peavey or a brand new D-Class micro head. Anything else is just argumentative b*ll*x....
  13. I may be up for this mate, like everyone else - dependent on date....
  14. Scorpions supporting Judas Priest at Hammy O. Priest dialled it in and Rob Halford prowled the stage looking at the floor. Only gig I've ever left early... Tyketto supporting White Lion at Town & Country Club. Energy, songs and amazing vocals put a pedestrian White Lion to shame....
  15. I have my input trim around noon (with an active Spector). No huge hiss present... and a beautiful bold tone. if I want a little more gain/grit then the overdrive channel is my friend :)
  16. Sod that for a game of soldiers! lol!! I'm just happy if they all work and sound good! 😁
  17. I have never owned an MB head (I only have original 400RB & 800RB heads) but I like the ability to flick the drive switch and add a little 'grit'. In fact I find I have it on permanently just to add a little harmonic 'edge' to my tone.... Enjoy!
  18. Congrats on the purchase! I use mine through a 600W 4ohm Genz Benz Neox 2x12 and my Master Volume barely creeps above 9 - 10am!
  19. As Rich said...... I did the same too. I simply provided Facebook, website & Youtube links.... and I'm an MU member. Had my moulds taken early December and received my plugs just before Xmas.... excellent service! Just remember to have your ears syringed (check with the nurse at your GP surgery to see if necessary) as they won't make moulds if there is any wax build-up...
  20. Stunner.... glwts!
  21. Buy lots while you can. In a year's time it'll be game over for decent prices....
  22. Indeed, they are inherently quite trebley. I usually have to cut the treble on mine.... but then Spectors are bright and grindy... No lack of low end on tap though with the bass/lo-mid controls and bass boost switch.
  23. He's right you know....
  24. I'm loving my Legacy800! Fantastic punchy tones, authority/heft (lol!) and the ability to add a little grind if needed.Back off my tone or use flats and I have clear, solid traditional tones. Since using it 'live' I've had nothing but compliments - from audience members and sound crew alike. Apparently I'm cutting through 2 guitars, keys, drums and four vocals with ease..... though this is probably as much to do with my use of Spectors as the GK... I'd recommend spending the little extra on the 800 rather than the 500. You can never have too much headroom or power and the 800 provides as much as you'd likely ever need (as well as going down to 2 ohms).
  25. I can only do the basics of slap & tapping, never interested in solo-ing and I've no idea of jamming jazz.... However, I've never been without a band, have toured the world and can lock in tight with a drummer as well as turn up on time and be a good bandmate. I guess it depends what you want out of it. I LOVE my basses, playing bass and providing solid basslines in a band. I prefer the traditional role of a bass guitar in blues, folk, rock and roll, rock etc and the grooves in proper original r'n'b, soul, funk etc. Never had any interest in playing lead solo lines, playing 10 string basses or the like.... Everyone is different and gets something different out of it and that's great/as it should be. Personally, I prefer to play my role in a band communicating great music to large groups of people and the inherent energy and emotion that brings...
