The DC/DCX soapbars have a huge sound all of their own. If, however, you miss the classic Spector PJ sound you can easily change them to 35P4(X) and 35J(X) should you require thanks to the click & connect system on current EMG pickups.... Some people seem to like the mixed combination of a P4(X) soapbar in the neck with a DC(X) too... Enjoy!!

I hear you, oh faithful Paulhauser! lol! To address the original question, you won't find low end lacking in any decent Spector, no matter what preamp/pickups are present. I have experience with Barts & EMGs in Spectors and much prefer the EMGs. They are just the perfect match for the Spector construction and aesthetic to me. Preamp-wise my faves are the US Hazlab and the Tonepump with trimpot, I also like the Aguilar OBP and EMG BT circuit but I'm not feeling the Darkglass.....

Sounds fine to me through headphones. Great bass tone. I hear reasonable low end there, but with enough clank to cut through 3 guitarists and a drummer. Job done.... Maybe those who hear no low end aren't listening back on the right device..

Yep. £70. New bridge & block inlay stickers £40. Add the EMG Gzr pickup and I'll be all in for £200. Bargain...

Over the last few weeks I've picked up a cheapie (Harley Benton) and a gorgeous P workhorse (Fender Japan 70's Classic P) .....and finally got back a bass I should never have sold (Pedulla Buzz Deluxe fretless). I've already upgraded the bridge & put blocks on the Harley Benton fretboard...and will be adding EMG Gzr pickup soon. The Fender already has upgraded wiring and the Pedulla is just lush.... so much 'mwaaaaah'!

I'm not really missing it tbh. The travel and a particular band member were a pain in the a*se.... However, said band member has now quit so that's half the hassle gone and we have a few great guys auditioning (when we can!) so hopeful of a better band dynamic. I'm enjoying playing my bass for myself and uploading a few videos and not dealing with band/venue nonsense so, if it never recovers, I'll survive..... but I know when I get back onstage I'll realise how much I missed it... Strange times...

Things is, the only people who will buy DG cabs like that are people who like to saturate their tone with DG pedals/products. In which case, they could plug into any cabinet by a reputable manufacturer. They're just going to sound like every other DG user anyway.... lol!

I own a one-off 'red firecrackle' USA Kramer Spector NS2 that was made for Barry Dunaway (who was touring with Yngwie Malmsteen at the time). I saw him playing it on the Odyssey tour at London Dominion Theatre (and then the 'Trial By Fire - Live In Leningrad' DVD) and was blown away by it. I never dreamt it would come up for purchase some 25 years later.... but when it did (on ebay.com through a shop in Miami, Florida) I pounced and made a low ball offer! I've since become online friends with Barry (who now plays for 38 Special) and he's confirmed that it was indeed his.... and if I ever want to move it on he wants first dibs! I've also got to know the custom spray artist who worked for Kramer/Spector at the time who was commissioned to paint this very bass....

I believe all new models are currently delayed (due to Covid-19 etc). I'm still waiting on the new Euro Classic range to hit the UK. Need to try a solid red Euro Classic with EMG BT circuit...

Please be aware that I can only have this number because I am lucky enough to have access to a secure storage/practice facility..... I can't keep them all at home! lol! Find yourself one of those..... and the wife can't complain

Loving this latest one. Always been a fave bassline of mine and thrilled that people are discovering the Toy Matinee album which has been in my Top 3 albums ever since I first discovered it some 15 years ago....!
