My favourite..... just beautiful..... but it needs to be longer... and with a properly emotive guitar solo on the end! Also love this..... Best Christmas bassline has to be this.... Always had a soft nostalgic spot for this one.... ....and this one... because, well, it's the lovely Kate :)

Warwick to become 'Exclusive Licensee' to Sadowsky!
cetera replied to warwickhunt's topic in Bass Guitars
I give it three years.... and then they'll produce the same instrument, change the tuning peg angle and stop paying Sadowsky for the license- 355 replies

Most memorable gig played: With my classic rock anthems & power ballads theatre show 'Leather & Lace' at Porthcawl Grand Pavilion. A packed theatre, home area gig for 2 of our band members and an electric atmosphere! Least memorable gig played: None really - they've ALL been great! Most memorable gig attended: so MANY great gigs this year.....A 3-way tie..... KISS 'End of the Road tour' at O2 Arena.... amazing show, reasonable ticket price & emotional experience (especially as I had my young Son there to see them in their majesty). Styx at London Palladium. A masterclass in songwriting, performance, harmony vocals and pure class! Young Gun Silver Fox at Nells in West Kensington - amazing original 'yacht rock' band - like a time machine back to late 70's/early 80's Hall & Oates, Doobie Brothers, Toto etc with tight grooves, smooth harmonies and wonderful melodies! Least memorable gig attended: Though not a 'bad' gig per se.... I did find the Las Vegas show 'Raiding The Rock Vault' a huge disappointment at Subteranea, London. Tacky backdrop video, well known musicians & singers (Tony Franlin on the bass!) doing a solid but not fantastic job, poor sound (where was the bass?) and a strange choice of venue....

I'm probably known for having a VERY large number of basses, including numerous Spectors, a very rare Staccato MG, Axe bass etc...... but I'm guessing this US custom Spector NS2X (Spectorbird) is probably one of my best known (the only one in Europe!)

Your best (and worst!) bass gear purchases of 2019?
cetera replied to Al Krow's topic in General Discussion
Best gear purchases this year.... of which there have been many: Basses: Rare US custom Spector NS2-X bass (T-bird shape body). Always wanted one of these as imho they are the best looking/sounding T-bird shaped basses ever. Finally found one in the personal collection of a chap in Russia and struck a deal. Looks beautiful, feels great and sounds incredible! Endorsee special: Dark purple quilted maple top Spector Euro LT. Lighter than an LX and incredibly comfortable. Still getting used to its Bart PJs and custom Darkglass pre-amp as it's a little glassier than I'm used to. Second hand MusicMan Stingray SUB (older US model) for just £330. A few dings on it but now cleaned up and a new set of roundwounds installed it sounds great! Amps: Endorsee special: The latest Gallien Krueger Legacy800 Head. Fantastic small, lightweight, Class D head with a huge amount of power, EQ ability and punch! Nice drive control/channel to add a little grit takes this amp stratospheric! IEM: Thanks to all the advice on these here forums I finally entered the murky world of IEMs. Purchased the LD MEI-1000 wireless system and a set of bargain KZ AS10 5-driver earpieces for a total of just £270! Only used them for one show so far but they're a revelation.... I'm sold! Worst purchases - not sure I've had ANY.... but then I usually do a lot of research before purchasing to avoid such a scenario... -

Me and the drummer. We were founding members of the band and had the idea for our 'product'. We structure it to allow for song sharing between our male and female vocalists, starting/ending with big tunes and looking for complimentary keys where song ending/starts go together well or can flow naturally...

I have very few 'friends', but many 'acquaintances' or 'colleagues'. Proper friendship includes loyalty, understanding, being there for one another etc..... 30+ years in bands proves that (for the most part) my bandmates have not been real friends.

'Raiding The Rock Vault' (Las Vegas all-star show) on it's UK debut at Subterranea in London on Thursday night.... My Wife's A-Cappella group 'Academix' at Guildford Star on Friday night.... Gun/FM & Dan Reed next Wednesday night.... and 'Cloudbusting' (amazing 'Kate Bush' tribute featuring our very own Dave Roberts from thisBasschat parish) at Putney Half Moon next Sunday night!

Why is picking a band name so bloody hard?

I always quite liked 'The Clitoris Allsorts' -
I'll be interested to try/hear these. I love my new GK Legacy800 and get plenty of growl from it. I can't see how these are going to sound any better for what I personally need... I'm guessing they probably just have more overdrive on tap? Regardless, being GK, they will sound excellent - of that I have no doubt!

Sold my lovely Kramer bass to Dave. Instant payment and clear communications. Enjoy, mate!

You're all forgetting the number one rule of Basschat: "Don't talk about Ba..... " Oh dammit! Now you've made me do it....." But seriously, it's generally a fine place full of fine folks with a high tolerance level for each others musical & personal tastes. A perfect example is that, although I have no love for W*rw*ck, I did play a reasonably good one.... Once.... 😁 There, point proven.

This would however sound MUCH better sung by Peter Cetera...... it's a straight songwriting rip of the Peter Cetera & David Foster style from Chicago 16 & Chicago 17 albums!- 7 replies

Sounds familiar. I was in (& managed) a well known tribute for 26 years and shared the social media control with my fellow founding member. We agreed many times that, when either of us decided to call it a day, the band would fold so as not to dilute our hard earned excellent reputation or confuse venues/fans etc. If the other person still wanted to continue then the band could change its name and find a replacement member. Sadly, haven given months of notice, the day after I played my final show I was ejected from the band page & blocked.... and the band continued on with the same name. 26 years of supposed friendship & loyalty gone overnight - and this guy was even Best Man at my wedding. Oh well, seems loyalty counts for nothing.... and his speech was shite tbh! lol! I'm pleased to say that the 2 other (non-founding) band members then jumped ship leaving him having to make replacements for 3 of us. The new version now play to half the audiences and gig reports suggest they aren't anywhere near as good or authentic. Karma is a beach... especially as I'm now out doing bigger and better gigs with superior musicians & singers Onwards and upwards.... living well is the best revenge!

With thanks to @EBS_freak for the advice.... I've just made my entry into the murky world of IEMs! LD MEI1000 wireless with KZ-AS10 5-driver earpieces.... all for under £280! Looking forward to trying these at our theatre gig in a fortnight's time 🙂

I saw the fantastic 'Young Gun Silver Fox' last night at Nells (formerly The Orange) in West Kensington. Sold out show, singing and dancing audience, happy & smiling band, soulful vocals & harmonies, Fender Rhodes, funky horn section, bouncy 70's/early 80's west coast grooves and a bassist with killer tone that could be heard in a great mix - wonderful!! If you like what they now term 'yacht rock' - i.e. Hall & Oates, Michael McDonald-era Doobie Bros, Steely Dan, early Chicago, E,W&F etc then check them out!

Sadly, it sounds to me that your issue was communication with the sender and the dimensions you paid for/failed to inform them of.... :(
