  1. That's sweet. Giving my ideas....!
  2. Sold my Sansamp RPM to Sean in Oz. Fantastic international buyer, no problems with payment or shipping to him. Deal with confidence.
  3. The amazing bass playing on this fantastic mid 70's Lucifer's Friend album!! Give it a listen... Dieter Horns' bass work is astounding....!
  4. Seen them online, but never in this country. Not particularly common.... but I'd like to try one - the double PJ set is cool!
  5. Jazz bass or Super Swede, some bright-ish flats, solid lo mids and an occasional chorus pedal. Job done.
  6. On a separate note.... just how cool is Jeff 'Skunk' Baxter on this vid? Also, of note, is that this song was released in 1972 but this TV pop show footage is likely from 1974 as both Jeff & drummer Keith Knudsen (without silly hat) weren't in the Doobies in 1972.
  7. I believe this was either an old Gibson EB-0 or EB-3 on LTTM, though I seem to recall Tiran mentioning to me that it may have been a P bass. Definitely with flats and prob through an old Ampeg B-15... I love his playing (particularly in the Tom Johnston era - i.e. Toulouse St to Stampede) and he perfectly mixes groove, tone, melody and counterpoint on everything he touches. Honoured to be a good friend of his now.... a fanboy dream come true!
  8. LOVE me some Kayak! Fantastic band....
  9. The new 'Young Gun Silver Fox' album 'Canyons'. This is the lead track...... wonderful Westcoast/Yacht Rock!
  10. Saw that & considered bidding myself.... but just bought a new IEM system and 2 basses! Enjoy! And bring it to the Bass Bash when announced...
  11. It's only de-motivating if you allow yourself to descend down the rabbit hole. I prefer to get out and jam/play live with different musicians, play along to my favourite records at home and learn from my fave bassists by working their parts out by ear, only checking in on Youtube when I'm stuck... Spending too much time on social media or Youtube just takes you away from learning by ear (the best way imho) or with other musicians in the room.
  12. I've played that with many bands...... usually it's the last song of the set..... and can sometimes go on longer depending on how few people are in the audience.... lol!
  13. I've seen many SD tributes and I have found that too..... and for all their smugness they don't get the parts right. However, the best one I've seen is 'Stanley Dee'. Their guitarist, Darren, is a monster! He nails EVERY solo (notes, feel & tone), regardless of original player or style..... and the singer is having so much fun you lose yourself in the grooves and the music
  14. I used to have an SVT-II Pro (Premier Edition) head. Used it 4 times and it crapped out on 2 of those occasions. Apparently the protection circuitry on these was VERY delicate and could kick in at any time. Sod that.... I needed reliability. Got myself a GK800RB and have never looked back. I remember speaking to Ken Hensley (Ampeg rep at the time) and he took me aside aside and simply said "You know when you see bands with these heads onstage.... well they never have just one... and the others aren't plugged in. Make of that what you will..." Always loved the original SVT-II though. Different kettle of fish....
  15. The new GK Legacy800. Punch, authority and a a switchable drive channel with some lovely top end grit/grind. Love mine!
  16. I like some bits of jazz and don't like other bits. I love most Steely Dan. Not sure where any of us are going with this.....
  17. Having recently been interested in entering the murky world of in-ear monitoring I consulted IEM guru @EBS_freak of this parish and, on his recommendation, purchased this fantastic IEM system. Budget price, but excellent performance in a great package. I've only used it approx 5 times (!) and I'm only selling it on as I've been fully converted to the IEM cause and since been offered an expensive high-end Sennheiser G4 system at a bargain price. All present and complete in its carry case with: Transmitter & Aerial Receiver Earphones Rackmount kit Power supply Instruction manual This operates on the license-free UK channel and was £225 new but I'm asking just £150 posted (UK)! Get yourself a set of the fabulous 'KZ' 5-driver earphones for under £40 and you're laughing! A great way to enter the world of IEMs for under £200, rather than laying out £1k+ Payment by Paypal (you pay fees), direct bank transfer or cash on collection from Woking/Guildford area. Please see my extensive positive feedback thread for assurance of a clean, honest transaction. Lots of positive chat abut this system on this very site too: https://www.basschat.co.uk/search/?q=mei1000 *NOW ON HOLD*
  18. Bought a fab Sennheiser IEM system from Andy. Great comms, superb product and a smooth transaction. Recommended!
  19. Not forgetting 'Anal Love In The Heart Of The City' by Whitesnake...
  20. When I've worked with tribute bands I've always learned the album versions exactly.... then listened to live versions from different eras and picked out any tasty 'live fills' the original bassist added and adapted them into the bassline.... so it becomes a 'best of'. With cover bands I've always got as close as possible but with some wiggle room. Funny thing is...... having played the tunes for months/years, when I eventually go back and listen to the original I've usually strayed miles from the original bassline over time! lol!
  21. Amen to that....
  22. Me too.... at Farnham Maltings. Superb stuff :)
  23. Just purchased a lovely Epi Vintage Pro & case from Michael. Great communication & a fantastic instrument. Deal with confidence!
  24. Oh, how hilarious. Careful with that wit Eugene, someone might use it back at you with a band you enjoy....
  25. I saw them in Islington Academy - special one-off club show for £40.
