I used to whistle the descending raygun sound into the mic! lol!

Managed to get half hour on the Legacy 800 again on Saturday (courtesy of a reviewer friend) and it certainly seems the biz! Loved the sound flat (which I almost never do!) and a little drive on..... once I added/took away EQ it came alive with so much EQ power I felt irresponsible turning the knobs! lol! I can certainly see one of these in my purchasing future..... VERY soon!

I'm streamlining my FX and sadly I've decided to let go of this fabulous 80's analog octave pedal as I'm just not using it in my current regular project. If you're looking at this you probably know how great it is - check out google for reviews and you'll see that not only is it a fantastic analog octave pedal but it is very collectible! +1 Octave Up as well as +1 down AND +2 down ...for classic octave bass sounds and also blendable for the craziest octave/synth bass sounds you could ask for ! This example is in excellent condition but without its box. Price includes UK shipping. Payment accepted by BACS, Paypal gift or cash on collection from Guildford/Woking area. Please see my extensive feedback for assurance of a clean, honest transaction. Thanks!

I've decided to move on this awesome Octaver pedal as it's just not getting used in my current project.... This one is a bit special as I bought it from the legendary TM Stevens who was selling a load of his unused outboard gear online. In excellent, boxed condition with instruction booklet and original unused velcro stickers provided. Now just £110! Price includes UK shipping. No trades, thanks! Payment by BACS, Paypal gift or cash on collection from Guildford/Woking area. Please see my extensive feedback thread for assurance of a clean, honest transaction. Thanks!

Maybe as it's the 3 moderators arguing between themselves that has sent this thread 'off topic' they could just get a room and have a bass play-off between themselves so that this one can get back 'on topic'?

Love the colour of that. If I saw a cheap PJ loaded version of it I'd be all over it...

Thanks Joel. Nice to see a positive and constructive response rather than accusations of a 'whingefest'.

Classic timewaster has been PM-ing me. My ad says "£400 firm" and NO trades. He asks "Trades or £300?" NO thanks. I reiterate "£400 firm". He offers "£350 cash" NO thanks. I reiterate "£400 firm" He replies that he's "OK thanks" WTF was the point of all that?!? Can people not read?! I'm all for making one CLOSE offer (we all do it) but after that? Really....?!?

Many albums have made a big impact on me musically of the years... but the first album that really changed the way I thought about bass was 'Eat Em & Smile' by David Lee Roth...

Not sure whether to take offence or not. I didn't whinge in the slightest....

I had a limited chance to demo the new Legacy head at the Gtr & Bass Show yesterday and it sounded great. Even with EQ flat it had clarity, depth, authority and dare I say it 'heft'. Engaging the drive channel really added a nice grit boost and it certainly felt like it had 'authority'. Once I've had a chance to give it a proper go in a quieter environment I just may purchase one (prob the 800)!

Ross Valory is not only an accomplished bassist.... but also a champion 'gurner'... lol! Loved his tone and his interesting choice of basses too.... from a P Bass with J neck, to a Peavey T-40, to an Ovation Magnum, to a Steinberger, to a Jackson Concert to a Curbow and more.... never boring and ALWAYS with great 'mid-boosted' tone!

I attended yesterday with Hamster & Darren Redick (from Planet Rock). I much preferred the venue, easier to walk around and more space to see the stands etc.... but the vendor/distributor/manufacturer attendance did seem small. As others have mentioned - no Gibson, Yamaha, Roland, Line 6, Sandberg, Rotosound etc which was disappointing. Even Promenade Music's usual 'second hand' stall seemed smaller. I'm guessing that stand prices for the weekend were higher than before.... The overall volume level was slightly more more manageable due to the cavernous ceiling height - I could actually talk to stallholders (WITHOUT breathing in their ears!) - but again the 'quiet times' were completely ignored. Really - what is the point if noone is going to enforce it?!? I can only imagine the hearing exhaustion that people working there must be experiencing this morning. My highlights - the excellent Spectors (of course), the white Anaconda Ultra J bass, the Bass Collection 'Betsy', the 'vibrating' strap pack for sale on the Bass Direct stand and the new fab new GK Legacy heads. Meeting lots of friends, fellow players and acquaintances was a bonus as well as the splendid Devin Townsend who was cool Best bit? The networking opportunities mean I may just have secured myself another gear endorsement!

That was my first bass too! Yep, a Kay Tulip...

Let the covers band run - see if any paying gigs come in but leave it on the backburner and don't pay it much mind.... Dump the originals band #1 and concentrate on the 2nd originals band. Keep searching for a busier and more fun covers band to join. You can then dump the other covers band if you feel the need. Job done :)

well known artists that never or hardly ever do gigs

The Alan Parsons Project were basically a studio venture from 1976 until 1990 when they made one live appearance at a European Night Of The proms event. In 1993 Alan Parsons himself decided to take a live band out on tour and has toured pretty much annually since.
