  1. Nice score! She's a beauty! :)
  2. My favourite practice tone is also MY favourite everything tone. Spector Euro or NS2 into GK400RB or 800RB and a Genz Neox212.
  3. .... and so it begins
  4. It normally starts from around 10am, £10 payable on the door to cover venue hire/insurance etc and tea/coffee/cakes/pastries will be available. Just bring your bass(es) & rig, set up and share in the day with other like minded bassists. A full programme for the day will be provided shortly :)
  5. c) If you're in an originals band then you want to be sharing your music, building a fanbase and widening your appeal. With that in mind it is always good to pick up support slots to established acts and build your network of venues, fans, potential supports etc.
  6. My Rock Anthems & Power Ballads show 'Leather & Lace' are playing the Wilde Theatre, South Hill Park, Bracknell on Sat 21st Sept.... then Maddermarket Theatre, Norwich on 4th Oct & Empire Theatre, Halstead on Sat 5th Oct.
  7. Does anyone fancy running a chat on "An introduction to IEM"? @EBS_freak? Also, how about an Octave pedal shoot-out? Anyone fancy running that?
  8. Any musician worth his salt and with time on his hands is often in more than one band. Just remember the rule re: booking clashes.... "First in the diary".
  9. Could be the last chance for anyone interested in a Bantam to get one! They have ceased production on these now so they will become a sought after instrument.... GLWTS
  10. EMG Geezer pickups. Monstrous! http://www.emgpickups.com/bass/signature-sets-bass/passive/gzr-p.html
  11. Interesting video, thanks and the answer is YES, they ARE great basses. I currently own 27 of them, from an original 1977 SB1, thru pre-Kramer, Kramer-era, SSD, Euro and custom Woodstock models. All superbly made and with characters of their own. Your video states that you have 'upgraded' to Bartolini pickups? I'd argue that is not so much an upgrade as a change.... and Spector offering more options now is, imho, simply a way of widening their appeal (like different size engines in cars for different personal preferences) rather than heading in a certain sound direction. Personally, I've never found any of my EMG loaded Spectors to lack in versatility. Rolling off the tone with EMGs or using month old strings can produce a very similar sound to your demo. My most recent purchase of the new EuroLT model, which actually has custom wound Bartolini PJ pickups and a Darkglass pre, again sounds very different to your bass. Any preamp or pickup change is going to change the sound of any bass. Are your strings flatwound or just well played? I only ask because there's very little real crispness or punch coming from that bass.... unless of course that is the pickups or the pre-amp? You also don't state what preamp you have put in it.... If that sound suits you then that's great and enjoy this fabulous instrument! Personally, no offence, but I prefer a little more 'life' in my Spector sound :)
  12. Which I do anyway. I've never needed one.... Which surely is the main issue.....!? Nothing changed then.... so frustrating! Exactly! So, it's all still a mess..... :(
  13. Fingers crossed! https://www.npr.org/2019/08/27/754509680/musical-instruments-to-be-exempt-from-restrictions-on-heavily-trafficked-rosewoo?t=1566918468868
  14. Gorgeous.... especially with the Hazlab pre..!
  15. Yep. Nope. Lol!!
  16. As a point of info - just to say - the new LT models have a custom designed Darkglass 2 band circuit, not the 3 band Tone Capsule.
  17. Pictures would help....?

    Why?

I actually wanted to learn how to do the solos you hear in every rock song from the period but, in my ignorance (I was very young), thought the instrument playing them was called a bass. My guitar teacher proceeded to teach me bass and I soon realised I'd been VERY wrong. I loved the new REAL bass parts I was learning though and kept with it. Don't regret it in the slightest....
  19. I've probably done that this year too. I have 72 basses now.... but 2 are for sale 😉
  20. 72 at the moment. 2 for sale though...
  21. Only when their playing sounds like they're falling down the stairs! lol!
  22. Popped into Andertons for my regular browse and they had this second hand beauty in stock.... at half the price of a new one! Swapped out the black pickguard for a slightly used tort one I had and voila.....! Proper P bass, fantastic 'ash' tones and a bound neck. Lovely
  23. New Spector bass day! Landed a week ago but this is my first chance to get it photographed and uploaded 😉 Spector EuroLX 'Rachel Bolan' sig model 😎 Sounds, looks and feels fantastic! 🎸 A question for you all though.... I'm not sold on the red 'crowns'. Would it be heresy to cover them with white MOP decals?
  24. I prefer to set up in the side room, cheers.
  25. He still records with them.... he's just worried about using them 'live' since he had his 2 faves stolen on the road back n the day.... :(
