  1. So, finances allowing..... in 2025 what bits of gear are on your GAS wish list? Me? I'd like: Epiphone Grabber (if/when they drop to a sensible price) - not sure on natural or black though.... Epiphone G3 (possibly......dependent on price when they're finally released) Squier 40th Anniversary P bass (black and gold with block inlays) LFSys Monaco 1x12 cab
  2. I find it no different to playing a regular bass, except high up where it is easier. Tbh, I forget about it half the time when I'm playing...
  3. All 4 string styles: Spector NS Hamer 1+3 Fender P Jackson Pointy Hamer 4 on top
  4. Great dep gig last night at The Plough in Farnham, Surrey with the 'Lee Aaron Band'. Not loads in, but a great sound and everyone who did attend fully interacted with the music by singing and dancing. Can't ask for more than that.....
  5. Still there for me (Feb delivery though): https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0006IQLG8/ref=ox_sc_saved_image_1?smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&psc=1
  6. Answers: 1: 4 2: Both 3: Nope 4: Nope 5: Solid foundation You're welcome 🤣😂
  7. I bought a five once..... then calculated I'd spent the £500 on £100 per extra low note, of which I would barely ever even use the 1st £200 worth in 95% of what I play. Didn't seem like a worthwhile investment so returned it. Bought a 2nd hand Digitech Drop and tuned one of my other basses down so I could use either when required.
  8. Who?
  9. Ticket sale money will go to the fund!
  10. Sadly I can't now make the SOLD OUT 'Young Gun Silver Fox' gig at Islington Assembly Hall on Saturday night. https://islingtonassemblyhall.co.uk/events/young-gun-silver-fox-30th-nov-islington-assembly-hall-london-tickets/ If you like classic 'West Coast/Rock n Soul' you will love them. Think Hall & Oates meets Doobie Brothers..... If anyone would like to buy my ticket from me I will donate the money to @AndyTravis daughter Iris' fund (as discussed extensively elsewhere). The ticket is just £20 and I can transfer in the Ticketmaster App.
  11. Played a tiny pub in Send, Surrey on Sat night with a local covers band I've recently joined for sh*ts n giggles... We had to set up down one end of the pub, in front of the roaring fireplace, which meant the drummer pleading with the landlady to extinguish the fire after soundcheck as his back was hotter than the sun 🤣 Howling wind and rain meant probably only about 25-30 in but a fun night. Played my 40th Anniversary Squier P as I seldom take my Spectors out to unknown pub venues..... but it sounded & performed admirably! Punters seemed to enjoy the 60's/70's set (Kinks, Bowie, T Rex, Elvis Costello, Ian Dury, Joe Jackson, John Denver, Neil Young, Squeeze etc) and I even had two guys come up and compliment me on doing 'Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick'! Apparently they'd never heard anyone attempt it before....!
  12. Lack of music lessons in school, minimal funding for music (and the arts in general) in education (always the 1st to be cut when savings need to be made) and general undervaluing of music in society.
  13. Price is still £18.99 on mine, but delivery date (Prime) is Sun 29th Dec.
  14. Stanley Dee (Excellent 'Steely Dan' tribute) last night at The Half Moon in Putney. Great energy, fantastic musicianship and a 'feel good' atmosphere
  15. A sad loss. RIP Dave
  16. Balls. I would have loved a purple one
  17. @AndyTheBassBison Bathroom scales say approx 4.1kg / 9lbs
  18. A double set of D'Addario 45-105 Long Scale Nickel strings for £18.99?!?!? Count me in! https://amzn.eu/d/3uqt9Ua
  19. Just starting a thread where we can all post any Black Friday deals we find on basses and/or amps, strings, pedals, gear etc...
  20. Price drop!
  21. Bought a tablet holder from John. Great comms and fast postage. Recommended
  22. Debut gig/1st album launch party by 'Big Horizon' (which is 5 of the guys from Jeff Lynne's ELO and Take That live bands) at Pizza Express Live in Holborn, London. Great original music in the Hall & Oates, Doobie Bros, Ambrosia etc 'yacht rock' style played by some of the finest musicians and singers on the live circuit. Had a nice chat with frontman Iain Hornal (who also appears with 10CC) and bassman extraordinaire Lee Pomeroy afterwards too. Fantastic stuff!
  23. I don't, because I don't have an audio system of decent enough quality to make the most of it. Having heard his fantastic work with the classic 'Chicago II' album though I'm sure it's excellent!
