A bass (fully boxed up and weighing 9kgs) I sent to Germany cost £60 (fully insured for £500). Depending on value, insurance, size and packaging costs this may be right or a little overpriced. The judgement is yours...

Possibly the best known and most used bass rack preamp on the market. Classic solid bass tones and that rock grind when needed.... Barely used and housed in a rack so excellent condition. These go for £360 (RRP)/£300 (shop price) new but I'm asking just *SOLD* The 1U rackmount Tech 21 SansAmp RBI is a pumped-up, expanded version of the popular SansAmp Bass Driver DI pedal. In addition to Drive, Presence, and active Bass and Treble controls, the SansAmp RBI adds a dedicated Mid control and an XLR Output Level control for optimum performance with PA systems. It also features an Effect Loop with a Mix 50/50 switch (for parallel or series operation), an XLR output with selectable levels, and a buffered direct XLR output to provide a dry signal. Include access to the most coveted classic and modern bass tones, with unlimited freedom to create your own, and the SansAmp RBI is practically mandatory for any bass player! I'm also selling the RPM preamp on a separate thread..... combine the two and split to lows and highs and you can run one for super clean lows.... and the other for grinding highs for that ultimate rock bass tone! Show up at any studio with just a SansAmp RBI and plug directly into the board Gig with the SansAmp RBI directly through the house PA without using a separate amp. Take a more "traditional" set-up to a gig with a SansAmp RBI, power amp and speaker cabinet, and run directly through the house P.A. system. Plug through your existing bass amp to widen your tonal palette or add a bit of grit! http://www.tech21nyc.com/support/manuals/sansamp/RBI-OM.pdf Payment by cash on collection (Woking/Guildford area or meet in SE for petrol money), Paypal - you pay fees, or direct bank transfer. Please see my extensive feedback thread for assurance of a clean and honest transaction. Thanks!

If you're looking - you already know how fantastic this preamp is! The preferred choice for many years of Geddy Lee among others.... a truly versatile preamp for all situations. Nowhere seems to have these in stock in the UK at the moment so this is quite rare. RRP is £350 but I'm offering mine up (excellent condition/boxed) for just £240 posted. Only real marks are some slight discolouration on the back panel. The Tech 21 SansAmp RPM is a versatile instrument 1u rack pre-amp with parametric equalization and SansAmp technology. This single space rackmount model was adapted from our SansAmp Acoustic DI pedal, with the addition of a Drive control, and redesigned as an expanded multi-instrument tool. With a sweepable, semi-parametric EQ and variable gain, the SansAmp RPM is a supercharged tone shaper for any signal source. Partner it with a SansAmp RBI for the ultimate bass pre-amp system (see my other thread for a RBI for sale), or with a SansAmp PSA for total domination. Drive adjusts the overall amount of gain and overdrive. Active Bass and Treble controls cut or boost ±12dB Mid is also an active tone control, cut or boost ±12dB. Mid Shift allows you to pinpoint your preferred Mid Freq to cut/boost Blend allows you to mix the direct instrument signal with SansAmp Tube Amplifier Emulation circuitry. Individual Level control for the XLR out to optimize your amp's output relative to the P.A. system. Effects Loop with Mix 50/50 switch to configure in series or parallel. 1/4" rear input and XLR output with selectable levels. http://www.tech21nyc.com/support/manuals/sansamp/RPM-OM2.pdf Payment by cash on collection (Woking/Guildford area or meet in SE for petrol money), Paypal - you pay fees, or direct bank transfer. Please see my extensive feedback thread for assurance of a clean and honest transaction. Thanks!

Sounds great! :)

Indeed. When it comes to her songwriting I heard someone recently point out that the first 3 or 4 albums were full of songs where she was writing/imagining situations from other character's points of view. The later stuff is written from her own personal experiences.... Combine that with the change in her production methods etc and it really is like 2 different artists...

It was always about the first 3 albums for me. A much more organic sound and better songs (in general) imho, though there's no denying the quality of some later songwriting (e.g. This Woman's work, Dream Of Sheep, Cloudbusting, Hounds Of Love etc etc). Tbh, I have found all the albums (from The Dreaming onwards) to be a lot more patchy and over reliant on technology/sampling etc at the expense of songwriting. I particularly love the fantastic bass work of David Paton on the early albums and the wonderful bass contributions have continued since with Del Palmer, Eberhard Weber, John Giblin etc!

Ah yes.... I saw when that was forming and put myself forward but I live too far away :( Good luck & enjoy!

Yup, interesting from a 'fill 5 mins watching youtube' point of view...... but he changed playing styles on each bass and who knows what age of strings etc the basses had.... A Spector certainly sounds different in my hands, that's for sure.....

With my bass hero - Peter Cetera of Chicago With Richard Searle of Corduroy: With Del Palmer (of Kate Bush Band) With Richard Jones of The Feeling (looking like my Son!) Me (in make-up/outfit) with Gene Simmons! With the fantastic Billy Sheehan: With my favourite face-puller Ross Valory of Journey With Kip WInger: With Carmine Rojas (Bowie, Rod Stewart, Joe Bonamassa etc) With the legend that is Herbie Flowers (sessioneer extraordinaire)

Such sad news.... a valued member of our bass community and a top bloke. Please remember to pop a little in his funeral expenses collection as a way of showing your appreciation: https://www.gofundme.com/wake-for-our-friend-colin-payne

Dave Bickler (ex-Survivor singer and the voice of 'Eye Of The Tiger) at The Garage in London last night. Lots of melodic rock classics with a backing band made up of members of Son Of Man, FM, Buck & Evans and my own 'Leather & Lace'. His voice was pretty good after all these years and he seemed a splendid chap when I met him afterwards :)

Should BCers declare commercial or similar interests?
cetera replied to Beedster's topic in General Discussion
Though I own and endorse a large amount of Spector equipment I big it up because I have extensive experience playing their instruments and I believe in them......NOT for any commercial or financial gain. If Warwick offered me an endorsement I'd say no thanks because I don't like their recent product.... 😉 -
Result! Welcome to the (more than one) Spector club! 😎
-
Fantastic songs, basslines and production - what's not to like? Rutger & Mike played some lovely, melodic lines - almost songs in themselves and should be standards in any bassist's arsenal!
-
I think you could be my Brother from a different Mother! 😉 😂
-
Welcome Martin! That would have been a Spector NS2. Stunning basses, of which I'm honoured to own more than a few.... The NS2A was Korean made and came in teal, red, black and white

Maybe next time chap..... Have a great gig yourself!

Thankyou re: harmonies. We spent a lot of time getting it right 🙂 Warwick?!?!?!?!?!? Pfffffft...... it's a Spector! No 'copies' around here 😉 I use a GK400RB or 800RB. Plenty of low end & glassy top from the Spector....Lo mid boost on the GK. 🙂

Can you please put all the decent bassist seminars on the Sunday afternoon? I'll be gigging Saturday which means I'm unavailable from early afternoon on the Saturday. Sunday afternoon will give me a chance to lie in on Sunday morning and then take a leisurely journey up at lunchtime. Cheers! 😉

Kate Bush tribute 'Cloudbusting' last Friday night at the Half Moon, Putney featuring our very own @sprocketflup on fretted, fretless and electric cello! So many great songs, so many fantastic basslines.... and so many tears of emotion. Wow!! (pun) It doesn't get better than that!
