Great review! But one BIG omission.... the 'Chunk' control! This one little control has such a huge effect on the overall distorted tone by adjusting the dynamics and harmonic overtones in the sound....

I tried an NG2 thru headphones at a trade show and LOVED it - sounded awesome! A couple of months later I ordered one. Got it now, it looks fabulous and the fan frets are no problem.... I just can't get THE sound I want out of it through an amp though..... :( As soon as I put it down and pick up my Spector I'm back in my happy place. There's THE sound that that oozes authority, clarity and grind....! I also find the Dingwall bridge uncomfortable when playing with a pick - a little sharp... YMMV

I've recently started depping for a very busy 8-piece function band who have a habit of mixing up their set constantly. For anyone depping it is a nightmare trying to keep up during the changes etc so they have all instrument tracks on backing tracks and can select which ones to keep/lose for each gig according to who's depping. I started my first gig with them, my volume turned up and playing along..... but as the gig went on I gradually turned myself down and faced the drummer (pretending to groove hard) while miming to the tracks for the rest of the set! lol! I started with best intentions, but ultimately the battle was too hard and rather than play wrong notes/miss sudden cues I just went for the easy option..... I've done a couple more since so my miming skills must be awesome and the band leader has thanked me for a gig well done each time!

The Spector NS1 was designed in 1977 so a few more years than that....

Welcome to the club! That's a beauty you have there - congrats!
-
You can bet that the quality control is a tad better too

Welcome to the light side!

Absolutely fantastic instrument! You'll love it - especially if you like the jazz-like neck dimensions of the Doug Wimbish model.... A word of advice - the Tonepump preamp is very hot so if you feel it is putting out too much signal use the internal trimpot on the preamp box to turn it down a little :)

Welcome Derek..... good choice with the Spectors!

One off Euro factory build arranged thru distributor Korg. Stuart and the US custom shop had no hand in it by all accounts...
-
Ah, you've gotta be quick.... they probably realised they were making no profit! lol!

Not A Word About The Queen Movie Bohemian Rhapsody?
cetera replied to Bluewine's topic in General Discussion
Apparently not. It was a couple of years before any diagnosis occurred. Other mistakes include how Freddie met Mary Austin and the band, Freddie having a moustache at the time of writing 'We Will Rock You' and timeline/factual issues around Freddie's solo album/supposedly the band breaking up etc etc The Mike Myers character (Ray Foster) is fictitious too.... I spotted them at the time but chose to enjoy the film as 'entertainment' rather than a factual record. Here's some more info I've just discovered: https://www.express.co.uk/entertainment/films/1041132/Bohemian-Rhapsody-movie-true-story-how-accurate-Freddie-Mercury-fact -
Not A Word About The Queen Movie Bohemian Rhapsody?

Freddie wasn't diagnosed with Aids until well after Live Aid - that's the big one. It wasn't the big emotional reason for Live Aid performance being so epic... -
Can I bring a new or second hand bass back from US?

Can I bring a new or second hand bass back from US?

Replying 'for a friend'.... He may (or may not) have brought back a number of basses from the US on more than one occasion.... and walked straight through the nothing to declare channel each time... As you were..... -
Saw the Feeling at their 12th Anniversary performance of the "Twelve Stops And Home" debut album at Shepherds Bush Empire on Friday night! Such wonderful, well crafted power pop tunes and performed so well. They are a hugely entertaining and engaging band, great arrangements and vocal harmonies and Richard Jones plays some wonderful melodic bass throughout. Textbook!.

Yeah, Hans Peter Pilfer has lots of those....... *cough* Spector royalties *cough* 😂

So, just how many basses do you own ????
