  1. Lol! I spent 26 years wearing all that stuff...... never again! The cowboy hat could be arranged, for a 'professional fee'....
  2. Been thinking about revisiting a 6x10 cab....... I had a Berg NV610 for a while a few years back and loved the sound/weight but it may be a little expensive to pick up another one used now..... Anyone have real world experience of other used cabs and can offer opinions/suggestions etc e.g. SWR Goliath SR, Ampeg 610HLF etc? I'm interested in tightness of tone, punch, low end authority (not muddy!) and weight/value for money.... Cheers!
  3. Lol! No offence taken We'll be up to see you when our Agent gets their act in gear and actually books us some more gigs!..... who knows when?!
  4. How VERY dare you!! I played bass at the time with the MUCH better KISS tribute 'Dressed To Kill'....NOT Hotter Than Hell! lol!! Having said that, Hotter Than Hell ARE prob better than DTK these days I was using the rackmount Bass Pod on 1976 SVT setting with my SVT3 as purely a power stage. Add in a BBE Sonic Maximiser through the 2x15 Mesa Diesel cab I had and "Hear Me Roar"!!! A monstrous, full, growling and punchy tone! Loved it B)
  5. Fantastic cab..... had one once & wish I could justify having another one. GLWTS!
  6. Nothing wrong with this. It's a completely legit US Spector. It's not a standard NS2/NS4/NS5 shape or pickup configuration.... but that doesn't mean it's not a US Spector or part of their NS range. Bargain right there.
  7. Sold my TC amp/footswitch to Mike....easy & pleasant transaction with great comms. Highly recommended! Enjoy it Mike!
  8. You could get a 5-string Spector with soapbars and make sure they are/change them to the EMG P/J within soapbar housing so they sound like PJ's but look like soapbars....
  9. 'Cinematic' lyrics from "Take Me Away (Together As One)" on the fantastic Paul Stanley solo album (1978) Yesterday is far away, so take me out to sea Far away, I'll live what never will be Check me, to lose or win, I'll live in memories The trip begins, the dream I'm in.... sets me free
  10. Spector WILL do a 5 string neckthru with P/J set up but only from their US custom shop. I have a friend in the US with one.... and it was pricey.
  11. Doug is one of the loveliest people I've ever met..... and having played his old Spector I know it to be one of the most fantastic feeling, played in, instruments I've ever got my hands on.... However, his pedal-filled, dusty end of the neck playing does nothing for me either. All very well at a clinic but otherwise leaves me cold... The first 2 (Muzz) Living Colour albums were the ones for me too..... super solid playing and grooves. Loved them!
  12. Black & chrome.... gorgeous! Too many strings for me though
  13. Yep, imagine the sales Rickenbacker could make with a cheaper Euro or high quality Far-Eastern version of their classic design, as Spector have done with their Czech and Korean models..... Definitely a missed opportunity! I prefer my Japanese made Fender & Tokai P's & J's over any US made ones I've tried..... and the Euro Spector is a fantastically built/sounding instrument at half the price of a full US custom shop.
  14. Tribute bands who play 'concert tariff' venues regularly do..... and so they should.... Sadly, only some cover bands in pubs/clubs that claim under the 'gigs & clubs scheme' include their cover songs in their declared set list.....
  15. You should always list ALL songs, cover or not. After all, the writer of the song you covered is entitled to their share. I'm sure you'd appreciate someone listing your songs should they cover them
  16. There is NOTHING wrong with that colour......... it's gorgeous!!! Add the fact that it's on a beautiful Spector and it was a win/win! Doh....
  17. The Spector will provide you with a 'P bass on steroids' punch... and more....! Plus the reverse P means a tighter, piano-like tone on the E string :-)
  18. The new Styx album 'The Mission'....... just fantastic! A proper, old-school 'concept album' featuring supreme musicianship, songwriting, arrangements and vocals. Here's a vid of their amazing drummer Todd Sucherman playing my favourite song on the album:
  19. This! The Spector has a much wider tonal palette, including a lot more low-end heft (should it be required). Build quality and attention to detail is second to none (as is their customer service) and it is also one of the most comfortable basses you can play.... I've always wanted to own/like a classic Jetglo Ricky but in my experience there are LOTS of poor quality ones around, they're not particularly comfortable to play and, apart from THAT sound, there's not a lot to them that justifies their overinflated prices.
  20. Check out the albums CTA, Chicago II, Chicago V and Chicago VI for starters mate. Fantastic rock/jazz/pop crossovers.... killer grooves, rocking guitar, legendary horn section and 3 lead singers!
  21. I had one of these a few years ago. Great amps...... especially for combining the pre-amps and creating nasty new tones... lol! GLWTS
  22. The Chicago version wins out every time!
  23. Glen Campbell singing Jimmy Webb's fantastic 'Wichita Lineman': "And I need you more than want you........ And I want you for all time"
