  1. Had just got a new Spector Euro and took it to rehearsal. Put it on a stand and drummer knocked over one of his cymbal stands which fell straight onto the edge of the body making a thru lacquer to wood gouge below the bridge
  2. Getting REALLY excited for this! Any update on arrival in the UK?!
  3. A sweeping statement that means nothing. I love a good US Precision, but I've played and owned better Japanese made Fender P's for half the price. I love a good P sound but have an old Tokai P that delivers an identical tone (possibly even better). The Precision is an icon and I love it. But there are imho equally good and/or better and more versatile instruments out there..... many of which suit alternative styles of playing better.....
  4. I'd get Stuart Spector to build me a USA NS2 4 string, with Kramer-era neck dimensions, dark ultraviolet (purple) finish on a 5A quilted maple body, ebony fingerboard with abalone crown inlays, hazlab preamp and gold hardware..... ...... and a box of tissues.....
  5. You'd be unlikely to obtain a new fretted neck. Unless someone breaks up and sells parts (unlikely) you will have to buy another bass.
  6. My old amp - wish I had the readies to buy it back - it's a tone MONSTER!! Glwts mate!
  7. Gorgeous facings on this. A beauty!!
  8. I'll take it. Will PM you.
  9. I REALLY fancy a new Epi Vintage Pro TBird..... but can't decide between white and ebony! Oh the choice.....
  10. I love my Spectors! I love the sleek shape, the ergonomic belly curve, the solid build, the finishing quality, the attention to detail, the comfortable neck, the history, the customer service/support, the crown inlays and the range of solid, authoritative & USABLE tones
  11. Yeah, but he only needed 4.....
  12. Of those two Spector fretless basses I've only ever tried the Spectorcore and was mighty impressed. Lovely woody tone and lightweight to boot....
  13. A stunner! Congrats& enjoy!
  14. Oh, come on! That's hardly fair...!! I've only got 70 so far!
  15. I've got my perfect rig for my preferred sound/main projects: Spector US/Euro basses thru old GK800RB and a Genz Neo212T ....so I'm not searching for that 'elusive tone' so much. For me now it's about collecting, enjoying owning and playing other basses that I've always fancied..... or having ones that are more suitable for other gigging situations e.g. old Fender P with flats
  16. SSD - NS94 model. VERY nice! They were a great precursor to the NS2000/4 model that followed when Stuart got the Spector name back. Congrats!
  17. Is that a euphemism?
  18. It sounds simple but you know what I believe really appeals to people? A band who are having a good time and can communicate that to the audience and then feed back off the energy the audience sends back in return. Of course there are exceptions - whinge rock like Radiohead etc but there are exceptions to every rule in life. Music will always sound better if you have the required level of chops to execute it to the level it deserves/requires..... but a smile and an element of 'personality' or 'charisma' surely helps sell it.
  19. I always thought his playing sounded like he was falling down the stairs with his bass. I do hope he hasn't. Nice bloke and all that....
  20. Thankfully not...... my ears have been a lot happier this year!
  21. For me - my fave part is always catching up with old friends and fellow board members. To that end it was most satisfying Bass-wise, little gave me gas (which is always a good thing!). I love seeing all the beautiful exotic wood/shape luthier basses but I'd never buy one as £4k for a bass that is so unique it would be worth £1K on the used market the next day just doesn't appeal..... worse than new car/used car depreciation.... Enjoyed the Spector stand - the new Ltd Editon Euro SE LX basses were divine with their Koa-topped looks, but I was disappointed that they had neither the Timbre acoustic or Rudy Sarzo Sims-loaded Euro available in time for the show. Bass Direct had some fab basses as always - the Dingwalls were quite something and I had a lovely chat with Sheldon Dingwall too. What a nice chap! In fact, delayed GAS for their Dbird (felt, played and sounded awesome) may just have taken hold of me.... Amp-wise, nothing took my fancy - which is fine as I've never been happier than with my current amp set up. Phew! Volume-wise I felt it was better than previous years - less slappers, though I agree that the Eich/Darkglass stalls were unnecessarily loud at times. I only took in one seminar as I was busy chatting to friends etc... and that was Guy Pratt. Brilliantly funny as usual but I was disappointed it was the same comedy routine I saw on his recent tour. I thought he would actually be doing a bass seminar discussing technique, displaying his famous lines in full etc.... oh well - a missed opportunity maybe.... Same time next year?!
  22. If you loved it so much why didn't you just swap out the preamp for something else?
  23. I'm between Woking and Guildford. Thanks for offer but I'm aiming to head up to Clapham Jct on train and then take the train/bus to Olympia...
  24. Yep, same here. On Surrey/Hants border...... and intending to come up early Saturday morning. Hopeful of a quieter (in numbers AND slapping noise!) show this year so I can enjoy it more
