Hope you love it! It was a sound that I loved
The official Spector Facebook page just posted a tribute, which I think is a nice touch.
Yep, Spector are a class act as usual....

I'm very sad to have to inform you that we've lost one of our own. Gary Slater (aka Grunge666), Spector bassist and Orange/Barefaced user... and bassist of W Mids rockers 'Iconic Eye' passed away unexpectedly last night. He leaves a loving family and lots of good friends... Sleep well my friend x

You're welcome mate - enjoy!!

Just sold my Carvin amp to Martin. Plenty of clear and regular communication and a straightforward transaction. Lovely bloke too Recommended!

Congrats! You can't go wrong with that cab...... it's sounded phenomenal with every amp I've ever put through mine!

Sean bought my Power Amp. Quick and clear communications throughout and and the deal was done with no fuss. Highly recommended! Thanks mate! Enjoy....

You need to try the Ian Hill or Doug Wimbish model then.....
I went and had a play. I tried both a Rebop and a Euro LX (some kind of signature model, all white).
Ah yes, that's the Mike Starr (Alice In Chains) sig model.....

Firstly, seeing Gary Tibbs live onstage with his Wal bass with Adam & The Ants..... Followed by Gene Simmons with his Spectors (my love affair with Spector began here), Steve Harris with his P basses and then listening to Tiran Porter of The Doobie Brothers and Peter Cetera on the first 13 Chicago albums.....
Gary will be along in a minute...
Don't panic Mr Mainwaring, I'm here!
I have owned and own several Spectors from almost every level: Korean, Euro and US. I have to say that one of the biggest pro for this brand is that their products are of very good value in every price segment they have products. I can recommend Spectors without any doubt in any level really. Assuming you are a 4 string player, a Euro 4 would be a really good backup for the SR, but not just like that. The PJ pickup config has a great variety of sounds, it nails the P tone quite well, with the J added it sounds really growly and fat. These basses are built exceptionally well with well thought out ergonomics
All the above - nail on the head. I would also say that a Euro is much more than a back up - it is a monster in its own right- and may well become your go to bass. It certainly is for me over any of the other basses/brands I own or have owned.
Before I dive in further, the main ergonomic thing I have to address is how offset the neck position is. I have a Jazz and I have a real problem with how far to the left the neck sits, due to the offset. I made a big and expensive mistake with the Jazz - having played several but only sitting down (as is normal in a shop). Hanging round my neck it's all wrong. In comparison the Stingray feels like a significantly shorter scale length, even though it isn't. It's really hard to judge, looking at Spector due to the 2 octave neck and the small body, but where the first fret falls is a big issue for me (not being a tall person). I may not be able to stump for an LX4 (assuming I can't offload the Jazz - no luck so far), but a Rebop might be more in budget.
The ReBop has an element of neck dive, which being of a slightly shorter stature you may find to be a problem. I'd recommend trying a Euro as a priority (to check neck position) and then looking out for a used one on here if they take your fancy....

Who makes the best copies of their own Basses.
cetera replied to TheGreek's topic in General Discussion
Spector Euros are hardly 'entry models'. They are 90% the same as the US models but half the price or less (still pricey) and fantastic instruments in their own right. Stuart Spector & PJ also take a real hands on/personal approach with their Euro offerings. Their Korean models could be considered more 'entry models' but again are extremely well made and excellent value for money....! -

I've decided to move on this fantastic piece of kit as I seldom use it. Not due to any problem with it, rather I am not using rack/modular preamp/amp gear at present... This is the rare and very desirable Peavey DPC1400X class D 1u rack power amp. Built like a tank and ultra reliable, this beast delivers crystal clear highs and a thumping low-end response. It puts out up to 1400W bridged into 4 ohms/1000W into 8 ohms, or in stereo mode each of the two channels can independently power 700W into 2 ohms, 525W into 4 ohms, or 325W into 8 ohms. As you can see, it has huge headroom on tap and can power single or multiple cab set ups with ease. Put a preamp of choice in front of it..... or 2 separate preamps into it (one into each channel) and split for e.g. distorted high end in one cab and clean lows in the other cab.... The choices are endless and yours to make... Owners of the amps tend to hold onto them, especially in the PA trade. Indeed the only one that seems to have come come up for sale here in recent times went for £525 on ebay.(http://www.ebay.co.u...0MAAOSw44BYd90n ) Original list price on this was $1400 (approx a grand of the queens money back then). I'm offering mine at the bargain price of just £330 including the rack it's pictured in! Bank transfer or cash on collection from the Guildford, Surrey area..... or I may be willing to deliver within 50 or so miles radius for petrol money. NO trades please. Please see my extensive positive feedback for assurance of a clean and honest transaction. Cheers!
I love mine so much you'd have to give me double this to even consider parting with it. If I had the cash (and wasn't aware of a certain BC'er desperately after one ) I would snap this up without a doubt. GLWTS.
Cheers for the props! Maybe you could point said BC'er in this direction? Or, PM me with info and I can chat to them...

*WITHDRAWN* Can't face parting with it! Well known for its incredible tone and volume in such a lightweight and portable package (it has handles AND casters - despite being a one arm lift!), this cab is in excellent condition. I've only gigged this lightly in theatre settings and it's never been gigged in anger. Being full range it covers every style with ease, from deep rich traditional tones to hi-fi funk or growling rock. Comes complete with a ROQSOLID cover. Spec: Power Handling RMS - 600 W Frequency ±/ 10db 0- 42-18K Hz Sensitivity 1W/1M - 101 db Nominal Impedence - 4 ohm Crossover Point - 4 K Hz Weight Lbs. - 47 Dimensions HxWxD - 31" x 21 1/4" x 16 1/2" Collection preferred from Guildford, Surrey area but may deliver within 50 or so miles for petrol costs. Payment by cash or bank transfer please. NO trades. Please see my extensive positive feedback for assurance of a clean and honest transaction. Cheers!

Time to clear out some wonderful gear to make room for some equally wonderful incoming gear! With that in mind, here is an absolute MONSTER of an amp..... the US made, indestructible & bomb proof Carvin B1500 head. This Amp is not that well known in the UK due to poor distribution of the Carvin brand - unbelievable once you hear, see and feel this amp in action! It's fantastically easy to get a great sound - just plug in your bass, set the eq flat and hear the full and clear tones ring out. You need more headroom? You will never need more than this provides..... 700w into 8ohms, 1250w into 4ohms and 1900w into 2 ohms! Whatever cab or combination of cabs you care to use - this amp can cover it with plenty to spare. Being a monoblock there's no need for bridging of 2 power amps etc either. This thing can destroy and outlive pretenders such as the Hartke LH1000 at 20 paces The drive control does a reasonable imitation of a 'valve' sound at any volume.... but the amp is more than capable of being used at lower volumes too - providing a true and honest sound. The manual is available at carvinaudio.com should you have any further questions. The photos show the amp mounted in a flight case but this is not included in the sale. Pricewise I’m after just *£SOLD subject to payment* (cash on collection or bank transfer) and would obviously prefer pickup from the Guildford area but will consider delivering within a 50 mile radius for petrol costs. Please see my extensive positive feedback for assurance of a clean and honest transaction. Cheers!
Now a GK800rb into an SVT 810 to me is a great combination, one of my favourite rigs I've played through, all our tastes are different so doubtless people will disagree
THIS...... a great combination!
