Given that from the description the audience will be mostly getting their sound from whatever amp you’re using, and FOH just an added presence I’d go with the GK & Orchid DI option as the GK is your favoured amp. But I’d take along the RM just in case the sound engineer wants a quiet stage with FOH handling the audience sound & volume, that way you’ll get your sound to FOH (as the RM only does post-eq).

I had mine done in Boots and it was a chap who must have at least been in his 30s, possibly 40s, very qualified as he explained the procedure very well, what it entailed, what to expect etc. I think they have dedicated qualified staff on this, as with the opticians part of the business, rather than putting general shop staff on it.

That’s a good point, although I tend to scoop mids I generally buy instruments that have them in abundance, I’ve found I can get the sound I want by reducing what’s there but can’t by increasing what isn’t, if that makes sense.

I’ve got the Pro 17s, they claim to have the flattest response of their range. I can’t compare against the rest of their range but the 17s are great, reduce my incredibly loud rock band down to a very pleasant volume, and one at which I can hear all instruments very clearly.

Yeah looking at it I think if I were using it say in a song with a straight eighths bassline I’d play an octave higher than usual then bring in all of the controls to suit, octave lower, fifth and octave higher. Not exactly a rhythm guitar, just added presence filling a bit of the space.

I just took a look at some demos of the Quint, very interesting pedal indeed, ideal for bass covering rhythm guitar .

I’ve watched a couple of his vids, they give a good insight to the role he performs.

I used to love those V-5 heads, the local rehearsal studio had them and they sounded great.
