  1. Complete Control was one of my faves when doing punk covers too, Dave.
  2. Go and watch The UK Subs @greavesbass, Charlie is now 78, Alvin must be in his 60s yet they’re still as good as ever.
  3. Nice to hear of a good ending re amp issues
  4. Given last nights ELO Experience gig I’m listening to Jeff Lynnes ELO Wembley or Bust live gig on CD which is just great.
  5. Just got home from watching The ELO Experience in Aylesbury, featuring our very own @casapete Was a thoroughly good evening, the sound was excellent as was the performance by every member of the band. Great songs that have really stood the rest of time.
  6. Not at all, for a while I had the BF 410 & 210 as a modular stack in a punk trio.
  7. Used my RM500 this evening at our gig, into the venues Orange OBC410. Great sound and did make things a lot easier than the night before when I used my ABM600. Given me a bit of a quandary really, I love the ABM but for the stages I’m playing at the moment the RM is plenty for what I need. I suppose the answer is tools for the job, use whichever is best suited.
  8. Just got in from a gig in The Underworld, Camden, as main support to The Guana Batz. Great on stage sound made the gig really enjoyable, and the applause & reaction from the pretty much packed out crowd was great. I used my Ashdown RM500 this eve as space in the car was limited, this put through the venues Orange OBC410, gave a great sound. Overall a very enjoyable gig.
  9. I think that’ll be it, bands that pull the crowd irrespective of how good/bad will be ones floating to the top in this.
  10. I reckon faulty unit rather than design fault but I’m a bit dubious/wary re gear once I’ve had something fail on me, generally steer clear of those specific items from then on so it’s refund time.
  11. Well it’s going back. Used it again last night and it’s picking up interference - checked it using the same PSU on my two other preamps, both ok, used a different PSU on all three pedals, ok on the others, same issue on the Doom.
  12. So a new pedal day, an Ashdown Geezer Butler Pedal of Doom. Now I’m not a particular fan of Geezer or Black Sabbath but am a big fan of Ashdown and this pedal looked on paper to do what I want - that is one good clean Ashdown tone, with the ability to add in a touch of drive/gain. And it does! At nearly £300 it’s not cheap, but it does have two separate channels each with their own independent eq (apart from shared treble) plus the Doom which can be applied on each so essentially four different sounds available. But the main reason for getting this was having a preamp/DI that could give me that lovely Ashdown tone for gigs where the rig is provided, as I’ve found recently that although I’ve used Tech21 gear for years my ears have gone off it, preferring more traditional amp sounds. I’m yet to use it in a band setting, I do have gigs on Thu & Fri but I’m using my ABM600 for those so I won’t have a chance to use it with a band before the return period is up so I’m gonna have to make sure I’m totally satisfied with it, but first impressions are good.
  13. I’ve had the 112, 115, 210 and 410 of the RM range, and although the cabs have cloth front (not my preference) they weren’t flimsy at all, pretty decent really. I took both the 112 and 115 in trades so never used those in a band setting but both sounded fine in home practice.
  14. I started on bass and then some 6 months later got a guitar so I kind of learned both at the same time. I’m still not very good at lead but am - when practicing for a while - a pretty decent rhythm guitarist.
  15. Definitely, I used my ABM600 with many different cabs over the years of gigging on shared line-up/shared backline gigs. Admittedly audience always got front of house but irrespective of what cab I was using the ABM600 was always powerful enough for on-stage sound, and we played some pretty big venues/stages.
  16. I think you’ve hit the nail on the head with Ashdown, the ABM600 will do exactly what you’re after. Also pairs well with Barefaced cabs.
  17. In my classic rock band a guy tried out for us using one of these. He sounded like Nemo, Captain of the Underwater Show. Use whatever effects you choose sparingly.
  18. Nice bass, congrats. The 2013-16 range are my faves, agree re the necks, they’re chunkers which suit me nicely. I’ve Dunlop flats - strung through - on one of mine, they suit the bass nicely imo.
  19. Six String Traitor! But seriously, nice guitar and if your current calling is the skinny strings then best to follow it, I’ve done it a couple of times, always come back to bass but it was fun doing the guitar thing.
  20. I’ve had a few of these over the years, all bought used, never any problems with them. And when I was reading up on them before getting my first I don’t recall anyone saying they had any issues.
  21. That is beautiful @Clarky IMO the coolest colour scheme for a Jazz bass
  22. Saw a mate use one of these (exact same colour scheme) last night, sat great in the mix. GLWTS
