  1. Bought tickets last night for a double headliner at Wembley on 04 Feb, Black Stone Cherry and The Darkness
  2. I`ve a couple of routines, as below, but when starting up just to warm up have a few exercises I run through. First routine is if just keeping my hand in so to speak then I just play along to fave songs on Youtube. Second is if for a gig, as we don`t rehearse that much I`ll get the set list and play through it a few times on the week of the gig. Practice set-up is whichever bass into an Ampeg SCRDI into an Mini Ashdown Stack, which only has one 1x10 cab connected. I don`t practice at anything above normal watching TV volumes, but I`ve put some foam underneath the cab to hopefully isolate it a tad from the floor.
  3. Great rig, the DBS range was very under-rated and under-appreciated imo
  4. Another isolated track where the actual bass sound is much more scratchy & gainy than would be expected. Seems all these pros that we love & revere knew a bit about less than clean bass sounds.
  5. Whichever makes you smile the most once plugged In & playing. If that happens with both equally then I’d go for the RH750 due to its versatility.
  6. At the London Bass Guitar Show a few years back I tried out a bass and, trusty pick in hand, played Warhead by The UK Subs. I was amazed to have a good few people watching me, couldn’t work out if they appreciated someone who wasn’t slapping or were horrified at such ruffian behaviour though.
  7. Bet they deliver a clean sound…..
  8. All good thanks Karl, hope same your end. Another pedal that might be worth looking at is the TC Spark Booster (full size one, not Mini).
  9. Sansamp for me - most of my gigs are shared rigs so I get my eq from it at those anyway, when I do use my own rig the Sansamp is in line as a just in case.
  10. I reckon that would work pretty well Karl.
  11. Yep both MK11 and The Craufurd are good venues - a lot of money been put into The Craufurd over the last few years, and I`ve seen a few fairly well known bands there but you`re right, both should be getting more than they currently do.
  12. Def, the EVO IV has a much sharper, more precise sound, but retains the solidity & heft to the sound.
  13. Although I prefer to have an amp/speakers behind me pumping out the volume - I just love the feel of a big rig pushing it out - if I could guarantee monitoring & sound checks would be up to it I’d happily gig amp-less. I have done a few times when the provided rig has craped out during the day and it didn’t affect me at all, just got on with it. I’d want the monitors more for the rest of the band than myself anyway.
  14. This is like when Man Utd changed strips at half-time
  15. If they played smaller venues I’d love to see them but nearest to me - Wembley Arena - is really not my fave.
  16. I found this a bit with my old BB1100s, was a great bass, versatile and reliable but felt a bit sterile on the sound.
  17. I used to use these, I had a very twangy/driven new string sound and would get around 2 months use (8 rehearsals & 8 gigs) from a set.
  18. I have Elixir steel rounds on my Precisions & Jazz, currently have Ernie Ball Coated rounds on my Stingray (but they died really quickly so will be getting Elixirs too). Flats-wise I’ve Dunlops on a Precision.
  19. The Keeley Bass Compressor is a nice easy to use pedal.
