  1. Yes the Paradriver is very versatile due to the sweepable mids, I used one as my sound for about 4 years in my last band where I needed a toppy/driven sound and it excelled at this, boosting the upper-mid range really pushed the gain/drive across when digging in. For more "traditional" bass tones I do prefer the BDDV v2, after all it is a bass-specific pedal whereas the Paradriver is more multi-instrument.
  2. I’ve not used mine with the Shape on on my ABM600, will give it a try.
  3. Nice to see you back, great choice re amp too!
  4. Melkweg is a great venue, I really enjoyed playing there (and a Spinal Tap moment, I got lost in all the corridors backstage)
  5. They were at a fairly high price before the current political tomfoolery, recall seeing a similar thread about it a couple of months ago.
  6. Impossible to have a thread like this without mentioning Ashdown.
  7. Definitely, I met Bruce Foxton of The Jam when we were on the same show and I was incredibly nervous but he was a really nice guy.
  8. A clip from The Spacewasters most recent gig, Sat 08 Oct, at The Escape Bar, Shepherds Bush. The song is actually called Red Hot.
  9. I’m surprised there isn’t a queue to the end of the road, these get such great write ups
  10. They’re very good basses, easy to change parts on to suit, but no actual need to.
  11. This is a great thread, must have been an awesome situation to have been in.
  12. Agree Paul, I had similar once and our very own @gary macsorted it for me.
  13. I just wish that more of the string brands, and for both flats and rounds, would do 50 - 105s. Given the pickup placement on a Precision having a heavier D & G really helps balance this out imo.
  14. That’s one of my fave sounding rigs @Jonse, paired with a Precision just superb
  15. They’re amazingly powerful and sound great, heavy little beasties though.
  16. Going to see my old band The Tuesday Club (which features our very own @TransistorBassMan) tomorrow night in The Horn, St Albans.
  17. And if necessary point at the person in the shop, people who don’t speak English always understand much better when you do that…….
  18. Not done that one but it looks really good
  19. Where you playing in Hamburg, there`s some great venues there.
  20. I left my last band due to the intensive workload, which only showed signs of increasing (and looking at their current schedule, even past COVID it has). I loved being in that band, the guys were great, and I achieved more in that band than in any other band throughout my playing history. It was difficult but I had to take the right decision for me, I was permanently exhausted, the only time I felt physically & mentally ok was when on stage, it was affecting my work - mainly through moods of being shattered - so I had to leave. Hurtling up & down the length & breadth of the country every weekend, and hopping onto planes/ferries, staying away from home in hotels sounds great - and it is - but as I got older I just couldn`t do it any longer. Sadly that band happened 10 years too late for me, if I were nearing 47 rather than 57 I`d still be in it. I`ve still not gone to see them at a gig either, it would be like watching your ex, who was the love of your life, be with someone else, am not ready for that yet.
  21. Kathy Valentine, great bassist, really nice inventive lines
  22. Very interesting about the Ashdowns and the top-end roll-off, as I find I do boost the highs a lot on mine.
