I must admit I`m liking my Jazz on the front pickup, bit of drive, sounds great.

For some irrational reason I hate it when singers shout “show me those hands”. I just wish everyone would open their palms and hold their arms down by their sides. Well it would still be showing the hands if looking at it logically.

I think aside from one song I play in one band I could easily use a 3 string bass and forget about the G.

Just hadn`t got round to it yet, similar type of instrument mentioned, subs paid up in full

I bought a fiver last year, didn`t find the switch to be as difficult as I expected but I did find that I was hardly using the low B so moved it on. I`d def get another if the music I played required it. I did find that when I went back to the 4s I found them both more enjoyable and to feel like a childs toy after the size of the neck on the 5.

Doesn't the fact loads of young kids on YT are nailing it...

Yeah I have to admit that over the last couple of years I have learned to play some material that I would have previously thought was beyond me (Led Zep, Rainbow, Deep Purple type stuff). -

For me the talent is more telling of the person who created the lines/music in the first place. Though I don’t for one second deny the ability of these kids who can play these complex basslines, I just wish I could! -
If anything, given her sense of duty and to carry on regardless, I think she would have preferred events to go ahead as planned.

Yeah was a kind of shakeup that affected the whole world, maybe I put everything a bit off kilter. Thinking on the content of this thread I did play both earlier and although I found the Jazz easier to play I enjoyed playing the Precision more, which to me is quite telling.

I’ve used both the Boss TU2 and the TC Polytune, stuck with the TC due to it being both smaller and with what to me is a better display. But for most of my gigs I just use the TC Unitune Clip, I don’t need the Poly function so the Uni version is fine, no issues with it at all.

Car & back for me. It’s not that much of a reduction in weight compared to my Hiscox hard case but does make things that little bit easier.

Unless you’ve a lot of time on stage then the singer knowing what they’re going to say between songs & how long that takes (and between which songs so the rest of the band knows) is part of the rehearsal process. Otherwise you can easily run out of time.

Just interested, my fave guitarist Mick Mars (of Motley Crue) switched allegiance from Gibson Les Pauls to Fender Strats some years back, citing weight/easier to play as reasons. Now I`m obviously aware that this is a bass forum so the real point of this post is last night I picked up my Jazz for the first time in a while and I was amazed at how much easier I found it to play than my Precisions. Additionally I always seem to scoop a lot of the mids out of my Precisions tone, ending up with a sound nearer to the core tone of the Jazz, so I`m just wondering if it seems that the Jazz is calling out to me. Just wondered if anyone else had experienced similar, where although they had a favoured type of bass they found that for whatever reasons another type ended up being more suitable?

See what you mean re the Rio vibes @Eldon Tyrell, that`s a pretty nice touch, discreet enough to not be off-putting for a non-DD/JT fan who just likes the bass itself.

Given how prolific he was with his Aria in the 80s I’m surprised he didn’t have a sig one of those. That Dingwall looks nice tho.

Next bands on the list are Kodama, Burdensome & Pest at The Cellar in Hemel Hempstead this Thu. A mate is in one of them but I don’t know which, I’ll find out on Thu I suppose.

My fave is the Mono M80, though their Vertigo is also very good. As are Protection Racket & Fusion. But my first call is always the M80, not cheap but worth it for an expensive instrument.

Same with the punk & Oi audiences, reputation based upon looks not behaviour, much less bother than regular pub crowds.

The Jam, with: Eton Rifles Down in The Tube Station Town Called Malice Many others but I think these three are probably more well known -
Sounds great Col, if my retirement is half as exciting & rewarding I’ll be well chuffed

I bought one of those green Epi Les Pauls from Coda in ‘97 @mcnach, was a great guitar but pickups fed back rotten at gig volumes, had to swap them out.

Am not playing but went to see The Drifters last night. They started off with an announcement that the venue had received approval for the event to go ahead. Given it started at 7:30, an hour after the announcement of the passing of The Queen I`m not certain if it would have been the right thing to cancel, but do wonder how many will be cancelling/rescheduling. for both this and next weekend.

I’ve bought a good few “firsts” in Coda, US Fender Precision, Gibson Les Paul, Marshall (guitar) valve amp, all at what were good prices. I used to go there quite regularly just for a browse and a chat with the guys there.
