  1. I’d been playing since 1980 but only had cheap gear. I’d been kidding myself that I was in a band with my mates but in reality I wasn’t. At the start of 1987 something - not sure what - clicked and I thought I’ve got to take this more seriously, get myself a good bass, do this properly. And within about a month I was in my first real band. Maybe it was the realisation that I was never going to do anything with my mates and that if I really wanted to do music I had to reach further afield but I just took the next step.
  2. For me the early 90s were poor until Britpop came along. I just curse my own stupidity for making a pint glass my priority instead of going to see those exciting bands of the time.
  3. I’d be delighted to hear of this happening.
  4. Thing for me is they have a face value. This to me is like my local garage charging a fiver for the last 5 copies of The Sun/Mirror due to “demand ”. Shouldn’t be permitted, the band set the prices, that’s what they should go for. This a question as I don’t know, re this hideous mark-up, do Oasis or Ticketmaster get it?
  5. Well done to them if they can do something to prevent this.
  6. Agree over the last couple of years I’ve been to a few big gigs, and also to Black Stone Cherry at The Islington Assembly Hall, this def the best gig by far.
  7. Stephen bought a lead from me, swift payment and good comms throughout, including advising me of receipt, something I always appreciate, a good transaction all round.
  8. Yeah I remember queuing up at HMV for my Sex Pistols ticket in ‘96. When I bought it I was like a dog with two of the proverbials.
  9. Chrome, I found that when I “stealthed” a bass that on stage the machineheads couldn’t be seen and it put me off as it didn’t look right.
  10. Henry & the boys do travel light. Played with them a few times, great chaps but aside from guitars & plectrums they don’t bring anything, in my current they played with them and were even asked for drumsticks!
  11. Sold One set of Schaller strap locks, in original packaging. £15 including postage in UK.
  12. There’s no doubt that he’s a rather complex character, to say the least.
  13. Which album was that @RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE, I’ve a few of the Volbeat albums and their lead guitarist (at the time) Rob Caggiano, formerly of Anthrax is a very good lead player. Might be worth a revisit, I’d recommend Seal The Deal & Let’s Boogie, great album.
  14. I thought at first it must be a new form of music where all of the terms were being used.
  15. Some songs imo are made by the solos, whereas again imo some solos do nothing for the song at all. As with anything all down to the listener, what one likes no doubt another will dislike, but it is in general a followed formula.
  16. I think my fave song by Oasis is Don`t Look Back in Anger, but my fave performance of theirs is their (live) cover of Come on Feel The Noise, the performance of this from their Maine Road gig is excellent.
  17. Yeah, and for me I`d only consider going if it were Oasis reforming, this is just the two brothers agreeing to work together again (although from what I`ve read it seems that Bonehead, who is still friends with them both maybe involved).
  18. No correction required (sounds a bit like a Phil Collins album?) imo the 2013 American Standards are the best range Fender have made
  19. Yeah I think if I were looking at Duff McKagan to James Jamerson as the OP is I’d do the same, get the Duff sound on the amp with tone control fully on on the bass & play with a pick, back off to about 2/3 on the tone control & play fingerstyle for the Jamerson sound.
  20. The punk/Oi scene still gets well attended gigs but both the bands and the audience tend to be mainly the over 50s. Probably due to that being the music of their youth I suppose.
  21. Agreed, there doesn`t seem to be any "big star look-at-me" stuff going on with him.
  22. Vintage Tony Butler Precision, I had one as backup to my Fender US Standard and it was far closer to it than the price tags would suggest, both in playability and sound. Oh, and it’s black/black/maple, that coolest Precision colour scheme.
