  1. Pretty much the first thing I did when I met my new neighbours was to mention that I was a musician and that if my practicing ever got on their nerves to just knock on the door and ask me to stop, and that it wouldn`t offend me at all as I was aware that people might be ill/working shifts/have visitors over etc. Reverse psychology practiced very well indeed methinks as 18 years on and it`s yet to happen 😄
  2. Reminds me of the old saying, hope you don’t mind but we’re having a loud party at the weekend. Which actually means we’re having a loud party at the weekend. But it gives the illusion of manners which in a lot of cases satisfies people.
  3. Sounds very similar in use to the Ashdown Shape control.
  4. That’s a great guitar, and would have been a good price if it were in standard condition, so with the mods/improvements made it’s a very good price. I find the Specials to be easier to play too.
  5. Definitely, given the love for the Status graphite necks surely some musical company out there will spot this newly established gap and opportunity.
  6. They’re unlikely to have change so I’d go for £200
  7. Sometimes simplicity is the key. I far prefer my sound with just bass & my ABM600, sadly most gigs I do are provided gear and whilst I could take my amp it’s easier with the Sansamp. Especially for a 30min gig.
  8. I had that at rehearsal on Thursday with my ACS plugs, whenever I smiled (ok not that regular an occurrence) the “seal” was broken and more noise got through. Note to self, remain miserable and protect your hearing.
  9. Yep, the Mexican made ones are perfectly decent instruments but I do find the US ones to be better. Do I think the difference between them is fairly reflected by the pricing, probably not, but I def think they’re better. But at my last gig I used my Mex Precision and at no point did I think it was a poor substitute.
  10. I used my Stingray at rehearsal on Thu, and as much as I love playing it at home in a band setting I just missed the Precision. There’s just something reassuring about how the Precision sits in the mix for me, and I suppose because I’ve been playing them for years my playing dynamics are just so well suited to them.
  11. Tried my ‘Ray with the band at rehearsal on Thu. Sounded good, a fair bit tighter sounding than my Precision, but I just couldn’t relax into it, I’m so ingrained into hearing a Precision sound when I play that it just didn’t seem like me that was playing. I’m def keeping it as I love playing it at home but for band use it will stay as my trusty Precisions.
  12. I wish I could get there Pete, but it just eludes me no matter how I set them (aside from off that is)…..
  13. Is one really needed? I ask as I’ve found that at home practice volumes I like compression but with the band I really dislike it. I’ve tried to get on with it but just can’t.
  14. Yes, and as I practice sitting down at home I was a bit concerned it would be awkward but wasn’t a problem at all.
  15. I tried mine with my old Stingray at home and it was fine, no overpowering or anything.
  16. Well from what I’ve read it would seem not, but those that wrote might have been my technical & mechanical equivalent (as in totally useless) so it may be worth a try.
  17. I used a BH250 yesterday, connected to a TC 1x15 cab. Admittedly it was only for stage volume but it was plenty loud enough, I could easily have swamped the onstage sound and rendered the drums virtually inaudible.
  18. Yes South Parade Pier. Apparently they had to go to legal proceedings to get it on as there were objections based upon noise but halfway didn’t the pier it couldn’t be heard as the bands were playing right at the end.
  19. I prefer connecting to a practice amp, and playing along to music either on YouTube or saved files.
  20. Yep different cable, if problem persists someone opens the cab up to check wiring/connections.
  21. Just got in from a gig on Portsmouth Pier (pic of backstage below). Went well tho the drummer suffered for his art as he managed to cut his hand on the second to last song so blood over him and provided kit - oops. Lot of good comments on my first “over the sea” gig.
  22. I really like the combination of my Precision/Jazz/Stingray with my Ampeg SCR-DI into my Ashdown practice amp, they just all seem to work together really well. No compression but the Drive is both separate and blendable so does the tube-warmth feel quite nice. It’s a pedal that just seems to work with whatever bass I put through it. There’s one on here as well, at a very decent price.
  23. From what I’ve read the LH has quite a thick warm (but clear) sound so I’ll recommend the Ashdown RM. Of all of the Class D amps I’ve had these have the weightiest sound to them. I like the Markbass amps as well but prefer the eq options on the Ashdown, plus being UK based in the unlikely situation you have a problem you can send/take it there and they can sort it.
  24. Same for me, I bought one in 2018 and it performed very well, finally gave up the ghost at end of 2019 - apparently they’re similar to the Xvive, once the battery has had enough that’s it. But cost wise it worked out about £2 per week and given how much easier it made gigging that was a bargain imo. So much so I’ve just bought another one. As I don’t rehearse & gig so much now I’m hoping for 2 maybe 3 years from it.
