I finally got round to putting these on my Stingray and to me they are a much better balance across the set.

In Hemel Hempstead all of the venues seem to be for covers bands, so I suppose the younger bands look to gig in the other nearby towns.

No matter how much I practice I know I can always be better. Just learned a song this morning for a gig next weekend, a relatively easy song but I still had to sit down and go through it a good few times. Does this make me despondent, no, it makes me feel great that I can work out a song in 30mins or so that I’ve never heard before, and also makes me look forward to the gig more.

Gold Mk3 Capri Duh-duh-duh! (For those of a certain age)

For years I had my action higher than Fender standard settings as I was rather heavy handed, which was what I needed at the time, however I`ve found that having the action a fair bit lower than Fender standard makes me play with a more measured approach, so horses for courses, have the action that suits your current style of playing.

Great set list, must be a bunch of fun playing those -
Nice bass @Supernaut, classic colour scheme for a Jazz

Yup, only time I ever needed my backup bass was quite typically the time I couldn`t be bothered to take it to the gig. And made worse by the fact that I`d agreed to lend my bass to the support band who were flying over from Germany. Luckily the headlining bassist was a decent chap and took great pity. And I`d checked the bass was working before I set off. Turned out to be an intermittently dodgy jack-plug.

Interesting remarks about the Boy George/Mick Jagger stuff that insurance companies come out with. I wonder if when people put down that they work for Amazon the insurance companies would refuse them in case they might be giving Jeff Bezos a lift in to the office.

SCR-DI is a great pedal, I use one at home as it’s the only pedal that can do everything I need for home practice.

Yes, the 10" range are warmer/softer sounding, whereas the 12" range are much cleaner/flatter sounding.

Getting a Good Tone with my Sansamp BDDI
Lozz196 replied to Bassmaster General's topic in Bass Guitars
Cheers Col, will give it a go: @Bassmaster Generalthere are 2 pretty easy ways to use the BDDI, our producer advised of the first being his preferred option (dependent on circumstance of course). From your description of the sound you`re after, and you have a Precision I think it`s similar to what I go for. As has been said, new stainless steel roundwound strings for starters. It also depends on if your BDDI is V1 without mids or V2 with. 1 - Set your amp up to get your sound, set all controls on the BDDI at Midday aside from Blend which should be on Full, then engage it. If anything is then too much (bass is too boomy etc) then cut it on your amp, not the BDDI. This way works very well for recording or where the rig is a standalone rig providing the whole bass for the room. 2 - Set your amp as flat as possible. From there put everything at Midday, aside from Drive (at about 9 o`clock). If you need more highs then adjusting the Treble is my preference as the Presence can be very sharp anywhere past 1 o`clock. If you have the V2 with mids then I select 500Hz and back of of this a bit as the V2 is better "balanced" than V1 which has a baked in mid-scoop already. Also with V2 if the sound is too bassy/boomy select the 80Hz setting and back off of this a tad. Once you`re near what you`re after then try adjusting the Blend a bit more, to see if this then pushes you nearer to what you`re after. Adding more Drive also adds highs but additionally adds "bulk" to the sound as well. This route can be better for sending a signal from the BDDI to house PA as you can make stage adjustments on the amp without affecting what the PA gets. -
Fender Vintera 50's p bass or Squire 40th anniversary p bass?
Lozz196 replied to YuryReon's topic in Bass Guitars
Sacrilege, at no point in your life do you ever not need another bass! -
They certainly look great, think I’m going to have to try these

Great price, I think mine was about that over a year back from PMT, with the way everything seems to be going up that’s bargain city!

I’d look at the Markbass CMD121P, great little amp, much more powerful than it looks but in a very small portable package.

100W Stoneham valve amp - small footprint, lighter weight

I’ll bet that’s one great sounding rig there @Merton -
Sold The M76 is the same compressor as the famed M87, just in a black box, all the same controls etc. Great reviews on ovnilab, where the above is confirmed - MXR bringing out the 76 as although guitarists loved the 87 apparently the word Bass was putting them off. Understandable, not always the sharpest tools in the box are they? http://www.ovnilab.com/reviews/mxrbass.shtml Price includes fully insured postage within the UK

If you’re not confident with soldering contact our very own @KiOgon, he makes replacement looms which only need a small screwdriver to connect up. Very good quality and very easy to install.

I remember going to see The Last Resort at The 100 Club (might have even been on the bill that night) and JJ the bassist in between songs alerted security that a bloke was unconscious at the front, think he’d hit his head on the monitor/edge of the stage in the heat of the moment as he went over (or someone had clocked him a bit too hard). Security dragged him out, luckily he was ok but yes, def bands do have a responsibility to try to calm things down, which isn’t an easy feat on the punk/Oi scene. I thought a crowd we played to in Hamburg were going to seriously injure each other at least as there was a bit of niggle going on. We did our bit, asked them to try to not kill each other.

I just find that I prefer the sound of multiple speaker cones all going at once, as opposed to one. Not for the volume but for the sound/feel.

Yes the RM amps are good to have as backups to the ABM 600, tho agree they do lack the overall flexibility- not a criticism, 5 band re 9 band just won’t offer as much. But they’re good amps, I have the 500 EVO2 and wouldn’t be without it.

Good idea that
