  1. How, at this price is this still here? Don’t we have any flush Jazzers at the moment?
  2. I’m just trying to discourage myself Vince, hopefully someone will get along soon to buy it and put my internal conflict to rest soon.
  3. Awesome, these are great basses (I have one and another on the way) good luck with the sale.
  4. Tony Butler was a very under-recognised part of Big Country’s sound.
  5. Yes, the v2 version though so not quite as harsh or scooped. It just removed the fullness from the sound, although made each individual note stand out more. I’d reckon some toppy flats like Rotosounds or Chromes would work, which is in fact what I’m going to do at next rehearsal.
  6. In my classic rock band we have bass, drums, guitar & keys. The keys player only plays what is on the recording on those songs which had keys, and then just adds in what is needed more as a rhythm instrument on those which didn’t. At the last rehearsal I tried my Sansamp and it wasn’t a success, the sound of the band was much better with just my steel rounds strung Precision into the studios Ampeg stack, lows dropped a bit for the room, highs boosted for a bit of clarity. I suppose it makes for a more supporting sound, but with potentially two lead instruments I figure that’s what I should be doing (tho Zep, Purple & Rainbow basslines aren’t simple plodders but any means).
  7. I had a 5 string Precision that came with a Comfort Strapp and have to admit I was shocked when I weighed the bass as I was selling it to find it weighed 10lbs as it felt much less than on that strap.
  8. I’m not, I just wonder how anyones ears can take that much volume, I think mine would detach themselves and run for cover.
  9. Definitely, I had my OTB through a Marshall VBC 412 and anymore than 10 o`clock on both volume & gain and the rest of the band simply couldn`t be heard in our rehearsal room. Not a case of just the bass being too loud, they literally couldn`t be heard at all, frightening little things the OTBs.
  10. I honestly can`t believe that someone could have one of those OTBs at full pelt, having had one it was amazingly loud, I`d expect walls to melt and floors to liquify if running one at full volume. How anyone could use one at that kind of volume is just beyond me.
  11. Yeah, those OTB amps are so loud ears will blow long before the speaker
  12. Cool pic Rog, where was the gig?
  13. I flew with Ryanair once. When the plane landed the rest of the passengers clapped. In my naïveté I thought that was what was meant to happen.
  14. I’m surprised they didn’t charge extra for the cast
  15. Some years back one of our very own Basschatters made me a splitter box which enabled me to connect two 4ohm cabs up to an amp that was 4ohms, could be worth looking into. I get where you’re coming from though, and two of the SVT212s would be over 120lbs to carry, so no longer a lightweight set up. I’ve used one with my ABM600 and when it was stood on a flight case it was fine, but that was in a 3-piece so nothing else going on over my side of the stage/getting in the way.
  16. Yep, mine too, for me def the best Precisions I’ve had. Yes, nabbed a 2014 black/maple, just got to exercise some patience (something I find very difficult) and wait a couple of weeks til I’m on leave to drive down and pick it up.
  17. Flying = hard case imo. You have no control over where the instrument will be, unless you buy a seat for it. As such work on the premise that it will be in the hold, at the bottom, with everything else on top of it, and that every time it’s moved it’s moved without any care or attention. Gigbag no longer such a good option.
  18. Thanks Dave, I’m really pleased with it
  19. Following @FinnDaves new pair of sunburst beauties, I received this today, a Fender 2016 US Standard. Shock horror, it’s not black as you can see but the classic Precision imo in sunburst/tort/rosewood. Plays and sounds fantastic, largely thanks to the Custom Shop 62 pickups. Thanks to Mark at Classic & Cool Guitars for a nice & easy transaction.
  20. The Ampeg SVT212 is meant be very near in sound to the 810 & 610 so may be worth checking out. Edit - and there’s one up for grabs on here at present.

Sounds about right Dave, I do that on all of mine.
  22. 3 gigs a year more than warrants a new bass, looks great

    Two nice ones there Dave
  24. I think you’re in for a difficult task, trying to find better than those, Chris.
  25. So an update to this, as my number 1 is a black/black/maple US Standard Precision from the 2013-16 Series it`s suddenly dawned on me that maybe having the same bass for gigging might be a wise move. So one has been purchased, just got to drive all the way to near Torquay to collect it. Dang, I suffer for my art!
