  1. Yes, a good few years ago I was in Coda Music in Stevenage and I saw a Mex Fender precision in white/rosewood, there was something about that bass that I just had to have it. I`m currently trying to resist the temptation with a bass up for grabs on here, same colour scheme.

    Limelight

Never played one, but similarly never read a bad word about them. I do find that the majority of Limelight Precisions that come up for sale have Jazz necks, otherwise I`m sure I`d have bought one by now. I have in fact been considering getting a regular Precision from them in light-relic finish, as find that from the pics the wear looks very authentic.
  3. Let’s be honest, the bass and the bassist in general isn’t the focal point of most bands, with the pesky singists & guitards usually occupying those roles, so I think the hat thing is a “hey, I’m here too”. Much like when I used to wear shades on stage in a glam-sleaze type band, it was a pee-take of the 80s look but also a way of saying I am here, look at me!
  4. I won’t spoil it for anyone, just to say I thoroughly enjoyed this episode.
  5. Fender Custom Shop 62s don’t sound much different to those
  6. I love gigging, but have found that as I`m getting older the ideal for me is 1 a month, unlike my last band which was pretty much every weekend and was gigs all over the country and in Europe. Luckily in the band I`m currently in all of the others are in multiple bands so it`s very unlikely we will ever get an overstocked calendar.
  7. Thanks Martin, really appreciate it
  8. What screws did you use Martin, and where did you get them, as I think I’m going to do the same?
  9. If you mean the actual power block part it’s a fair bit smaller: 4.5” x (just less than) 2.5” x 1”
  10. Most of the companies that state they do a 70s sort of sound do this via a lesser wound pickup, thinking Fralin/Creamery here.
  11. Speakon to Speakon (just had a look at pics of them online).
  12. Definitely. When my last band played Munich there was something very special about hearing the audience singing along to all the songs, especially given that it was the only time we played there and English not being their first language. Quite humbling actually.
  13. I’m doing the same with my new Ampeg SCRDI. High gain low blend gives a smoother sound on the eq, a better sound for fitting in the mix, lower gain higher blend gives better separation to highs & lows enabling the bass to stand out a bit more, though in each case the amount of gain/drive sounds the same.
  14. Are you sure it’s 1000 watts, rather than 500? I ask as they did make an LH1000 so would seem strange they didn’t match power to name so to speak. Even so, providing you don’t push the amp you’ll be fine, your ears will give up way before that cab will.
  15. The mention of them being a Rebellion type band makes me even more eager to find out who it is.
  16. Don’t know his music but am a major 24 fan so am very envious. Dammit! (That’s his characters fave curse btw).
  17. Well it did take some energy drinks to give me some get up & go on the drive there but as it was only my 2nd gig with the band I was high on natural enthusiasm. The gig was arranged before I joined the band so was a case of having to do it, and although I wouldn’t want to make a habit of it it wasn’t as bad as I was expecting, I really thought I’d be near nodding off at that time.
  18. I like the markings, allows for very specific settings - and ones that can be noted/remembered easily as a result.
  19. If at all possible avoid 1am gigs, I’m pooped today following this mornings one.
