  1. I bought one of these last year to try and organise my spare - as in read junk - room. Worked a treat. Has sliding doors, comes from Instrument Furniture, it`s part of their CLEO range, they delivered and assembled, pain free all round, would def recommend both the company and the product.
  2. I’d reckon so, probably ideal for reggae
  3. QPs are pretty high powered, usually emphasis is on both top & bottom end so sound modern/scooped/bigger sounding than stock Fenders. If the bass is a good ‘un and priced well I’d go for it, see if you get on with them - if not get a set of the stock ones, you’ll easily move on the QPs.
  4. Paul bought some pickups from me, swift payment, good comms including letting me know when they arrived.
  5. Bought a pedal board power supply from Andy, great comms, swift delivery, great transaction.
  6. Good rig, and imo a good pairing with a Precision, work well together.
  7. My one of each would be Precision Jazz Stingray Thunderbird Rickenbacker Semi-acoustic (not knowledge enough to name one) As we can see I’m more for the ‘classics’ than modern.
  8. Should be fine, nice low action there
  9. Short sleeves for me, in previous band it was Fred Perrys, in current band a short sleeved Ben Sherman undone, over a tee shirt for the American blue collar look.
  10. Fender Precision with fresh Warwick Red Label steel rounds, into a Tech21 Para Driver, into an Ashdown ABM600, connected to an Ashdown ABM410. All eq was from the Para Driver, eq switched off on the ABM600, but the Valve Drive engaged and at noon. Two feeds, one taken from the DI on the Para Driver, one from a mic on the 410, then blended, was about 60/40 DI/Mic. Sounded like this:
  11. I’d probably have been a rhythm guitarist, I’m pretty good at that but not too hot on that lead malarkey.
  12. I had one, with the matching NY121 cab. The combo on its own was loud enough for live use with my band at the time which consisted of drums, 2 basses, 3 guitars, keyboards and 2 singers, doing punky/indie type music. Adding in the cab really filled the sound out but the combo on its own was easily enough.
  13. Yep, Ampeg pretty similar tho I find that Ashdown have more clarity when the top end is pushed, seem a bit smoother to me, with Ashdown maybe being more low-mid biased with Ampeg more towards middle-mids if that makes any sense.
  14. 20hz - crazy, would any regular market speakers handle that anyway?
  15. A bit like Bon Jovi then, halfway there
  16. Yep I always pick the sound for the band. The sounds I had for my previous two bands, although both achieved using a Precision, were a fair bit different. And the sound for my current band, again with a Precision is a tad different, though probably more in-keeping with the two bands ago sound than the last.
  17. Basic set up is fine, but fret work, nut work & electrics (other than installing a KiOgon loom) I leave to the professionals, which in my case is our very own @gary mac (sadly minus the curly perm & Capri).
  18. I’m sure two of those would be fine unless in a really loud band or really massive hall.
  19. I’m pretty much the same @Rayman, my tone preference now is more for a warm rounded in the mix tone (which isolated doesn’t sound like that at all btw) whereas in my previous band it was a lot more noticeable, Sansamp type drive & twang. I’ve just joined a band and I love the mix of their album, although the low end of the bass is clearly there it’s very difficult to determine what is actually played, sits perfectly in the mix.
  20. Quality service there, Daves a top bloke
  21. The strange thing I found about playing with a lighter touch was that I also found that my fretting hand didn’t grip so forcibly, which has also enabled me to be a bit more nimble around the neck.
  22. Same here, was quite an eye & ear opener
