  1. Pink
  2. And after a bit of thought and tinkering I’ve now gone back to my Dunlop Ultex 1mm Triangle picks. I just enjoy playing my bass with these more than any others, and primarily I play for enjoyment.
  3. Looks good to me, might well make the trip over for this
  4. Looks great Bruce
  5. That Stingray got a thrashing in that. Agree though, much better band than many gave credit for.
  6. Holy thread resurrection! I’ve got a set of D’Addario nickel strings that came on a bass, any ideas how I can tell which they are @D'AddarioUK as I really like them? Sound wise they really work on this Precision, seem to be a really well balanced overall tone, not too middy (which nickels on a Precision can sometimes be) and the low-end is tight without being at all boomy - probably tighter than the low-end on my Elixir steel rounds. Probably should mention that the E is tapered if any help.
  7. Great sounds WOT, like the bass of yesteryear when it was in the mix rather than a boom underneath it. Me like big time!
  8. Nothing wrong with doing songs from that era DD, some great songs back then and a lot of fun to play them.
  9. I’d suggest something with a valve in it if you’ve not got a valve amp, say a Dave Hall VT if you can source one. What a great sound though.
  10. Having been in a band with someone similar my way of dealing now is if I’m unfortunate enough to end up in a band with someone like this I will leave and fully explain my reasons why. If the rest of the band stay with them they’re welcome to them. If they decide my way is preferable and that they would like to reform with me then great. I won’t work with people like that anymore, wasted too long that one time, never again.
  11. Not sure if this is already done but: Rickenbacker - Introduce a "Made in Mexico" or Squier/Epiphone type range
  12. Ashdown - an ABM preamp/DI pedal, lose the sub-thingy. Elixir - start making 50-105 gauge steel rounds again.
  13. I use stainless steel Elixirs. They’re not as bright as uncoated steels (think week old steels sort of sound) but I get almost a year out of them.
  14. I’m pretty much the same, get a thinner, twangier on stage sound than I’d like and it usually translates to a sound which out front sits in with the band nicely.
  15. My old band The Tuesday Club
  16. I do know, too many for my needs, not enough for my wants
  17. I like the Ampeg Scrambler as it doesn’t really change your tone, just adds in drive.
  18. Complete Control was one of my faves when doing punk covers too, Dave.
  19. Go and watch The UK Subs @greavesbass, Charlie is now 78, Alvin must be in his 60s yet they’re still as good as ever.
  20. Nice to hear of a good ending re amp issues
  21. Given last nights ELO Experience gig I’m listening to Jeff Lynnes ELO Wembley or Bust live gig on CD which is just great.
  22. Just got home from watching The ELO Experience in Aylesbury, featuring our very own @casapete Was a thoroughly good evening, the sound was excellent as was the performance by every member of the band. Great songs that have really stood the rest of time.
  23. Nice sounds, really like the passive tones
  24. Not at all, for a while I had the BF 410 & 210 as a modular stack in a punk trio.
  25. Used my RM500 this evening at our gig, into the venues Orange OBC410. Great sound and did make things a lot easier than the night before when I used my ABM600. Given me a bit of a quandary really, I love the ABM but for the stages I’m playing at the moment the RM is plenty for what I need. I suppose the answer is tools for the job, use whichever is best suited.
