Yep, put him out of your misery

I bought a 78 Precision off of my then bands producer. We were recording at his studio so as I was buying it from him I decided I would use my new bass on the day I got it. Well the set up was quite poor to say the least, and the round wound strings on it sounded much like a set of 20 year old flats, no life in them at all. But it sounded great on those recordings, just how does that happen!

For what’s needed I’d be all over this:

I`d love a reverse P Precision, in the past I`ve used 50-105 strings but Elixir have stopped making them now.

Highway Star for me. I’m not familiar with much of their material but we do this in my classic rock band and I just love playing the bassline.

I have to do this on my Precisions, the D & G being noticeably twangier due to both thinness of string and pickup placement.

Definitely, great amps.

There is/was a Fender Precision 5-er on here with added MM pickup.

Yeah I’ve gigged on lead guitar before, ironically some 25 years ago doing punk covers with the singer/guitarist of this new band. But I’ve still got to learn many of the solos and some of the songs themselves hence me saying still gotta learn how to play.

Well an update to this, I’ve now got my gear sorted - tho not yet delivered - for this. Fender Telecaster Deluxe Squier Telecaster Deluxe BluGuitar Amp1 (3lbs) 2 x Marshall 1912 (1x12 @ 13kg) TC Spark Booster (for solos) The BluGuitar Amp1 really sounds like a Marshall so I’ve a nice portable modular set up to use that will give the sound I want. Still gotta learn to play tho….

He certainly is good, irrespective of whether people like The Beatles there’s no doubting Maccas abilities.

I’m of the firm belief that many musicians try to second guess their audience - if we do xxxx it might not go down well so we should stick with our 30 year old set list. No, no, no. Do it then establish if it goes down well or not. Might doesn’t come into it. Often I think that they use this as an excuse for not doing material others want and as such are exercising this as a way of control, or as an excuse for just being lazy and not wanting to learn new material.

I really like the Custom Shop 60s ones that come in my US Standard.

I’ll second (or maybe third fourth fifth) the comments on the CMD121P, amazing little amps.

My faves are the 2013-16 Fender US Standards.

I’ve had the Vertigo and the M80 and I find the M80 better for my needs. The straps can be folded away and I can still load the bass in whilst it’s standing up.

Early 80s pop - Wham, Duran, Spandau, Culture Club etc. As a teenage punk I hated all that whereas now I think it’s great.

Whilst in my last band we weren`t professional it didn`t stop us behaving professionally. I`m convinced a lot of the work that we got owed much to the fact that we were easy to work with and behaved in this manner. A certain type of irony given we were a punk band I suppose.

A girl at work bought something online, and had it delivered to her Mums house. Sunday 19:10 she gets an e-mail saying it was delivered, with a photo of it propped up against the bushes (which she thought was a bit strange as her parents were in). She rang her Mum so she could bring it inside. Said Mum went outside, it wasn`t there, so she rang her daughter to say so. The daughter said it was definitely there the photo clearly showed it. The Mum looked at the CCTV and indeed at 19:10 the driver placed it against the bushes and took the photo proving delivery. The CCTV also showed that at 19:15 the driver returned to the parcel, picked it up and walked off with it. Moral of story, don`t accept photos as proof that an item has been delivered, this is a scam we`re hearing more of.
