  1. Yeah, until I was in my last band the only similar aged (late 40s/early 50s) musicians I encountered were all about covers. Maybe it`s down to venues and their wants that leads this?
  2. You’ve had some good fortune there, the stock Aerodyne pickups were ok but Wizards are in a much different league.
  3. They sound really nice on the few clips that are available
  4. The most successful band I’ve been in was an originals band which I joined at 48 and left at 54, played 50+ gigs a year, festivals, toured overseas, albums released by record companies (tho not signed to them) etc. It’s never too late, tho at 56 I now acknowledge my limits a bit better - hence why I left the above, but I’m still in an originals band. So don’t give up hope, and even if taking a few years off if you have a bass you really connect with put it in its case under the bed/on top of the wardrobe, at some point you’ll most likely get the urge to play again.
  5. Same for me Mick, great single, the rest of their material largely passed me by.
  6. Afraid I used a box every time Ped, they’re not gonna get broken but a box offers some protection against cosmetic damage.
  7. Strangely I’ve found that using a thinner pick, around 0.88mm gets me a sound fairly near to finger style, anything more and the sharpness of the attack makes it evident it’s now a pick.
  8. Re new amp or go for the modelling stuff, well if you can guarantee you’ll always be going through the PA from now on then it might be worth a try. That said you’ve got that great BF cab, so in your position I’d sort either a new amp or get that one fixed, then have a preamp/DI pedal in the chain connected to FOH at all gigs. Pedal doesn’t need to be switched on unless needed, so a Behringer BDI21 would be ideal, cheap, sound great.
  9. I rather like Zephyr Song too
  10. Kermits bass maybe…..
  11. Agree, nowt wrong with supporting home grown businesses, but for me I’d be wanting something “extra” if the price was more than a comparable item manufactured elsewhere. Dr Martens spring to mind, their UK made boots are of a much better quality than the overseas made ones - with a price tag to reflect this of course.
  12. Sold Stops pesky A-String rattle on your beloved US Fender. Unused, still in original packaging. Getting one of these will cost you £25-ish, with a two week wait - so why not buy this one for £18 and get it within a couple of days.
  13. As above, has the truss-rod cut out needed for US Fenders. Price includes delivery in the UK.
  14. Sold 5 way foldable bass/guitar stand. In decent condition, is nice & compact measuring 60w 74h 41d. Price includes delivery in the UK.
  15. Sold One of the above, 10mm padding, pocket for leads etc, not been used. Price includes delivery in UK
  16. If I were nearer I’d love this opportunity, good luck with the search
  17. Is Charlie stopping gigging? Or is it just non-UK gigs they’re stopping?
  18. I’ve heard of Capris being up at £70K My first one was only £650
  19. I went to a local luthier for a bit of work on a bass and he had a ‘59 Les Paul in. I didn’t go anywhere near it in case of any accidents or clumsiness on my part.
  20. Or maybe The Popular Peoples’ Cradle of Judas….
  21. I reckon they’ll always be desirable/collectible, whether or not it will be quite as much as currently is another matter. I started playing in Dec 1980 so have always thought about a Precision made then, but given the prices doubtful I’ll ever do anything about it.
  22. Whilst we never managed 100 a year, 50 was enough when all over the country & Europe, I still shudder at my 2018 work-load too. Combining 50 long-distance gigs a year with a full-time job and being in my mid 50s was just too much, something had to break, and it was me!
  23. Handing out cctv footage is now covered by GDPR, not sure how long this has been the case though.
  24. Proper looking rig there Steve, bet it sounds great
