  1. Fender Precision 5s are quite wide, pretty sure it’s 19mm
  2. Sounds like a good week ahead, ably supported by Ashdown
  3. It might all have been the intensity of the performance.Seriously, this can happen. Many years ago I did a gig with a band I’d been in, got asked to stand in. After the gig a guy I knew asked what I was on as my performance was apparently quite good. Nothing, other than a few pints of lager, I was just chuffed to be doing a gig again and put my all into it. All that said tho, I reckon MK was like Tony Montana in Scarface, head in a pile of it.
  4. Yeah my main one did my last 3 albums, first (and some subsequent) Rebellion Festival, first (and some subsequent) overseas tour, plus some special gigs during this time including supporting 3 of my fave bands. I originally bought it with a view to it being just a tool for the job and not bothered if damaged/stolen but that just isn`t the case now.
  5. I had one for a while, nice sounding cabs, not as low-end heavy as the ABM cabs, and nice and easy to move around.
  6. I’ve a 3 EQ, and whilst to play it’s a dream, I just can’t get a sound from it that I’m happy with. This no doubt due to the fact that whenever I play I’m expecting to hear a Precision so anything else just doesn’t work with my feeble brain. But size wise, neck dimensions, everything on a Stingray is the perfect bass for me.
  7. Epiphone guitars are pretty decent, I bought my God-Daughter one of the SG Specials and it was a really nice guitar.
  8. Might be worth contacting Creamery Pickups, see if they can do anything with the originals. If not then I’m sure they’ll be able to put something together for you that is similar to them.
  9. I’m similar Ed, I have my fave black/black/maple 2015 US Standard Precision which has mucho sentimental value so it’s not gigged. As such I have a matching 2013 for gigging, 2014 for flats/in reserve and a Mex as backup/in case of gigs where we fly. Oh and of course I have a matching 2014 US Standard Jazz, well it would look odd without one.
  10. Now that is a great looking old school style rig
  11. Beautiful dark wood ‘board on that
  12. Definitely get the Stuart Adamson vibe, especially with the Yammy SG!
  13. Same here, if hard times hit and need to sell then unless bought new it’s pretty much getting your money back as well. May as well enjoy your investments - and playing a bass much more enjoyable than looking at an online bank account imo.
  14. Great looking trio there Ander
  15. Pretty much the same for me - reggae apart that is. After many years I’ve now realised the gear that I both enjoy playing the most, and which suits my style of playing.
  16. Dunno about coated flats but what about nickel Elixirs? They are nice & warm sounding and they last - I get 9 months to a year from Elixirs.
  17. It’s funny but these valves are a bit Goldilocks & The 3 Bears for me. In the ABM600 it thickens up the sound nicely on my Precision, adding in some nice harmonics but no real drive. On the OriginAL pedal I had to have the drive fully off and the input gain really backed off in order to have anywhere near a regular bass sound that wasn’t Lemmy on Schwarzeneggers steroids.
  18. That’s my thoughts too. I’m a confirmed Precision player but if I were asked to stand in on a gig/recording session for a band outside of my preferred punk/Oi I think I would take along my Jazz.
  19. Bassdirect are the only ones I know who stock Hipshot Xtenders
  20. Look great, and noticeable how much more compact the SUB is. I’ve found that the shape of Stingrays suits me far better as a player, however the sound I want is that of Fenders.
  21. Yeah, I started gigging at 16 but had the most success from 48 - 54. Add in a drink problem which affected my enjoyment of gigs from early 20s until I was 42 that’s probably why I love gigging so much at my current age of 57.
  22. They do look nice. Price although high, well Fender Japan models generally priced inbetween US & MIM so about right I suppose.
  23. I recently bought a SubZero kit from Gear4Music. Same theory as the WL20, one (black) bug in the instrument, the other (white) bug in the amp. Good touch that, different colours, easy to sort on dark stages. Plus it works on 5.8GHz rather than the more regular 2.4 which can be affected by lights/Wi-Fi etc. Used it at two gigs on the same charge - apparently you can get 4hrs from it. Never noticed any latency issues. At £70 I’d recommend it.
  24. Cool pic, Tim, and even cooler looking bass!
  25. For much of the music I listen to I can’t make out all of the lyrics so seldom try to understand what the song is about. It’s also really easy to get songs completely wrong it seems, having read a few classic examples of this.
