  1. Thanks, it’s an originals band, sort of rockabilly punk. I want to be as near to their album (of which I’ve had to learn it all) as possible. I really like the music and the whole way the band is set up really works with my ways of thinking so I really hope I get it.
  2. I’ve got an audition tomorrow and one of the songs requires a bit of drive so I’m doing the same, TC Spark to the rescue.
  3. That’s crazy money, easily worth twice that.
  4. Some people are putting some what I’d call unrealistic prices on things but many of them have been up for ages so I wouldn’t say they’re selling at said prices.
  5. In my last band I used the Tech21 Para Driver (think Sansamp with adjustable sweepable mids) leaving the eq on the ABM off. The clinical sound of the PD through the warmth of the ABM matched really well imo.
  6. The most comfortable steel rounds I’ve played are D’addario Pro Steels and Elixirs. I use Elixirs as the sound lasts for ages, I can get nearly a year out of a set.
  7. I’m getting that way too. I’ve found that my ideal setup is a steel rounds strung rosewood board Precision with Custom Shop 62 pickups, into an Ashdown. I’m even finding that after years of using my trusty Para Driver that I’m now preferring bass straight into amp. Tools for the job I suppose.
  8. ABM600 & 2 x ABM PRO NEO 210s here as well. The ABM600 is the best amp I’ve ever had.
  9. Sold Seymour Duncan Studio Bass Compressor, boxed and in very good condition (no Velcro). Instead of me explaining it see the link to the Bass Compressor Guru, Ovnilab, who lists it amongst his top picks: http://www.ovnilab.com/reviews/vicegrip.shtml £115 gets this to your door in the UK
  10. Sold A very nice Zoom MS60B. We all know what these can do and if I’m honest I’m too lazy to write it all down anyway. Boxed and in good condition (Velcro on the bottom) £60 gets it delivered to you in the UK.
  11. Yes to 1 & 11 No to the rest
  12. Agree, the b&w maple seems “higher” in its eq, the ‘burst rosewood sitting “lower” in the eq. Certainly gives me a bit of a conundrum, I’ve an audition on Mon, from the two clips I reckon the rosewood would sound better but I’ve been playing maple for a good while and it feels more familiar. I think go for the one that I play better.
  13. Nice one, I’ve been very impressed with mine. I’d previously had others which were ok at home but just couldn’t handle gigs, ambient noise interfered and E string not even a starter. Whereas the TC I used for many gigs, on some big stages with very loud background music and no problems at all. I bought it for overseas gigs to cut down on taking too much gear but ended up using it instead of a pedal tuner after the first overseas gig, it worked so well.
  14. Well I was seeing Buckcherry on 29 Nov in Milton Keynes but they’ve pulled the whole UK tour citing rising COVID cases.
  15. Was wondering earlier, as you do on a Friday, how many of us who are in different bands that play different genres use the same gear, or have dedicated basses/amps/strings for each genre. To expand I’m a rounds guy, but keep feeling that my classic rock band would sound better with flats, that type of thing.
  16. And if you were unlucky you got the rats as well…..
  17. If you like the Ashdown sound why not check out their ABM PRO NEO range. They do a 112, 115 & 210, and the 210 has diagonally placed cones so is smaller than a traditional 210.
  18. Weight is 4.57kg or bang on 10lbs. Have to admit was surprised at that, feels less on that Comfort Strap.
  19. I think you’ve got the best brand there is, in respect of getting this sorted. And in respect of the sound of course.
  20. Good to hear this, must have been a great day when you finally got it back
  21. I think the cabs were as much a part of it as the amps. I`ve found that whenever I`ve used TE cabs there`s an ice-pick frequency in the upper mids that I just can`t get rid of, yet if I use a TE amp with any other brand of cabs although the famed sound is there it`s somewhat reduced. Pretty much like having an Ampeg amp head, you`ll still get the classic Ampeg sound through any cab but put it through an Ampeg cab and it`s almost doubled.
  22. Sadly some of the punk bands about aren`t that good, are pretty much as described, whereas some are truly amazing, really tight and all able to play very well. I think your standards @Rexel Matadorare the right ones, there`s nothing wrong in any of what you say and I don`t think you`re taking it too seriously at all. Having been on the punk/Oi circuit the bands that can & do play well rise to getting the good gigs pretty quickly, and there are plenty out there, maybe these guys have that potential but need steering/focusing, sometimes that aspect doesn`t need to be done by the lead songwriter.
