Worth looking at an Ashdown RM500, you can pick them up used for around £300 and they`ll def do what you`re after. Same with Markbass, I`ve found that their amps pair very nicely with Barefaced cabs.

Was there ever a more pointless job than that of the man who is employed to fit the indicators on a BMW?

Me too. To my shame will be my first time seeing Maiden.

Our drummer said that apparently NMcB had a stroke a while back, and that although he was still playing he was no longer able to do what he used to. Probably the best thing to do, shame though.

That old problem of missing notes when playing

Me too, fortunately I’ve never had one on a gigging bass, only on the one I use for my non-gigging classic rock band. -
Sex Pistols to reunite...with one glaring omission
Lozz196 replied to upside downer's topic in General Discussion
It’s both of those that I could quite easily have chatted with, at various events/gigs I’ve been at/playing. I’m sure both would have been fine as I’ve met and gigged with loads of musicians who I watched on Top of The Pops etc when growing up, and whose records I’ve got. But for me I just wanted to keep them as my teenage heroes and not as real people. -
Not my sort of thing but no denying how tight they are. And the bass sound is awesome.

Reflects the current music I suppose, doesn’t seem to be that many bands in the charts, mostly solo artists. -
Sex Pistols to reunite...with one glaring omission

I’m not anti Lydon, I just think that great frontman he is, of my all time favourite band, he’s probably someone who I would find irritating and hard work in real life. Besides, The Sex Pistols were my teenage posters on the bedroom wall band, I wouldn’t like to meet any of them (I have had a good few opportunities to do so) I’d rather leave them on that wall, being the main inspiration for me becoming a musician. -
U2 tribute band needs new bassist, a question for you all

He seems like a fairly well adjusted chap from that interview -

Is it physically unable to play these notes or concentration waning so forgetting them? If the first then practice more, if the second then is the lack of concentration due to the enjoyment of the gig itself. If yes then unless it’s causing a huge hole in the song which really stands out then I wouldn’t worry too much. -

Yeah I’ll bet he took the news very calmly 🤣 -
One of the venues we play has full Orange backline, I always get a great sound from the bass amp, nice full rich sound, enjoy the new amp.

Many moons ago I foolishly left a band member in charge of my gear, foolishly because he either left my bass behind or it was stolen from under his nose and he didn`t notice. I looked up the gigs of the bands we`d played with that night and went to their next ones, if I`d seen my (ex) bass being played, well it would have been a case of Paddington stares at close quarters.

From the demos I’ve seen of the Aguilar DB599 compressor it sounds really good.
-
Only played a couple of them, and then for not very long, but despite my apprehension I was able to get used to it quite quickly. I don’t think it would be my choice but I’d be able to gig with one with a bit more concentration than usual.
-
I’ve a lot of gear to sell but I’m thinking of getting a bass specifically made for me, essentially the Mustang bass that Fender don’t make: Black Slim Jazz width neck (same dimensions as my CIJ) Maple fretboard Hipshot Ultralites inc D-Tuner P & J pickups Vol, Vol, Tone 7.0lbs
-
Not good, fortunately not too much of a loss monetary wise. I never leave my vehicle unlocked when loading in/out if on my own, but prefer to do the relay thing where the vehicle is never unattended whenever there’s anything in it. Similarly I also like someone on guard with the gear in the venue.

U2 tribute band needs new bassist, a question for you all
Lozz196 replied to police squad's topic in General Discussion
Given that The Edge seems to use a different guitar for each song the guitarist will need a big van & deep pockets. As a slight aside a mate of mine is convinced that different guitars/body woods/pickups/strings make no difference to the sound, and that the only thing that does is speakers. So we’re telling him that from now on The Edge will just play a Strat for every song but that his roadies will be wheeling out a different cab for each, so he can get his sound. -

That’s a very good call, he’s used plenty of different types of basses over the years so not really identifiable with anything long term or specific, realistically Precision or Jazz will cover the sounds needed. -
Ah, yeah that would be a tad too much

Good to see “your Malcolm” has the right guitar 👍

Fender Precision (1957 onwards) Musicman Stingray 4 -
Might be overkill in terms of what volume they can put out but having a set up which makes it easier to hear yourself has to be a bonus. Plus a better depth of sound from two 210s as opposed to one.
