  1. Bass Direct do them as well, though their website shows the stock/balanced wind ones to be out of stock at present. I`ve been after a pickup that gives slightly thinner mids and these certainly sound like what I`m after. Problem with many that do that is they also tend to boost the lows to a point that I don`t like whereas these sound perfect for what I`m looking for.
  2. I`d look at this from an audience & venue point of view, are the band playing in venues that charge and to those that want to hear originals or in free admission pubs to a mixed bunch looking to chill/boogie/sing along on a Friday night. If the latter then drop the originals, or develop them and gig them at venues/to audiences who are receptive, but keep them separate. Dropping one or two in is ok, or if you have a following that come to each venue then you can put more in if said following like them, but other than that to me it`s like playing album tracks that no-ones heard of, pub-going Friday night chaps & chapesses aren`t generally interested in stuff they don`t know.
  3. Gary will certainly be able to sort it, he’s just done a cracking job setting up my 5-string Precision
  4. They sound great, I’m assuming at the start it was just the neck pickup? Probably one of the best Precision sounds I’ve heard in a good while, might look into these, which ones are they, underwound/stock/overwound?
  5. If it’s happening on its own and the eq/volume isn’t being pushed too much it could be a cone issue.
  6. As you’ve got the RM cabs already but want a one cab solution the RM414, their 4ohm RM410, might be worth trying. I found it slightly less scooped than the ABM410, so that equates to punchier for me.
  7. 28lbs for a 212, can’t go wrong other than needing an SVT to stop it floating away 😀
  8. When I was gigging & touring I was with New Moon. I chose them through recommendations, plus I liked that you detail the gear you have rather than just tot up a value.
  9. Every bassist in the audience who’s over 50, which given the music will probably be a good percentage
  10. The ABM NEO cabs are quite small in comparison to the regular ABM cabs. The 210 is nice and portable in comparison, with the cones being diagonally situated it’s less wide, and the depth too is less than the regular ones. I’m 55 with a dodgy back and can manage both of my 210s at the same time from my flat to the car (minimum 30metres). Whereas I used to struggle with the regular ABM210.
  11. Well Cliff did use a few different basses, seen him with Stingrays and Precisions (always seem to be his favoured sunburst/maple tho).
  12. Or their ABM PRO-NEO range, both sound good and easily portable, plus cost effective.
  13. I think it was Fenders medieval bass, the Precision-Lute
  14. If it can’t be both (providing image essential as you say) then sound. If I’m going to see, let’s say an AC/DC tribute I don’t really care what they look like, I just want to hear those songs being played well. So what if the lead guitarist is in jeans instead of a schoolboy outfit, as long as he nails those solos all is well in the world.
  15. I think this just happens as we get older, listen to Axl Rose now, there’s none of the power and attack that he used to have though the tone is still there.
  16. Think you’re right, and he certainly plays some good stuff on it too, def not a case of bass there to make up the numbers on this show.
  17. Just watching it, am not a fan but he has a really strong voice, and a proper band playing, plus he genuinely looks like he’s having the time of his life up there. I think I approve.
  18. Yeah I’ll be sticking with my Ashdown gear but it’s great to see UK based companies now offering lightweight bass gear, Ashdown, Orange, Laney all getting in there with affordable gear that will hold pretty much any gig.
  19. Might not have been the best bass player but he did have one heck of an image. Which is of course why McLaren supported getting him in the band, whereas Rotten wanted to even things up in the mates dept.
  20. We just waited until we were all comfortable. The main driver was the drummer, as he has Crohn’s disease he’s on immuno-suppressants so has to be more careful, once he was ready to go so were we. With this rotten pandemic everyone has different situations, be they medical, family, work etc, and I think Jack’s reaction is the best, when all are ready resume, no putting conditions in.
  21. It looks kind of in the middle of the Ashdown RM and ABM ranges to me.
  22. Agree, that was a great album, just not a traditional Crue album, thought the guitar work on it was excellent

    NPD - Sansamp

That’s a good idea, I did similar with their Para Driver, no matter what rig I was using FOH got the sound that was needed. Also meant as I was DI’d from that I could adjust eq/volume on whatever amp I was using for on stage sound without it interfering with the mix out front.
