I’ve never been in a relationship long enough for these types of things to emerge but I do recall a drummer in a previous band saying that his girlfriend had told him he no longer needed to be in a band as now he had her. For me that would equate bin, and bin now. In fact I don’t think I’d even respond I just would cut someone with that attitude from my life completely.

I don’t know if the TE Transit B preamp pedal has the typical TE sound but if it does then that and a neutral sounding amp head would be a good solution.

I’d start off with a Precision rather than trying to get a Precision sound from so many other types of basses, I wasted so much time doing that it’s laughable.

On my Ashdown RM500 when on mute the background light on the VU meter is a different colour.

There was a record by The Folk Devils that me & my mates used to put on at parties in 1986, was a right racket, just can’t remember what it was called, anyone got any ideas?

Bizarre indeed, I remember when I bought my old Squier VM77 Jazz Bass the shop offered to put it in a box for me but I didn’t want to let it out of my sight, no way was I taking the chance of a shiny untouched boxed one instead of the great player display model that just played so good.

For some reason the ordinary punter seems to prefer a trebly bass, rather than a bassy bass. In bands where I’ve had a traditional bass sound it often seemed that I may as well have not turned up, but in the bands where I’ve played with a lot of top end & drive I always received very appreciative comments, and not just a few either.

Agree @SumOne, the Para Driver is an excellent bit of kit and enables a lot of control over the mids.

Def, my at home sound is nothing like my band sound.

Yes that eq will sound really nice on its won but get buried in the mix. Depending on the roles of the bass and guitar in the band it could work but the fact you`ve raised this post says it`s not, and adding more power or speakers will rumble the optics behind the bar to shattering point and really durge the sound out.

Yep, from what I heard it sounded very "classic Precision/Ampeg/flats". Not a fan of Mr Bugg, mainly due to his voice, but the music of his band always sounds good.

Given spec required and the mention of Trace I’d take a look at the Ashdown ABM600 EVO4. Much more versatile and powerful than the previous ABMs.

The old bassist of one of my fave bands, Booze & Glory used to use an Orange amp combined with a Sansamp, sounded great combining the warmth & depth of the Orange sound with the sharpness of the Sansamp.

It all depends on the band I’m in. In the last one we were a 3 piece originals street punk band, so my bass was trebly, gnarly, with break-up/gain, acting as bass and a bit like rhythm guitar, a la Lemmy, keeping the drive going. My current band is a classic rock band with guitar and keys so I do the Fender/Ampeg thing having a sound that locks with the drums and keeps out of the way of the guitar & keys. To me it’s all about the band and what it requires.

If it’s the Rootmaster 115 combo you’re looking at if you find you like its’ sound then look to get one of the RM115 cabs and double up
