Thanks all, I’ve a gig on Sat where the stage is minute, we’re a 5-piece so to make my life easier with both loading in and setting up I’m travelling light and letting trusty BDI21 handle the load. Was fairly sure it wasn’t needed to be connected but great to have those that know confirm it.
-
Ok probably a daft question but as above - it’s my Behringer BDI21 really - if I do this what leads do I have to use? Obviously I have to plug my bass into the input and XLR into the DI but do I need to plug a lead into the output even though it won’t be going anywhere as am using it standalone?

Mine too

Never underestimate the lure of the low-end, get them whilst they`re young.

I`m considering a short-scale Jake, chambered & with Ultralites to keep things nice & light.

Show us your rig of choice for the weekend ** Basschat edition**

Great looking set up Rob, 2 especially nice looking Precisions -
They’re nice amps, a mate of mine has one and it makes his plywood BC Rich copy sound really good.

What's the best cheap (sub £40 new) split P pickup?
Lozz196 replied to neepheid's topic in General Discussion
All 3 makes mentioned so far will more than fit the bill. -
Ken!

Rotten news, I used to chat quite often with Dave, was a really nice chap
-
Decent songs there, nice way to start out for a band
-
I’ve not used them but our stand in guitarist put them in his Aerodyne Jazz and he says they brought it to life.

All seems perfectly reasonable to me

I use the Mono M80 guitar cases for my Mustang Basses, yes it’s a bit tight but I’ve had no issues and my gigging/rehearsing bass stays in the M80 unless I’m using it. -

In an old Aerodyne Jazz I replaced the stock pickup with a Seymour Duncan Hot Stack, made a much better balance between the two pickups and without any radical changes in sound, was pretty much the same but just about 20% "more" if that makes sense. -
Fender Rumble 800 Combo or something else?
Lozz196 replied to WILD FROG SHOT's topic in Amps and Cabs
The Rumbles are great amps, sound really good, imo difficult to go wrong with getting one of these. However given your wifes set-up has worked well for you why not get the very same, then you have exact backups for each other in the unlikely event of breakages/failures (unless of course you’re gigging at the same time). And this way should either of you end up on a very big gig you have the option of using both of the Compacts as a stack. -
Yep, everyone will offer up their preference, just try a few out and establish which is yours. But def, playing with other musicians gives invaluable experience.

Nice one, they’re decent amps

I`ve a Marshall Valvestate 100 watt combo that is surplus to requirements @SteveXFR, if interested PM me (fully paid up on my selling dues on here). Not fully valve of course but does have a lovely sound, and can be used at home a tad easier than a full valve amp.
-
Nice Precision type tone from the 2 pickups together/pick playing part.
-
They look really nice, may well end up with one of these
-
Definitely, what I`ve found over my years of playing, be it on bass or guitar, is that if you have a set-up that you like the sound of, adding in another of the same cab is just silly-grin inducing, it takes the sound you liked and just makes it immense.
-
Yep I’ve done that, good call.
-
Assuming it’s a 4ohm at full power with an 8ohm speaker in it, if you connect an 8ohm 2x12 to it you’ll get equal power to each cab, so each speaker in the 2x12 will get half of what the one in the combo gets. So 400 watts, 1x12 in combo gets 200 watts, each 12 in the 2x12 gets 100 watts.

This was happening when I was in my last band. The others used to whine a bit at having to carry guitars etc into hotels at 1 or 2am but to me anyone watching the vans getting loaded then parking up would see this and not bother breaking in for bags of merch. And given the numbers of bands that lost gear compared to us that lost none I`d say it worked. As you say Pete, be careful out there.
