Led Zep, Rainbow, Kansas, Dio, that sort of stuff Russ. Plenty of timing changes and fiddly little riffs/runs. You can certainly tell they were on drugs when they wrote that material. It’s made me a much better musician in the year & a bit I’ve been doing it too, wouldn’t have thought I was capable of stuff like that a few years back.

I think I’ve been lucky both with my last band and my current band. The current band is a classic rock covers band with no vocals. It’s not a gigging band, just mates getting together once a fortnight and for various reasons (all of which happened before I joined) there are no vocals. We had a mate come and do some singing for us on Thu and the general consensus was that it put us all off and we prefer it instrumental. Nothing to do with his ability mind, we just prefer it instruments only. Probably helps that we’ve chosen difficult songs to play, there’s a lot of work in them so it doesn’t get boring. The last band was a 3 piece originals punk/Oi band, all of us completely committed. I only left as the constant gigging and touring combined with a full time job got too much for me. So two bands completely different but the same in one respect, all band members wanting the same from that current band.

I’ve gone for black, to me 3TS/black/rosewood & blocks screams 70s. If it hadn’t had blocks I’d probably have gone tort.

Good points there Jack, and yes, having been in a 3 piece there`s no hiding place, everyone has to pull their weight so in general you get 3 band members with the same attitudes & drive.

Same for me, though to make life easy I used to use my Class D amp for rehearsals.

Looks great Nick, the Professional range is very good imo, though clearly it can still be a bit hit & miss with the old Fender QC which I`m still at a loss to understand in this day & age, with all the machinery that goes to making instruments.

Would be one from The Jam probably, too many to think of which is my absolute fave. Great playing on the vid btw, who would have thought of putting such a complicated cross-melody bassline in a chorus, yet it works so well.

Def Roqsolid for the cab, as well as protection from the weather you can have a section in it which you can insert a piece of board to protect the speaker grill. For the head, well I have a Wenger pilots case for my Ashdown RM500. It has plenty of separate sections for leads etc, and is very sturdy. For touring I also have a Boschma case which I lined with foam, very hard wearing and as @three says, cases like these are very useful for putting a cab on to elevate and reduce storage space on smaller stages.

The DBS range was great, if only Marshall had kept Eden going and somehow integrated the DBS into their range, would have been great.

Give it a try, if it sounds good it is good. The science says to not mix speaker sizes but in the interim between getting both of the 112s if the 210 &112 sound good together it’s a win.

Agree, should be good and yes, Mike Mills played some very good bass lines.

Quite varied, mainly electric guitar based, either punk or rock, but also have stuff like Motown, ABBA, James Blunt, Wham. In my youth I was more genre loyal, now I’m more loyal to my ears, if they like they like, irrespective (though won’t have anything to do with extreme politics, either left or right).

I had a few Eden 410 cabs, Nemesis and XLT are the ones that I recall the model numbers. Both were great, and the Nemesis was only about 50lbs or so.

If looking for a backup bass to a Precision check out the Vintage V4, seriously good instruments.

I hate it when you hear of stars/famous people behaving like this. A mate of mine does film extra work and says the difference in some of the “names” is astounding, with some being happy to queue up for the same meal as the extras get then sit with them to eat it, compared with others who they’re not allowed to speak to or even make eye contact with.

Wham, Duran Duran, Spandau Ballet, pretty much all of the early 80s bands. Being a schoolboy punk at the time this music was a personal affront to me, how closed-minded I was!

Def the TTD album, bought it recently and it’s really good.
