Well........ For some reason Trace amps do seem to be louder than other brands with comparable power ratings. Who knows how or why.
-
Yes the same cabs, just looks like they’ve done a vintagey looking one as well. I prefer metal grills if possible, just down to the practicality, I do think the fabric looks better though.
-
Well I’m yet to use them really, either at home (cos would be too loud) or with my band, though as we’re now permitted to rehearse again that is going to change soon, in fact if weathers ok might use them this week.

I’ve now got two of the ABM PRO NEO 210s, Dave. The ABM EVO-IV 410 & 210 cabs I had before were great, sharper sounding than the previous ranges, but just too big/heavy. I really liked them, although they were quite low-end biased when flat this made for a great presence on big stages and they took my sound really well. So when the PRO NEOs came out I snapped up a couple. Am yet to use them in a band setting but I can tell at home volumes the sound is still classic ABM.

Ashdown RMs are good cabs, nice and light/portable and sound really good. However once they brought out their ABM PRO NEO range I swapped my pair RM210s for a pair of these, again light and portable. Not had a chance to use them in a band situation yet but they def have the ABM sound, which is slightly deeper and fuller than the RMs.

Sold One Mexican Fender Jazz bass, made in 2008 up for grabs at reduced price of £450 Previous owner has changed the bridge to a Fender Hi-Mass, and the pickups to a Tonerider for the neck and Fender Yosemite for the bridge. I’ve had a series/parallel switch put in which really adds some beef to the sound. Some usual buckle rash on the back but nothing that I can really capture on camera, so not that bad. Everything on it works as it should. Comes in a padded Fender gig-bag. Weight is 4.85kg. Given that it doesn’t have a hard case, that I don’t have any packaging material, and the many recent nightmare courier threads this is collection/meet up only. No trades.

A good few venues I’ve played in the UK have this sort of set up, and do prefer the bands to use these house cabs & shells, makes it quicker on changeovers plus the sound man doesn’t have different sounding bass drum & rack toms for every band.

Looks great

Four years of lusting ends in sadness.

Same for me, the teenage/early 20s me says what a great idea, the 50 plus actual me acknowledges defeat. -

Prog about Suedes album Coming Up on Sky Arts now, absolutely loved that album so really looking forward to this one. -
I found that too, in established bands if there was ever an A-hole amongst them it was inevitably someone new to the band & fame rather than someone used to it.
-
Pretty much the same for me, not super low but low enough to be aware that technique wise it would be better higher.

Just a heads up, sold something for £400 on eBay Item listed under £1 selling fees Via the new way of paying I received £348.50 into my account Cash on Collection only from now on methinks

Yep BT12, the BT8 is for pre 2012 Fenders, in fact I think that’s how they’ve got their serial numbers, BT8 is for 2008 until 2012, BT12 from then on.

I wouldn’t say it’s hi-tech super squashy, more like it evens things out and makes things a bit thicker.

Well today I took them two packets of biscuits. I’m not sure if there’s any specific charges if sending the amp there but any work I’ve ever had done (I always take the amps there myself) has been settled with bikkies.
-
Just back from Ashdown, they plugged in my amp and gave it a thorough test, all working exactly as it should be. Thanks @Ashdown Engineering, yet another reason to buy your excellent products.
-
You’d get away with it, be careful and don’t push too much low-end and you should be ok, use your ears to determine if the cab is struggling - though in all honesty having a 600 watt head myself I can’t envisage being in a situation where I’d ever be pushing it to full power.
-
Yes that will be fine. Your amp is 600 watts at 4ohms so connecting an 8ohm cab to it approximately halves the amount of power delivered to it, so 300 watts, which your 410 will handle. If you connect up another cab, as long as it’s another 8ohm cab effectively each cab will then receive 300 watts, so make sure this cab is also capable of handling 300 watts or more (the theory says the best second cab should be the same as the first one).

From the bands I’ve been in I’m not sure they’d know any basses other than the ones I was playing.
-
Unless you’re likely to get a soundcheck I’d go for the condom. The desk will have the sound set for their mics and although any experienced sound person should be able to sort quickly, your first song is the one where you want to grab the crowd, having them need to sort levels and eq on that is risky.

For years I tried and couldn’t get along with compression, but then I was playing with gain/drive and digging in as hard as possible all the time, maybe I already had the compression I needed with the drive, and dynamics weren’t a factor. Now however I’m playing with a lighter touch, lighter pick, no drive, and have minimal compression. I’ve just chosen the “even everything out” setting from the manual, it doesn’t seem to do anything until I switch it off, which I suppose is a sign it’s working as it should. Holds me back a bit, which is what I wanted, nothing special, no instant miracles, just smooth things out a tad.
-
You know I hadn’t realised that I was using the Shape feature, I just used the same settings as last rehearsal which was the first time using this amp with my current band, and which was 5 months ago. For some reason “in” is off, “out” is on. Would explain why you think out is a bit rich, it scoops mids and adds lows/highs. Thinking about it that’s probably why I’ve upped my mids a fair bit.
-
I don’t know, to me it’s like deciding to be a classic rock/metal band doing stuff like AC/DC, Anvil, Maiden etc, dressing and performing the part and then sticking Rio or Karma Chameleon in the set to keep a band member happy. Once they get their way on one song it will snowball, within a year the original idea will seem as long ago as the 80s themselves.
