  1. I think you’re right, have a theme and stick to it, offer something a bit different to the regular mix & match of the same songs in a different order.
  2. I’ve had similar experiences, “we can’t make refund until you close the dispute”. Oh yes you can, one chance to make that very refund or watch your message fly it’s way to your CEOs inbox. Heres your refund.
  3. I found it less of a drive function and more of a sound thickener and harmonics adder. Yes there is some drive/gain there but it’s subtle, unlike that on the RM amps which quickly becomes apparent in anything after about 9 o’clock on the control.
  4. We did that for some friends of ours who were over from the US, aside from sticks & picks we provided everything for them. We did get main support slot though.
  5. Fave - Gibson/Marshall such as AC/DC, Guns N Roses Least fave - that tinny weak distorted single coil-ish sound that many American bands used, such as Talking Heads, The Strokes
  6. Give it to your guitarist telling him it will make him sound better......,
  7. Probably the only Spice Girls song that I like.
  8. I do the same as Ed, makes life a lot easier
  9. And she was in an episode of Minder this week too.
  10. Some bands seem to like using other peoples gear, they just turn up, help themselves to the free beer, play, then leave straight after their set. As a mate of ours said, they’re not bands, they’re a bunch of blokes on a night out.
  11. Can just imagine that being played at The Blitz in the early 80s, just oozes that vibe
  12. All booked in for Tuesday, will of course be taking the obligatory packet of biscuits that permits me access to Ashdown HQ.
  13. Love the look of that 44-64, Si, right up my street that is.
  14. Whenever I’ve lent my rig I’ve told the people using it of the rules, no blowing it up, no drinks to be put on it. I have walked on to the stage mid-set to remove a drink that was on my amp.
  15. Having done many gigs like this, in the main it works along the lines of letting them use cabs & drum shells/stands. They’ll need to bring amp heads, cymbals, snare drum, kick drum pedals.
  16. They’ll have quite different core sounds so I’d do a search on YouTube and vote with your ears. Ashdown is a nice warm sound, fits nicely into the mix and although you can add plenty of highs they don’t get too harsh. GK is much cleaner and sharper, growls like a good un, and can get harsh if required on that top end.
  17. Yes, must admit after having had to set it this way I’m going to take it to Ashdown for a service as my first one didn’t need this amount of input gain and it seemed a lot louder as well, I rarely took that amp past 10 o’clock on output/volume.
  18. Mine at rehearsal last night (so good to be rehearsing again) was as below. Using my Precision and the studios SVT810, which is a bit boomy hence the pushed top end. Sounded great though, really good solid presence in the mix. No Drive even tho setting at midday, with boomy cab it was too much so switched it off.
  19. Difficult to go wrong with a Yammy, they make very good quality instruments. Although I’m Fender nuts when/if I need a 5 string it will be Yamaha that get my coin.
  20. Great you got it sorted, though I’m a bit bemused how IP & PFs thorough investigation yielded such a different outcome as yours. Presumably theirs didn’t include picking up the phone....
  21. I can’t see how crowd control is the responsibility of the band, surely it has to be of the owner(s) of the venue.
  22. I liked Oasis, well the first 3 albums and a couple of singles afterwards, but always seemed to prefer the songs sung by Noel. As has been said they probably wouldn’t have been as big with Noel as the lead singer/without Liam, as most bands need the singer to have that edge and charisma, and whilst I don’t think his voice is that great he certainly had those.
  23. First off, to make this completely clear this bass is not a Fender, it isn’t marked as a Fender, and isn’t being sold as a Fender. The details below are taken from the ad from which I bought it on here some months ago. Northwest Guitars P Bass Body - £129 (paid £15 extra to have a J pup rout) Northwest Guitars Replacement Precision Bass Maple Neck - Vintage Gloss - £139.09 - 42 mm EMG PJ Set Active Solderless - £159 (extra unused parts for different configs inc) Schaller Tuners - Original F-Series BMF - £80 Hipshot KickAss 4 String Bass Bridge - £65 Black Scratchplate - Mex PJ fit -£11.99 Various hardware: Strap Hooks, Knobs, string retainer, neck bolt inserts, Fender neck plate - £20 Weight is 4.39kg 9lb/11oz Comes with a cheapo gigbag. Only slight cosmetic damage is as per pics, some plectrum rash on the pick guard and a small dent on the back - the 5p coin gives an idea of how small this is. Given that it doesn’t have a hard case, that I don’t have any packaging material, and the many recent nightmarecourier threads thus us collection/meet up only.
  24. Sold One Squier VM77 Jazz in very good condition, only mods are a Hipshot 3 way string retainer. Comes with Fusion gig bag. All important Basschat question - 4.26kg or 9lbs 6oz. Given that it doesn’t have a hard case, that I don’t have any packaging material, and the many recent nightmare courier threads thus us collection/meet up only. No trades.
