  1. The piano but at the end of Layla, which is my fave part of the song btw.
  2. That will be my approach Paul, at the moment I don’t need a 5 string bass, and won’t get one until I do, but should the need arise I’ll have to focus solely on it to get the best out of both it and me. I’m be sure at some point it will happen.
  3. For rock & funky pop, if not already in the set I’d put in: Play That Funky Music White Boy - Wild Cherry
  4. People behave been banned for talk like that 😂
  5. Brings back some fond memories of much easier times.
  6. Well whilst I can order one online I’d really like to just be able to go to a music shop and tryout/buy a Squier Classic Vibe 60s Jazz Bass, so I might well show some restraint and do exactly that as my end of lockdown treat. Would just be nice to spend an hour or so in PMT Northampton whiling away the time looking at instruments & amps and trying a few out - though I’m pretty set on the CV60s.
  7. Casey Jones burgers at Euston. Some Saturday afternoons me and my mate would get on the train to Euston after the lunchtime beers just to get a Casey Jones burger. Yum! 🍔
  8. Calling @Ashdown Engineering
  9. Someone’s gonna get hambushed by this thread
  10. You won’t notice the person as that colour scheme needs sunglasses just to look at it 😎
  11. For me it’s wanting a different sound, only to realise once the initial buzz has worn off that I only like Precisions & Jazzes, P/J basses at a push tho preferably not active.
  12. I know that feeling only too well. The thrill of a new bass gives a quick buzz, often followed by the realisation that you prefer the ones you already had.
  13. Bass and guitar, though I’ll only ever describe myself as a bassist that can play guitar as although I’m fairly good on rhythm guitar I don’t really feel proficient enough on the instrument to ever call myself a guitarist.
  14. My old band did a good few gigs with MC4. Don’t think they particularly liked us though.
  15. That is a beautiful bass, I’m very sorry to hear of the health issues.
  16. Matt Sorum of Guns N Roses/The Cult/Velvet Revolver, I just love the attack that he gets on the kit, plus he’s rock solid in his playing.
  17. Up until last year the words of No 14 would have been alien to me as it was hit hard at all times relentlessly, but I`ve been learning - after 40 years of playing - to back off a bit and let the amp make the volume rather than me, and have really enjoyed it, makes learning newer complex material a lot easier. My fave on the list is No 6, many a time I see bands where they have great players on either guitar or bass but I just wonder, why did they choose that sound for that band.
  18. I love the feel of nickels, with the most comfortable nickels I`ve found so far being Ernie Ball Super Slinkies, which die too quickly, and Elixirs. But I just prefer the sound of steels, and am really liking Elixir steels at present.
  19. We did that too, enabled us to take many opportunities that bands which split the money at the end of the night & went on the fosters couldn’t.
  20. Around 2010/2011 I’d say. It’s a great bass, common sense (and already having 2 Precisions) is keeping me from an impulse buy at the moment on this one.
  21. If memory serves correct I think I used to own this one - correct me if I’m wrong Eddie - if so it’s a really great bass.
  22. Agree, and it always seems to be music venues/shops/areas that are chosen as the casualties in the name of this “progress”.
  23. Further on from my earlier post, my old band are still writing material and are looking at buying recording equipment so as to get stuff worked on properly before going into the studio. I suppose it’s all down to the individuals at the end of the day, some see and take an opportunity to work further, which I dare say is more likely in an originals band as there’s more of a goal there.
