  1. I remember using those in rehearsal rooms back in the late 80s, great amps.
  2. Thinner/faster, if you find a Precision neck too chunky the Jazz is a less of a handful solution.
  3. Blimey Mick, I bet you’re like dog with 2 of the proverbial re this, ASWAD free locally!
  4. They certainly sound very good on the YouTube review
  5. The simplicity of a good Precision can never be underestimated
  6. That’s a beauty @geoham, I think once the world settles down a bit I’ll do one of these courses, must be very rewarding.
  7. Good choice 👍
  8. Looking for vintage looking & sounding, well I’d go for the Road Worn one that’s up for grabs on here. In terms of comfy vintage feel they’re great, the only comfier to play Precision I’ve played was a Custom Shop Pino Sig.
  9. They’re fine with me, I need the help, though a visible dot suffices, one of the reasons I switched to maple fretboards was better visibility under bright stage lights. Have to say though, on my old Aerodyne Jazz which didn’t have any markers on the fretboard I didn’t find it that off-putting (though never played any brightly lit stages with that bass).
  10. Good call. Given that Mark King used TE and then had Ashdown do the MK500 that makes a lot of sense.
  11. So no pressure then 😮
  12. Yes, used to come to all our gigs at a specific venue, then once they were together he quit. Shame, for the music we were doing he was a bloody good drummer - and a great laugh too, a good bloke to be in a band with.
  13. And a massive boost in bass sales on eBay no doubt….
  14. I’ve never been in a relationship long enough for these types of things to emerge but I do recall a drummer in a previous band saying that his girlfriend had told him he no longer needed to be in a band as now he had her. For me that would equate bin, and bin now. In fact I don’t think I’d even respond I just would cut someone with that attitude from my life completely.
  15. I don’t know if the TE Transit B preamp pedal has the typical TE sound but if it does then that and a neutral sounding amp head would be a good solution.
  16. I’d agree with all so far, KiOgon loom, Martin Herrick for rewind.
  17. Cuts down his options on gear I’m sure
  18. I’d start off with a Precision rather than trying to get a Precision sound from so many other types of basses, I wasted so much time doing that it’s laughable.
  19. On my Ashdown RM500 when on mute the background light on the VU meter is a different colour.
  20. There was a record by The Folk Devils that me & my mates used to put on at parties in 1986, was a right racket, just can’t remember what it was called, anyone got any ideas?
  21. Excellent rig, I had the same and there’s more than enough power there for anyone, glwts
  22. Bizarre indeed, I remember when I bought my old Squier VM77 Jazz Bass the shop offered to put it in a box for me but I didn’t want to let it out of my sight, no way was I taking the chance of a shiny untouched boxed one instead of the great player display model that just played so good.
  23. For some reason the ordinary punter seems to prefer a trebly bass, rather than a bassy bass. In bands where I’ve had a traditional bass sound it often seemed that I may as well have not turned up, but in the bands where I’ve played with a lot of top end & drive I always received very appreciative comments, and not just a few either.
