  1. I sense a Saturday purchase of one of these, I can feel its presence. Good to know the valve can be changed as I wouldn’t want too much gain, being able to swap for a lower gain one sounds ideal.
  2. Nice sounds! Not familiar with the material but like it a lot, will have to check them out.
  3. My HPF/LPF arrived last week. Considering New Year etc I didn’t think that was too bad. Too early to tell if I’ll like it though, as at home volumes my bass & practice amp don’t generate the boom that I want the pedal to eliminate, I’ll only find out once the band get back rehearsing — which can’t come round soon enough.
  4. Not sure on the insides but I had both versions of the RM500 for a while. I had the EVO1 version and loved it but bought EVO2 for the matt control panel (cursed middle aged eyesight), however if the 2 hadn’t have sounded like the 1 it would have gone back, happily it didn’t so the weight reduction hasn’t affected the sound or volume levels.
  5. I thought it sounded pretty decent, neck with pick especially so,
  6. I had a Tony Butler V4 Precision for a while, seriously good instrument, just felt substantial. I expected to have to change the pickups but when I A/Bd it against my US Fender there wasn’t enough in it to bother, the only thing I did was install a KiOgon loom to get better quality electrics in it.
  7. If you liked the ABM 410 sound they now do ABM NEO 210s - weigh about 35lbs and the cones are placed diagonally so a pair stand nice and tall baking it easier to hear your proper tone.
  8. Our drummer renamed my Olympic White Precisions as Cheesecake White.
  9. Not wanting to derail the thread but what do you use for the slight growl/grind as I’m also after that?
  10. Great to see another Airbourne fan on here @Cuzzie, superb band.
  11. I`m hoping that Rebellion still goes ahead in August, however it`s an indoor festival with 10.000+ people so potentially it may also be cancelled.
  12. I get that, but if you type in the value on these sites and it’s over the regular limit a prompt comes up that extra insurance is required, and asks you to select how much you now require. So how hard would it be that if you type in guitar a prompt comes up saying no insurance is available on this item, which would then prohibit the extra insurance value box from popping up and allowing you to type in a value which isn’t covered and then pay for that non existent extra insurance. Just seems that it’s easy to prompt for extra cash, not so easy to advise don’t spend your money as it’s not worth your while.
  13. The Squier VM77 & VM70s are worth a look, and are under £400.
  14. Some amps are recommended to be used like that, Ampeg SVT 3-PRO for example, whereas my Ashdown ABM600 is the input gain to clipping/meter in the red method.
  15. Have to say I’m more than a bit interested in this, pretty much as the bass I’d actually want to make doesn’t seem to be in general production, many near it (and it’s nothing special btw) but there’s always something wrong on the ones available which has stopped me from buying them. This might be a very fun way of getting the exact spec wanted.
  16. There is a thread on that somewhere on here, whoever it was who did it said it really opened the amp up.
  17. I started playing in 1980. Up until joining Basschat in 2010 I’d probably had less than 10 basses. I couldn’t even begin to count how many I’ve had since. Should be the Basschat Motto!
  18. And Parcelforce. I always think that this is fraud, selling you insurance that doesn’t cover, though they’ll say it’s in the T&Cs so the customers responsibility to read them.
  19. Thing is, I wonder how many sales Pearl Jam have made due to Pearl Jamm? As in, stray punters who see said Pearl Jamm, realise they like the music so go and buy Pearl Jams CDs & tee shirts etc. Not enough to make them significantly richer of course, but I can’t see people who truly like the real band only buying the tribute stuff.
  20. I think the letter from them to Pearl Jam was a very classy act, no moaning whinging or insults at all.
  21. I was very impressed when I played through an Ashdown Little Bastard, had a great Motown vibe with a Precision, think it was through some form of Ashdown 1x15 cab.
  22. Sounds like a nice set-up, I`m sure you`ll be really pleased with it.
  23. I had my amp set flat and got my eq/drive from my preamp pedal, in my case a Tech21 Para Driver. I did this as on the originals circuit it was either gear shares or provided rigs, this way I knew what was going to FOH was the right sound. For on stage whatever amp/cab I was using I’d either boost or lower the low-end. Made life so much easier, especially on gigs where we flew.
