  2. Good on him, a great gesture in these strange & difficult times.
  3. At the moment I’d be happy enough being able to rehearse regularly.
  4. No, it’s a regular 2015 US Standard Precision, but it has so much sentimental value - first Rebellion Festival, first European Tour, recorded our last 3 albums with it - that I don’t want it out of the house. Not fussed about it getting dinged, just don’t want some gyt stealing it.
  5. Yeah, I suppose me switching allegiance to Jazz Basses must have been like one of those Dr Who episodes where Earth goes off kilter/out of its natural orbit.
  6. At our last band practice I took my ABM600 and our guitarist - a major Alter Bridge fan - said how much he liked the sound as it reminded him of Alter Bridges bass.
  7. Agree, whenever I’ve used a Peavey, be it amp/cab or combo I’ve been more than happy. Strange really, they just never seemed to me to be that fashionable, even when all bass gear was heavy, yet the sound is superb.
  8. Glad all was ok when you took it out of the case, must have been a tense moment to say the least. And what a great bass, congrats.
  9. A well known courier are based opposite my workplace and this week I’ve seen some horrors going on - as they’ve been loading up their vans in the road. In the rain. In yorks where the items are left to tumble to the ground. Really makes me question whether I want to buy or sell anything that’s remotely breakable, unless in a hard/flight case.
  10. This year I’ve been playing - shock horror - Jazzes mostly and was going to move on one of my Precisions. However we’ve just started doing Wayward Son by Kansas in my band and my fingers are falling all over themselves on this song on the Jazz, so took the Precision I was considering selling out of its case today and went through it (I don’t take my fave one out of the house so wanted to try out on a bass I’d use in the band). Decision reversed, that bass ain’t going nowhere. Just got to swap pickups to my fave Custom Shop 62s, and was lucky enough to score a set on here this week, so methinks KiOgon is getting a message re one of his great looms this week. I’d also done the same with my Stingray earlier this week and whilst the playability was easier yet again I was reminded that I just don’t get on with the ‘Ray sound. So I suppose that I really am a confirmed Precision player (though I do now love Jazz basses too).
  11. I can certainly relate to a lot of what he said in that interview.
  12. Doing some classic 70s rock that seems to put some strange timings in all sorts of places I’d say yes, 4/4 is how we are programmed, it’s much simpler.
  13. Stormtroopers of Death No milk, mother will pay!
  14. If I were in the market for a valve amp the CTM 300 would be where my money was spent.
  15. Sitting down playing can make us evaluate our gear. I bought a cracking Gibson Les Paul but sitting down it just doesn’t work for me, so have bought an SG to replace it which works much better for me.
  16. I didn’t know he had a book out, I’ll look it up, thanks for the heads up.
  17. The Ampeg V4B is a good amp, providing playing in a hugely loud band isn’t required. Yes it’s 100 valve watts but from what I’ve heard of them they do break up into a lovely drive-sound at band volumes, not super driven but that break-up that many of us covet. Fairly light for a valve amp too I believe, think around the 40lb mark.
  18. The original Classic Vibe basses, and especially the Matt Freeman Precision.
  19. Yes, that’s a good point, not being afraid to push the eq on these really does yield some great sounds. Probably looks “wrong” to done but as you say Mark, use ears not eyes.
  20. Not on bass I haven’t, but I did when playing guitar. Pickup boosters/tubescreamers/overdrives/eq pedals were all pony into the front of the amp for solos but put them in the FX loop and away you go.
  21. I don’t think you’ll be unhappy with that choice, the PFs have a lovely tone.
  22. Agree, a lot of Lizzy type guitars there, fantastic!
  23. Sadly I think @Marvins observations are pretty much what is happening all over, as such I’m in agreement, not sure we’ll be back to gigging as quickly as hoped.
  24. Both their Precision & Jazz style basses are marked as sold out on their website , so doesn’t look too bad for them.
