  1. Yeah pretty sure Fender Japan brought out FSR in natural around that time, doubt they’d have done it if US already doing that.
  2. I’d go for the preamp pedal, mainly because I gigged extensively in similar circumstances, both in UK and Europe. I only encountered a couple of soundmen that wouldn’t go from the pedal, everywhere else they were more than happy to do so. A small pedalboard with tuner, compressor & preamp/DI is easily managed, fits nicely in a rucksack and then no matter what set up is on stage the audience get the sound you intend them to get.
  3. That’s what we did in my last band, a rolling booking only changed by us if we were unable to do it for whatever reasons. Re flakey band mates, well the last band was great but a few bands ago we had the typical musician. Send a message out asking if available for a gig on Sat 11th. Invariably a reply would be received on Tue 14th saying yeah, I’m up for that. 🤦🏻‍♂️
  4. A true classic
  5. That is a great looking bass, the wear on it really makes it imo
  6. Great new Stranglers song, I wonder who did the keys on it, was it recorded before Daves sad passing or someone new, as if the latter they’ve nailed it.
  7. Awesome rigs there
  8. I found the same thing with the Schroeder cabs that I had as well.
  9. The best way, Bill. I recall some years ago getting a great onstage sound at soundcheck, just the right balance of everything, going out front to hear the whole band and being dismayed to hear a wall of sludge/boom. So went back, adjusted & got a sound that imo was too middy/not enough lows, out front where the audience would be it was perfect. So lived with the onstage sound, and from them on used that method,
  10. That’s good to hear Dave, I don’t want too much of a difference, just enough to reduce the boom and the effort on the cones a bit.
  11. The Korean Squiers are very good basses, def worth a look I’d say
  12. Likewise
  13. Sold One Seymour Duncan Precision Quarterpound pickup, including attached pots/capacitor/input-jack, all you need do is solder your ground wire on and ready to go. Price includes delivery in the UK
  14. Really like that, excellent song, great production and love the attack on the drums
  15. Great colour co-ordination Andy, looks really good
  16. Classic set up
  17. My thoughts too
  18. Yeah I’ve got a Tech21 Q-strip on way which has an HPF on it, think removing all that excess is the way to go.
  19. For my uses most amps seem to have the bass just a bit too low, but then I suppose manufacturers have to take into account those that detune, and 5-string basses. When I listen to the bass sounds of the songs that I grew up with in the 70s & 80s they’re not deep low down bass at all, though at they time they seemed so.
  20. Sold One Badass III Bridge in good condition, comes with 3 fixing screws. Fits US Fenders, allowing through-body stringing. Price includes insured delivery in the UK.
  21. Sold One standard wind Lindy Fralin pickup. I only bought this a week or so ago from our very own Chiliwailer but have realised yet again that my own Custom Shop 62s are the best for me so moving it on. Link below to the original ad. Price includes insured delivery in the UK.
  22. Holy low end Robin, pass me the Bat-bass
  23. Very true Chris, last night at band practice I cut at 40Hz and the result was my Precision supported nicely with a good strong presence but no low-end boom/sludge.
  24. The opposite for me, as I’d just joined a band doing much more difficult songs than I was previously used to just before COVID began I kept up practicing them and have improved big time over the last 18 months. Which is nice.
  25. It’s strange but I’ve recently realised that I’m not keen on cabs that go too low in frequency as they seem to separate the bass from the rest of the instruments rather than placing it with them. Re the larger cabs, one of the best cabs I ever had was a Marshall VBC412, obviously big, 100lbs+ but oh, the sound, didn’t need to add much in the way of low end on the amp, it was just solid and beefy.
