  1. That’s not an amp It’s THE amp
  2. Yes that’s it, the actual mids are at 660. Although I love the RM amps (make that Ashdown gear in total) I never really got why the controls weren’t all labelled with the frequency or labelled bass, low-mid, mid, hi-mid, treble. Just seems a bit of a mid-match. Still, they sound great, that’s what counts.
  3. That’s a good point tegs, I’ve just spent the equivalent of 100 pints of beer on this Epi and it’s great. When I started out an instrument costing the equivalent of 100 pints of beer was not quite so great - my Kay EB-O copy in fact cost more than that, at £50 in 1980 prob equivalent to about 120 pints.
  4. To those of a suspicious nature bear in mind for me this isn’t one of those “I can’t afford the real thing so I’ll pretend to myself that the cheaper one is better”. I have both, I just prefer the cheaper one.
  5. Might do him good to be told no for a change
  6. SOLD One Badass 2 Bridge, with pre-cut grooves in the saddles, comes with 5 fixing screws. Price includes delivery in the UK.
  7. Adding the same cab again will get full power from the MAG 300, plus it will double the “size” of the sound, which for some reason really makes it feel like it’s much louder.
  8. There’s one on the bay at present.
  9. After joining Basschat in general by threads/recommendations on here, however I happened on my love for Ashdown gear by accident. For a while a lot of the shared/provided gear was Ashdown and I really liked it, so decided that had to be the way to go. From there I’ve had a heavy ABM set up, but that got too much for me, luckily they brought out a NEO ABM range so went that way. All of the theory and specs in the world can’t make your ears decide which they prefer, on paper my rig prior to my Ashdown gear should have been much better (and maybe in technical terms it was), but my ears liked the Ashdown more.
  10. Def go wireless
  11. Agree, they seem to pair very nicely
  12. Well that was the reason I left, lol. Pretty much every weekend we were up & down motorways/staying over in hotels/getting on ferries or planes and it just got too much for me, I was constantly exhausted as was doing it with holding down a full time job. It just came that bit too late for me but I had 6 years of the best fun in music I’ve ever had.
  13. Well I was 54 when I left my last band Paul, we were (and they still are) an originals street punk/Oi band. We played all over the UK & Europe, there’s a great scene out there with plenty of bassists using similar tones to those you describe and plenty of people frequenting the gigs. Give it a try while you can, I had the best time of my musical journey in that band, we didn’t start it til I was 47.
  14. I dunno, in my last band my tone was the brightest/twangiest/most driven tone I’ve ever had, though my preferred tones are the traditional deep warm Precision/Ampeg. I just try to choose the right tone for the band, though do agree that I’ve probably got more “traditional” in my tone preference as I’ve got older.
  15. Well just played it for about an hour, and again am just blown away by this guitar. Did a bit of looking up and they come stock with Gibson Brite Wires, which have been my string of choice for electric guitars for years so s good there.
  16. I have had many different mix-ups if amps & cabs, even to the point of having cabs of different makes in the same stack. All sounded great, but my Ashdown ABM set up is the best for me (though my Marshall DBS7400 & VBC412 was mighty fine too).
  17. In beef dripping
  18. Sold Hipshot Drop D Extender in good condition, easy fit to 2008 onwards Fenders. It will fit 2012 onwards ones as well but it won’t match the ones already on the bass. Price includes delivery in the Uk.
  19. Sold pending the usual Deluxe Precision, Precision & Jazz pickups, active/passive selection - active has bass/mids/treble, passive the treble control becomes a tone control. Very versatile bass which is in very good condition, comes with Fender ABS hard case. Link showing full specs: https://www.gak.co.uk/en/fender-american-deluxe-precision-bass-new-2010-model-black-maple/31421 No trades or postage, am willing to meet up halfway (within reason).
  20. Yep, Ashdown ABM head & ABM cabs (plus an Ashdown RM500 as a backup).
  21. Def, and with a loom it’s so quick and easy to upgrade the pots/cap/jack whilst swapping out pickups and makes such a difference, gives a better control of the sound not to mention better reliability due to far better quality parts.
  22. I had two mics, a Shure SM58 and a Behringer XM8500. I sold the SM58 as the XM for about 20% of the price was about 90% as good. Imo def not cheap and nasty, to quote @David B they’re cheap and good.
  23. Def, I was amazed at how similar they are to the CS62s
  24. In my last band I needed that fresh new steel rounds twang, Warwick Red Labels lasted pretty well so that was every 2 months or so. Now I use Elixirs and can get between 8 months to a year before the clarity on the E goes.
