  1. The runaway winner at the South East Bass Bash Cab Shootout a few years back. Up against Barefaced, Markbass, Schroeder, Ampeg amongst many the Berg CN212 was the clear winner.
  2. Vince Neil of Motley Crue. On recordings he was fine but live he seemed to only manage one word of about every three or four of the lyrics.
  3. Mark of Booze & Glory’s Polish accent is quite strong on some of their songs.
  4. Think Harley Bentons advertising for their Tele could have been a little less like self-pleasure: Twang King Go on, say it aloud, you`ll get there.
  5. I used the DI on both of them for gigging, and on the ABM for recording, worked fine in all cases. The ABM has the option of pre or post EQ on the DI, the RM is post only.
  6. Same with ours, notice put up on website/Facebook etc. I also think that - given now it has to be booked/paid online - they’ve messaged everyone who had bookings to advise of the closure.
  7. Congrats, those Toneriders punch way above their weight, I found them to sound very similar to Fender Custom Shop 62s, but still a fraction of the cost.
  8. Funnily enough I’m playing my Jazz more and more lately, so not too fussed about it not matching a a Precision exactly. I’m also considering the 435 as not really sure I need actives, though the better quality of the 735 is what’s leading the way at present.

In my experience get on a very big stage where you’re a fair distance away from your amp/cab(s) that’s when you can tell the difference, there’s a solidity and weight to the sound of the ABM amps that comes through at that point, just carries/projects better. But on a stage area in a pub, well I didn’t notice much difference to be honest. I think the RM amps are exceptional, def the best Class D amps I’ve tried. For reference I had the ABM600 and RM500, and as I left my touring band last year I’ve sold the ABM. It was the best amp I’ve ever had but for the type of gigs I’m likely to play in future (once C19 gets sorted) the RM will be plenty enough for my needs. Doesn’t stop me missing that ABM though.
  10. The only amp on the list I’m familiar with is the Ampeg, and if you like Ampeg tone the BA amps won’t leave you disappointed.

  12. I loved that on the tills, if you ordered a pint of Fosters it came up on the readout as Kangaroo Pi55.
  13. I know where you’re coming from, I soooo want the RM800 but when I look at where I have the volume control on the RM500 (about 9 o’clock, 10 o’clock max) I hit the point of realisation, I have absolutely no need for a more powerful amp. Still want one tho!

  15. Look online for some chord charts for which you can send him the link. Then have a think about which chords are easiest for a beginner to master, then choose a song that used those chords. I used Songbird by Oasis as the first song I taught a friend years ago, followed by Bad Moon Rising by Credence.

  17. Good call re Barefaced, I had the Retro 410 & 210 for a while and for Deep Purple type material they would be great.
  18. I started using them as the band I was in did a lot of gigs with provided backlines, and the two I liked best were Ampeg & Ashdown, just that big beefy feel to the sound. Ashdown tipped it both on the weight of the gear, plus being UK based easy to sort any problems should they occur (they didn’t).
  19. Ashdown ABM600 at 13kg? The ABM600 has a preamp valve so not clean/clinical unless used without the valve drive. If wanting to stay with the same brand with cabs Ashdown have just brought out NEO versions of their ABM cabs, two 210s or a 210 & 115 and you’d have a pretty decent stack capable of handling all but the biggest stages - and at that point you’d have monitors anyway. The NEO cabs are about 17kgs I believe, so the whole rig would be 47kgs in three separate pieces.
  20. Not had the Orange, have had the Ashdown and paired with the RM500 it sounded very nice. Being an Ashdown fan as well I’d check the RM112 out first.
  21. Seeing as the one thing that would really bug me if I let it can’t be controlled, tuners at different angles to each other, everything else just slips by.

I find that if the bass line isn’t straight root notes and if I have the tab then rather than trying to learn the whole song at once isolating four bars and mastering those, then repeating til I’ve got the whole song works. But I do agree with the posts above, knowing the chords and knowing the song really helps.
