  1. 28lbs for a 212, can’t go wrong other than needing an SVT to stop it floating away 😀
  2. When I was gigging & touring I was with New Moon. I chose them through recommendations, plus I liked that you detail the gear you have rather than just tot up a value.
  3. Every bassist in the audience who’s over 50, which given the music will probably be a good percentage
  4. The ABM NEO cabs are quite small in comparison to the regular ABM cabs. The 210 is nice and portable in comparison, with the cones being diagonally situated it’s less wide, and the depth too is less than the regular ones. I’m 55 with a dodgy back and can manage both of my 210s at the same time from my flat to the car (minimum 30metres). Whereas I used to struggle with the regular ABM210.
  5. Well Cliff did use a few different basses, seen him with Stingrays and Precisions (always seem to be his favoured sunburst/maple tho).
  6. Or their ABM PRO-NEO range, both sound good and easily portable, plus cost effective.
  7. I think it was Fenders medieval bass, the Precision-Lute
  8. If it can’t be both (providing image essential as you say) then sound. If I’m going to see, let’s say an AC/DC tribute I don’t really care what they look like, I just want to hear those songs being played well. So what if the lead guitarist is in jeans instead of a schoolboy outfit, as long as he nails those solos all is well in the world.
  9. I think this just happens as we get older, listen to Axl Rose now, there’s none of the power and attack that he used to have though the tone is still there.
  10. Think you’re right, and he certainly plays some good stuff on it too, def not a case of bass there to make up the numbers on this show.
  11. Just watching it, am not a fan but he has a really strong voice, and a proper band playing, plus he genuinely looks like he’s having the time of his life up there. I think I approve.
  12. Yeah I’ll be sticking with my Ashdown gear but it’s great to see UK based companies now offering lightweight bass gear, Ashdown, Orange, Laney all getting in there with affordable gear that will hold pretty much any gig.
  13. Might not have been the best bass player but he did have one heck of an image. Which is of course why McLaren supported getting him in the band, whereas Rotten wanted to even things up in the mates dept.
  14. We just waited until we were all comfortable. The main driver was the drummer, as he has Crohn’s disease he’s on immuno-suppressants so has to be more careful, once he was ready to go so were we. With this rotten pandemic everyone has different situations, be they medical, family, work etc, and I think Jack’s reaction is the best, when all are ready resume, no putting conditions in.
  15. It looks kind of in the middle of the Ashdown RM and ABM ranges to me.
  16. Agree, that was a great album, just not a traditional Crue album, thought the guitar work on it was excellent

    NPD - Sansamp

That’s a good idea, I did similar with their Para Driver, no matter what rig I was using FOH got the sound that was needed. Also meant as I was DI’d from that I could adjust eq/volume on whatever amp I was using for on stage sound without it interfering with the mix out front.
  18. Release your inner Lemmy!
  19. It’s gotta be the guy on the Old Spice bottle

KiOgon loom will be a good improvement, much better quality parts. That’s one area where Squier keep costs down, whereas the new loom will most likely be same parts as what go in US Fenders.
  21. It does seem to restrict the amount of cabs that can be connected. Sure we can all use our ears to make sure that cabs aren’t struggling but I like to have my cabs at least equal to the power rating of the amp, just makes me feel that bit more comfortable.
  22. Both sound great, I have the RM500 and the OriginAL pedal. I’d say that you can do more with the RM due to the combination of drive/compression/pre-shape, these make it very versatile but for a solid good bass sound the OriginAL hits it. I use the pedal as my home-practice sound and it’s a really nice sound, tho the valve-drive set to anything other than fully off is far too much for me. And after saying all that I’d be looking at FinnDaves RM800, and then keeping my eyes open for a lightweight cab that can handle 400watts at 8Ohms.

The number of times I nearly bought that one myself, they’re cracking basses, and a real amazement to my why Squier stopped them. Sure Matt Freeman may not be known too well outside of punk but these are amazingly good basses. Congrats.
