I had similar with some Hipshot tuners I bought, the bushes were slightly too small so I emailed them and asked if they had something more suitable available for retail. They just said send us your address and we’ll post them out. It is amazing how some companies/retailers seem to overlook these kinds of gestures, whereas for others they build and retain large customer bases with them.

It was Gareth, I couldn’t believe the BIN price was so reasonable. Ok it’s not pristine condition but have seen similar ones fairly higher priced.

Ashdown After Eight isn’t too big and has a decent amount of low end, same for the Fender Rumble 15.

Firm my understanding it is Stew, tho requires a degree of practicality to do it. I’m sure Dave at Ashdown would offer best advice on this.

Well the Ashdown is louder, but as Chris says the SVT3 isn’t quiet, it just takes a while to get used to how to obtain the max performance from it.

I’ve had two SVT-3PROs, good amps but if expectations are of the traditional SVT sound it doesn’t quite meet it. Plus the size of it, and the fact it really needs to be in a rack case made it pretty cumbersome & awkward to cart about. Being a major Ashdown Fanboi I’d stick with the original thoughts of the ABM600, I found it to be more versatile than the Ampeg, lighter/easier to carry, and wayyyyy louder.

So after reading the thread about Cliff Williams of AC/DC getting a signature Stingray it reignited the want for one. I love Stingrays but have ever managed to “tame” the sound, but then I’ve only ever had the 3eq versions. I have however read that the 2eq is beefier sounding so thought, I’ll give one a try if a black/black/maple one comes along. And it did at the weekend on EBay. Sealed the deal, delivered today. Like an excited child I got home and to work on a clean/set-up and in honour of Cliff, a set of D’Addario Chromes. It’s a 1987 model with the truss rod adjuster in the headstock, and the silver battery cover. It has some nice authentic road wear on it, nothing hideous, just the signs of a 30+ year old gigged instrument. But all that doesn’t mean a thing if you don’t enjoy playing it. Well I settled down in front of YouTube to some of my fave covers and an hour and a half passed in an instant, yes, the ‘Ray passed the test, I love playing it, and yes, the 2eq is beefier sounding. Oh, the beauty in question, well it’s as below.

And received it today. And it’s true about the 2-eq having more grunt, much more to my taste, looks like I’ve a whole lotta (had to chuck that in) AC/DC songs to learn now.

And Ashdown currently have B-Stock ones for £450 (my old band just bought one from them for their new bassist to use, on my recommendation).

As above, pretty much exactly my thoughts, including the regret selling part. I’ve no need for an amp like that now but I do miss it.

In their guitar cabs HB use Celestions. Our guitarist has one of the 1x12s and it’s a Vintage 30 in there. Great sounding little cab and surprisingly pokey.

If anything he was asking me to be slightly ahead of it, which when it was mixed sounded dead on. I’ve never played like that before as I do tend to be slightly behind the beat, letting the drums lead on the rhythm. Strange really, as listening to the two previous albums we did with him I couldn’t tell the difference.

I’ve always followed the drums, though on our recordings the producer hit me to “push” the bars so I was more on the beat. Felt a bit weird but worked a treat.

They’re great pickups. When I got the TB I thought I’d have to replace them to get a sound similar to my US Fender with Custom Shop pickups but no, the Wilkinson’s were near enough for me not to bother, and I’m very OCD about stuff like that.

The Tony Butler has Wilkinson Pickups, Jon, so as long as you’re happy with them in that bass prob wise to put them in the build.

I get the feeling there’s an interesting story here.

On Mex Fenders I usually change the base plate of the bridge to Gotoh, as it has the grooves for the saddles to sit in. Just makes sense to me that given I’m applying downwards force into the strings that there is something on the bridge designed to hold them in place.
