  1. Same here. I might change bridges or parts of them for better quality/stability but never based on lack of sustain on the instrument.
  2. Well just to update re this, have managed to score a 1987 2eq in my favoured black/maple colour scheme on the ‘bay.
  3. The ideal punk bass, turn it vertical and give the crowd the v sign.
  4. I bought a bass online from them which when delivered I just couldn’t get on with. Contacted them by e-Mail, very swift response, return dealt with very well indeed.
  5. Yes, spot on. The younglings at work listen to a lot of earnest meaningful other young people and can’t quite understand the loud aggressive bands that I listen to.
  6. More by luck than anything, no, never been in a band with a guitarist that was better than me on bass. Sure most could play the instrument but what they all fell down on was both knowing what to play/what not to play (I’m the same in guitar I should add) and timing, very loose in all cases - take away a guitarists overdrive and it exposes timing issues.
  7. So he slapped two ponies in your pocket, well that’s inflation for you 😀
  8. It did take me a while. I tried it by keeping the amp set as flat as possible and using the eq on the pedal, no good. So I had a Tonehammer with eq set to taste and our producer added in the BDDI set flat but with a bit of drive. Was a revelation.
  9. I have a maple necked black Jazz with black pickguard that looks great, also think sunburst looks good with maple.
  10. We def wouldn’t have made any money that way!
  11. A band I learned about through my current band is Volbeat as we do one of their songs. I’d never heard of them but liked the song so checked them out on YouTube and bought some albums as I liked most of what I saw/heard. I’m glad I’m still open to newer bands or ages old material that I haven’t heard up until now, keeps music exciting.
  12. I can see a good few pubs that decide to put bands on do the “pass a glass” thing, where the punters put in a couple of quid as agree, pubs themselves aren’t gonna have the funds to pay anymore. It can work pretty well, we were amazed at how much we got via this method in Bremen when we played there.
  13. Yep, Fergie & Nicole Sherzinger did some great work with Slash which surprised a few.
  14. How about when they’re diagonally placed in cabs, Bill, there seems to be a fair few of these entering the market lately. Is it due to what you’ve described or space-saving/looks?
  15. I’m not that keen on Metallica but think her voice is great on that.
  16. It’s certainly ignited my Stingray lust again. Never had a 2eq Stingray, may well look into that as love the playability of the Stingray but the 3eq ones I’ve had I just couldn’t tame the Rayness, maybe easier on a 2.
  17. Def, the master at providing a solid foundation, and understanding the need to keep out of the way when you have a genius guitarist. Could probably say the same of Malcolm Young as well.
  18. I’m not in a gigging band, tho we do have one (and our only) gig booked, but I’m really enjoying rehearsing and learning new material at the moment. It’s more difficult material than I’m used to (I actually use all of the strings, and up to the 14th fret!) so I’m finding it very rewarding. I miss gigging but as I left my old band I don’t have the option of it anyway, probably makes it easier I suppose.
  19. That’s a great setup, and I’m sure it will sound awesome at volume.
  20. Mine too, they have two ABM600s, best amp I’ve ever had. Must try to be strong!!
  21. General Discussion. Being more than slightly OCD I start at the top of the list (with the sections I’m interested in) and work downwards.
  22. I’d like to see Tech21s Q-Strip pedal with gain/drive and a tuner on it. Or their Geddy Lee pedal with a DI and tuner on it.
