  1. On at the moment, am not a particularly big fan but I’m quite impressed with how tight & polished they are. Good bass presence in the mix too, Gibson Thunderbird & Ampeg SVT (tho who knows what is coming from FOH).
  2. The Ashdown RM500 is a great amp, it’s fuller sounding than the Markbass, has better eq points - imo of course - and with both drive and compression as well it is much more versatile. Having had both amps, you could get the Ashdown to do what the Markbass does, you couldn’t get the Markbass to do what the Ashdown does. Also, due to the pre-shape feature on the RM500 it can get into ABM territory. They're both good amps though, get a good deal turn up on either and I don’t think you’d be disappointed.
  3. I think we need some statistics on this....
  4. Phew, I was wondering how long I could hold out, have no need but that looks one great bass
  5. Must Resist
  6. My favourite Christmas song, and a very good version, like it a lot.
  7. Agree, Rich, having been in training the most important factor always is the delegates, and it’s the responsibility of the trainer to identify the best way to deliver based upon their learning style.
  8. ADHD is a genuine condition, and thankfully people are now aware of it, and as such can tailor education etc so that people with it can benefit as much as possible, However how many kids that misbehave will use it as an excuse, possibly with their parents backing, that’s what concerns me. I think back to my school days and no-one in Mr Sprays class misbehaved, whereas the behaviour in Miss Fields’ class was appalling. Looking at many of those kids they would have happily used ADHD as an excuse for messing about. And as a result behaviour such as this could make people take it less seriously.
  9. Great to see Cliff Williams in there, to me it shows there’s appreciation for knowing what to play as well as appreciation for great techniques.
  10. I had one of these and the sound/tone was much more aggressive sounding than other Precisions I’ve had, I reckon it could well be the extra neck width/girth/bulk, all that maple has to have some effect surely.
  11. Have to say I agree, flats do make a Jazz sound pretty good, I’d even say I prefer flats on a Jazz than on a Precision.
  12. Bargain of the year imo on Ebay at present, Ashdown ABM1000 and ABM410 for £500 (plus £25 postage).
  13. Agree, far better than others getting the money.
  14. Yes, sadly if you test positive for COVID then fall out of a tree and die 23 days later the death is added in to the stats.
  15. Nice to see a Surrey-based bassist enjoying his new instrument......
  16. What did it was the introduction of the new ABM PRO NEO cabs - once they came out I knew I could have an ABM set up that I was capable of carrying. From then on it was a matter of willpower on his long I could resist - I think I managed 4 months so quite pleased with myself for that 🤣 Glad you’re enjoying the 600, I agree, def best amp I’ve ever had.
  17. Best amp I’ve ever had, seriously those perusing, snap this up while you can.
  18. There’s an ex-display 735a at Bassdirect for £619, looks pretty decent.
  19. Awesome Col, I bet you’re chuffed silly with that.
  20. That’s beautiful Nick, I have an 87 black/maple and it’s a great bass.
  21. I’ve not played the Pro 2, but do have a couple of the first Pro series. The pickups are ok but as has been pointed out, due to the magnets they’re bassy on the E/A, and trebly on the D/G so it’s difficult to eq the bass in a band setting. As such I’m swapping over to the Custom Shop 60s pickups - if the 64s in the Original are anything like those I can see why you liked the Original so much.
  22. One of the few times I’ve heard a Stones cover where the instruments actually sound right, massive kudos!
  23. I use the Tech21 Para Driver for this - the bonus of the Para Driver is that it has sweepable mids so you can choose the frequency to boost to get that JJ growl. It can be set so that the drive is only there when you dig in, or back off on playing intensity and up the drive to be always on/present.
  24. It’s like the OK Diners that you see on main roads, we always drive past looking for the good ones!
  25. Thing is, we’re pretty spoiled with the FS section, for £700 a great giggable rig can be found. I’d either go for gear I’ve used and liked, or gear I’ve heard other bassists use live that I’ve liked.
