  1. First one for me, bass and guitar had better sounds
  2. When I saw it I really hoped it was short scale
  3. Motorheadache are playing The Craufurd Arms, Milton Keynes just after Xmas, fairly sure I’ll go to that.
  4. Good to hear your on your way Jack
  5. Regular long scale should be fine, that’s what I use in my string thru Fenders.
  6. Love the coil tap sound
  7. I think for growl the Dimarzio or Geezer. I love the CS62 (and the Tonerider is very similar to it) but they seem to be more low-mid and vintage focused, whereas from what I’ve read the Geezer has an upper mid growliness to it. Plus with your user name surely it has to be a Geezer!
  8. Def agree on this Chris, maybe a different bridge affects the action/string tension to where a player prefers, so it coaxes better tones that way. Who knows but as you say if something makes you play better, irrespective if someone else likes it, then that`s all good.
  9. I had a similar 70s Precision, think it was a 78, very light indeed - another in the list of those I shouldn`t have moved on.
  10. Pretty much the same for us, our next gig is 40 mins.
  11. It`s so sad, that was my local for years, and honestly it was a lovely pub, yeah a few bouts of aggro over the years and the landlord used to give me a pint or two if I`d thrown said bother-merchant out but in general it was an oasis of relative calm in comparison to the other pubs in Hemel.
  12. That’s a great version, prob best cover I’ve heard of this song
  13. At present I have The Pretenders - October 2024 The Darkness - March 2025 Iron Maiden - July 2025
  14. Only thing that looks doubtful to me is the treble frequency at 1kHz
  15. Makes sense, no one sane wants to take on a berserker
  16. Hmm, going from that description @Happy Jack, White Hart in Hemel Hempstead perchance?
  17. Most def Paul, in my last band we were up & down the motorways pretty much every weekend. Admittedly we got to the point where we were making pretty decent money, although we put it all back into the business as it enabled us to play all over - Greece, Netherlands to name a couple - and everything, flights, hotels, ferries, all paid for by the band. Looking at their gigs nowadays I’d say they’re now further up the ladder than when I left, which is great, it’s hard work but it can be done.
  18. I wish I’d realised that, still, better late than never
  19. I`ve recently gone short scale and it`s made a real difference, but am still thinking of going further and getting a Sandberg Superlight of some sort - short scale preferred. I figure it`s a worthy investment.
  20. Great looking bass set up there Tom, I bet your bassist had no probs hearing himself.
  21. I agree Dave, it might seem like the band being precious if they decide to not do it but there are too many things that can go wrong. And inevitably there`s the tugging at the heart strings for one bunch of people to work for nothing where everyone else is paid their going rate.
  22. This is a very good call. The last band I was in that did these types of gigs we had a line of monitors in front of the band, kept the irritants out of the way and we could hear things better, win win I`d say.
  23. Yep, most of the gigs I do I only need to bring my bass, if travelling heavy I also bring an amp head.
  24. Good point, maybe someone should hack his account and write “I like Winston Churchill”, he’ll soon be doing five.
  25. Yeah I saw that and thought it was weird that Gibson can’t make bolt on necks anymore.
