I’ve not used a Blackstar bass amp but have heard other bassists use them. They sponsored a gig and provided full backline for guitar & bass. Strangely given that they’re primarily a guitar amp company I wasn’t that impressed with the guitar sounds (from guys who usually use Marshall’s) but the bassists all sounded really good. The gear provided was a combo and extension speaker so think it was the Unity.

Malcolm Young & James Hetfield, along with Izzy Stradlin are exceptional guitarists and often overlooked as they don’t do the widdly stuff.

Sounds good, it’s a great song and given your singers vocals were into her phone I’m very impressed at how it’s come out.

Agree, over the last few weeks I’ve sold 3 basses and 2 guitars, only took a hit on the one that I bought new, the rest all went for approx what I paid for them.

Get a Squier Affinity bass that has been set up well and you’ll be pretty amazed. Similarly with Vintage, their instruments are very good quality and play/sound really good.

I gigged with Squiers and Mex Fenders in my last band and didn’t enjoy the gigs any less due to that. For my needs Mex Fenders are more than sufficient, but I prefer the US ones so they’re what I have. It’s like this hoo-doo over me that says I must have the US ones, I do prefer them, but I know that as a Fender nut the Mex ones are more than up to the job. I did try going back to the Mex ones a while back but a good deal on a US one came along so I was back on that route again. On the punk scene many of the bassists in well known bands use Mex Fenders, and quite a few guitarists use Epiphone guitars. I do however have no interest in going “higher”, Fender US are the pinnacle for me.

Having seen the photos I feel really sorry for that bass, it really doesn’t look like it’s been looked after or appreciated at all.

1985 was the year I discovered Hanoi Rocks, Motley Crue & WASP, up until then my musical choices had been strictly punk/new wave.

Just spotted the ad, uber-bargain, @daveybass these have to be a consideration

Eddie Van Halen?

Like Paul I use the WL20 and for ease of use and convenience coupled with performance I can’t fault it.

There’s no doubt that Prince was a great guitarist but my fave is Slash. His tone and style have great feeling, it’s pretty easy to identify it’s him that’s playing even if you don’t know the material, and some of his riffs are world famous.

Congrats, I have to admit I’ve looked at those online more than a few times

You would think there’d be a bit more effort in selling, especially in current times.

Agree, sounds better as well with more speakers imo, greater depth to the sound, plus as a bonus it looks better too.

They’re good pedals, really easy to get a good workable tone quickly, irrespective of what amp/cab you’re plugged into. I use their Para Driver which is similar, just has sweepable adjustable mids, and it’s that essential bit of kit for me. Tech21 gear I’d well made and sounds great, become pretty much an industry standard.

Got to be this hasn’t it?

Doubling up on the same cab always sounds more full/more presence and with more bottom end. It’s positively grin inducing. Agree re the GK, you’ll get crisper presence & hi-fi sounds with that than the Markbass.

Given the circumstances I’d be after as light as possible, so from the ones I’m aware of it would have to be Barefaced. My actual faves are the Ashdown NEOs but they are a few KGs heavier. But of both of these two you get a UK based company with good customer service. Always worth having.

I can't work out if this is for real or a send-up?

I had a duo gigbag but moved it on as although it made sense to me, in practical terms I found it too big heavy & cumbersome.
-
The later 90s Fenders were pretty decent as from recall they’d just had another change of ownership so upped their game a bit. I had a 97 Precision and it was an excellent instrument.

For playing metal with guitar & drummer you’ll struggle with 100 watts. It might make rehearsals but in a gig situation very unlikely.
